Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Zepher replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
I also generally advocate for fewer classes, but that one makes sense to me. Maybe not perfect as is, but certainly unique and pretty close to well-ironed! -
Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone
Zepher replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in The Heroica Archive
Bobby nods. "Shiz gets cray in the alleys sometimes, and you gotta bounce then. But they're aight over all. Yo, I'm gonna grab some shut eye, wheres the best place to do that, Polly?" -
Boomingham wipes his brow and sits down panting next to the woman with black hair under the pink and yellow umbrella. "Just taking a break for a second," he calls to his acquaintance. He turns to the woman, still glistening with sweat and huffing and puffing. "How are you enjoying the resort? Seems I'd enjoy it better sunbathing as opposed to digging all day."

Ripples under the ship and that front of the ship are spot on! Very cool build!

The space station is absurdly cool, but I may like that brick built background even more! Superb!

Hey thanks all! I was pretty happy with the giant mushrooms, and yes, it was meant to be magic hour… but perhaps I waited a little too close to the setting sun so that it was impossible to make out some of the landscaping.

The blue is awesome, and I love the critter! The biome is nice too - some of the rocks seem to weirdly end with giant gaps in the rock… not sure if it's an effect or not.

[Challenge 1] Slithering Around on Wastyria [O - H09]
Zepher replied to Kai NRG's topic in AG1 Archive
That snake looks thin and fast, and I love that tongue! I am also a huge fan of the rock work, looks craggy. -
Weird trees! I've never seen them built like that, I really dig it.

Absolutely superb! Love the wings, love the sense of motion. Feels like a birth.

We finally know why Graham keeps getting his boring missions. Gnarls has been messing with him. (Hope that's okay, Graham. ).

Sorry to see that some of the petty politics are getting to the CEOs. Glad you'll still be around in some capacity though, shmails! (And yes, I've infiltrated another HQ).

[Long Entry IV - Guinevere] After a brief stay on Lesser Direstan Commander Commander once more sends me orders. I am to depart for Guinevere. Apparently Kawashita is launching a full expedition. "All hands on deck," he tells me. I arrive to a disaster. Our early probes were apparently turned to dust by M.A.N.T.I.S. forces. We have suffered heavy casualties across the board. Half of Kawashita is still arriving fresh off the boat, and those who have been planet side are already packing their bags. The plan is unclear. I have grown to expect this of Kawashita. It becomes more impeccably clear by the day that strong leadership is both needed, and lacking. My paycheck, for example, has gone missing, a great grievance - all to some man named Koro! "Grumps" tells me not to rock the boat, and I feel I must heed the advice of this veteran - this elder - though I am uncertain of his own life style. He drinks eight cups of coffee within an hour of arriving! I stick to my tea. We are paired with a man named Gnarls. He is in charge of a small military expedition which I am to accompany. No Kawashita employee is allowed into the wilderness without armed guards. I am told to investigate if we can turn the lava into gold. I feel it would be pertinent to point out that this is considered the art of an alchemist, or, rather: "magic". But I do not. "Grumps" wisely advises me to not "look the gift horse in the mouth". He accompanies us so as to avoid his other duties. There is little honor in that, I find, but he defends himself. "Pragmatism," he says gruffly. The craters of lava are impossibly hot. "Grumps" warms his coffee over them, I warm my tea. Two Kawashita builder drones build a small transmission post to monitor M.A.N.T.I.S. operations. Gnarls complains about the heat. I tell him I'm just happy no longer searching for water, as I was on Lesser Direstan. "I recommended one of my old pals for that there!" he exclaims with a sinister laugh. "I think its really getting to him. I keep recommending him for the most boring missions we receive. Just to f*ck with him." This is all too common to me. At University I often found that peers would attempt to rile up those they held closest, as they also often viewed them as rivals. I never partook in such activities. "Time to head out!" calls Gnarls. "Grumps" places his coffee mug on a stone, and I do the same. We follow Gnarls' colleague, Benny Burns, out of the craters. Thank the heavens. Fear no more the heat o’ the sun, fear the craters of lava. "Pointless mission," growls Gnarls. "Those M.A.N.T.I.S. bastards will find it in minutes." He pronounces it M- A- N- T- I- S- instead of Mantis. A strange man. I am happy to have seen the heat, happy to have enjoyed my tea, and happy to leave once more. [End Log Entry] 15 minutes later... "Found another Kawashita thing-ma-gig. Want me to take care of it?" "Clear the area," says the voice on the other end of the line... "I'll take care of it same way I took care of their drones." The Build: OoC: I'll edit in lighter photos eventually, hopefully! The week sort of got away from me - was hoping to use this as a "first draft" of this build, because I wasn't totally happy with it, but I never got a chance to really improve on it. Next time around!

Great build! Ton of fun details - love the water tower, and I'm a huge fan of cracked desert floor ALONG with the lava flows - great appropriation of other's imagination, and a great job implementing them. The mine itself is awesome as well, ramshackle and sci-fi at the same time! Kawashita never runs from battle, so I echo they must not have been attacking.

Nice build! I think it would have perhaps benefited a little from more varied elevation, and fewer tiles - hard to tell what the terrain really feels like that way - more variation would have given a more flowing vibe.

Awesome! Love the shaping of the fighter (reminds me of a micro-scale Octan build from last week, really cool continuity regardless of it was on purpose, subconscious, or totally by accident!). Your crafts always have a great unique feel to them, never what I expect but never looking like they wouldn't work. The cockpit (the way that gray part is raised) is awesome, and I love the "power" section behind the guns. The hanger is also fantastic - I love grebbles that look like they have functions, sometimes I feel like people just pack them on without thought but I think your builds are always elevated by attention to detail, and being able to create with LEGO representations of things that mighty actually function.

[Challenge 1] The Dust Flea of Barker's Folly [M-D02]
Zepher replied to SpacerSteve's topic in AG1 Archive
Awesome flea! Love the head - those red eyes are devious and those feelers are creepy crawly! I specifically love the wings - purple was a great choice, and the whole bulbous feel of the back is awesome. Some weird gaps and flat study areas on the side, but other than that, nice build. -
[Challenge - 1][M - A06] The Dire Deserts of Death.
Zepher replied to Mark of Falworth's topic in AG1 Archive
No hard feelings?? How could there be!! Absolutely awesome build - both of them! I actually like the "second" butte (the challenge butte) better, but the first one certainly fits in better with the landscape. I wish the other rock formations were a little higher to match it - not quite as tall, but they just don't tower QUITE enough for my taste. But the stratification of those rocks and the downward facing slope pieces... blows my mind. Absolutely gorgeous, hilarious story (I want to start killing mini-figs, but I have to introduce some first!) and those edited pictures are awesome too. Even the fight feels dynamic and fast paced, which is hard to do with LEGO, so kudos for that. We'll get you back!- 27 replies

Catching up after a few days of being very busy - love all the interaction between M.A.N.T.I.S. and Kawashita on A06! Great fun telling those stories.

Cute critter, and VERY alien while still feeling like it could have evolved (in some strange universe). Sometimes alien means that the creator doesn't feel organic or logical, but this one has a logic to it while still looking bizarre! Love that! The yellow rocks are something I've never seen before and that make the build SUPER weird, BUT I had to look second time to notice that's what's making it so weird, and I love that. A sort of tropical feel to the whole thing. One of my favorite builds of the week, to be honest.

Feels monolithic. Great work!

Cute and weird looking duck. The whole scene is cute, actually - those little bits of grass are nice, and I love the green water.

Wasn't expecting those colors from the black and white! Awesome. The cliffs are nice too, love how packed they are with vegetation, looks like life is abundant there! I feel like the wings for the bird get sort of "thin and flat" at some points, which doesn't feel particularly organic to me! Just something to think about for the future!
-
Yeah, nice and peaceful scene. Contrasting colors are simple, but always effective, and the lighter blue gives the whole build a calmer feel than it might have otherwise. I like the way you made the rippling water too!

Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone
Zepher replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Sure did! You know how it is - before that wall went up everyone's turf was all mixed and matched, yo! I did my fair share of chilly at the pile, dope enough place, and all those alleys are tight for adventuring. Funniest shiz, sometimes me and my dudes would catch rats and race 'em. Would always let them go afterwards, though, ain't no use harming them for no reason know what I'm saying - 'sides they'd win me some bling sometimes!"
