  1. I think these are pretty impressive customs. All of the are instantly recognisable, and there's some lovely patterned printing on display. I agree they have a slightly different facial look to most lego figs - closest I can think of is Indy. I suppose $20 or so per figure doesn't seem so very unreasonable - I bet the Tyrion and White Walker-like figures would fly off the brickshelf if they were sold individually for that price - but $220 for the lot, that's kind of daunting, even for keen fans of Dragon Sword Fighter Force like me.
  2. Wow, this is absolutely fantastic, and very inspiring. It really shows how the classic range can be updated. Your clever build manages to capture the spirit of that early range as well. Really, really impressive. My kids are in the middle of a Castle phase, using my old figures from this golden era and some from Kingdoms. We've updated the heads on my old figures, and that had made me think of trying to give the oldies an updated castle. Your brilliant work has just shown what can be achieved.
  3. Great work, Ed. And thanks for the instructions - very good of you.
  4. Great build. Everyone should love flying castles on giant floating rocks, and the ship-shaped airship is a lovely design and a super concept. Well done
  5. Basically, ditto this. I try and avoid buying when they hit the shelves in order to pick up some price reductions later on. I've always loved Tatooine stuff, so will definitely be getting the new Cantina. I have the original Sand Crawler, and would have gone for the new one if it wasn't so expensive. And my other SW love is the Empire, even if it's only as lightsabre/blaster fodder for the Rebels (usually played by my kids). I've held off getting an ISD, but maybe this time I'll take the plunge and get one, or use some Jedi mindgames and talk my youngest into asking grandparents for it for her birthday, by which time the price should have dropped a bit.
  6. This is such a great MOC. I love how you can turn your creative skills to light-hearted visions just as well as you can some of the darker parts of the Bat-mythos. Very impressive!
  7. Thank you, White Fang, for a really excellent review. My favourite part of the range? Grandpa's newspaper headline. Can't see that I'll be getting any of them myself, but I'm sure they'll be a huge hit.
  8. That's a wonderful castle. It really does look like something the Teutonic Knights might have built. The detail is superb. I'm always a fan of any Black Falcon update, and your versions are fantastic.
  9. Lovely! I'm in the middle of mocing classic Castle too - kind of forced moc'ing because I can't find all the pieces for my old sets and my kids want to play with them. I used the robber face for a Wolfpack guy too. It's perfect for a slight reboot of them, as are some of the new crook faces that come in the City and Forest Police sets. I hope we'll see more of your work soon!
  10. Edoras. Such an iconic location in the books and films; so many great MOCs; an official set would be fantastic.
  11. A fantastic build. It manages to be very orky, great to look at, have some neat building tricks, and to be something that could actually be played with. Well done.
  12. And every time I see the list, I still can't stop thinking how great those sets would be. But we've been round this block plenty of times already.
  13. Moomins. Now that's a great idea. Scandinavian too. That would be a lovely range. Can't see it happening, sadly. Neither can I see a Game of Thrones range, but that doesn't make either of them any less great. And they are both far better themes than Speed Racer!
  14. Wonderful. Really wonderful. Well done!
  15. Wow. What an amazing set. But it's waaay too much at UK prices. £199.99 maybe, just, but not £249.99. Even I can't justify that, and it is one of favourite things in the whole of SW (don't know why, it just has been ever since I saw it in the film when I was tiny). I wonder how well this will sell in the UK.
  16. I completely agree with the comments about the SC price. Surely it can't be $300. I wouldn't buy a real one for 300, let alone a lego one. But THAT one for 300? It must be cheaper than that if they want to sell any, mustn't it? Even if you add in a homestead and as many figures as you can imagine (and I can imagine quite a lot) it can't be 300, can it? Can it?!? I assumed the rumours about the price were wrong once I saw it wasn't really a UCS version.
  17. I'm an owner of the original Sandcrawler. It's got a lot of play from my kids since we (that's to say I) bought it. Because it's so big, the brick construction worked well for me. It has stayed pretty much intact in every game and is strong enough to be played with. The only usual casualty has been the tracks, which are easy to clip back into place. I really like the look of this new version though, and will be sorely tempted to get it, especially now my kids are older and less likely to have difficulty with the plate construction which will presumably be weaker than the brick- built version. I do think it looks better on the outside than the original: the key issues for me will be what else comes with it, the interior, and the price once those are factored in. It's been a while since we got any SW sets, and eyes are already on Mos Eisley and the ISD, so the Sandcrawler needs to get its price right.
  18. Glad to see this is a common experience.
  19. It's a great image. Thanks for posting it.
  20. Bag End - great set, fun build, and perhaps the most iconic location in Middle-Earth.
  21. That hasn't exactly been a barrier to the inclusion of figures in sets so far - Beorn in DGA being a notable recent example, Yazneg another. And it would be a great set. The Easterlings were also sadly under-played in the films. They're one of the main parts of Sauron's army in the books, and why they didn't get to feature in the film's version of the battle of the Pelennor Fields was always beyond me. All they do in the film is march to the Black Gate and, er, that's it. For me, Darth Cadeus's analysis nails it on every point. I would only add that my kids enjoyed Gandalf's Cart and Riddles for the Ring. But DC's alternate sets would have been waaaayyyy better.
  22. It's a great little set. Inevitably it means you add another Emmet to your collection, but Wyldstyle in her hood is a neat figure, and you can use the set in Superheroes or Agents if you need a melty/cutty laser scene for someone to escape from. Or not, if you prefer.
