I'm going to be heart broken when it turns out Eshy is working for Mantis. Fun build, love the crystals of Awesomium!I really dig the icicles, wish we got more of them. As others have said, the footsteps are lovely. The alien is appropriately cartoony too.

Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone
Zepher replied to Purpearljellyblob's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Yo man, I ain't from the Hovels, though I ain't far from them either. I am a hero though, and don't you doubt it, yo! I'm the dopest of the dope - just ask Miderun. We're tight." He walks over to the guys cutting wood and taps Rocky on the shoulder. "My dude! This looks like tough shiz, and if you're sick and all you should let me get down on it, you know? No good killing yourself over some wood, my dude." -
OoC: That's not allowed. Khrone, what do you want to do? Try to beat the beasty, but always with the conditional that I go down you flee? You can't be hurt by it's special, but if you get petrified... Boomingham wobbles back to his feet. "Damn, just finished patching myself up…" he looks at Eric. "We killed a siren queen without them… but this is a mighty nasty snake. Might be best to send you ahead to get some help while I distract him."

The landscaping here was the inspiration for all of Lesser Direstan, with good results across the board if you ask me! The ship is nice too - I like the back of it in particular. The front of it seems a little busy to me, somehow - especially those dark red plates- the angle is cool, but they somehow feel too thin, like they should be removed or bulked up. But over-all great build!

Much agreed! The white against the dark gray and sand brown… coupled with those dry arid looking plants v. the lush green ones inside… a superb build! I love the fact that you sloped the front too - makes it fit into the mountain, and makes sense for a green-house. Absolutely lovely - I've been leaning a lot on the "exploration" of the new planets, but builds like this and this make me want to start to show what a more colonized alien planet might look like! I wish I could think of a note to improve the build, but nothing jumps out at me. Great work!

Heroica RPG - Quest #136: The Sorcerer's Stone

OoC: Stats look good though I returned the Twin Sai to Vind - that's on me, thank you for copying the appropriate stats besides that even though apparently I need to update them in the topic. Bobby walks up, a steaming mug of coffee in his hand. "Yo, good looking afternoon, am I right? How's it hanging, my dudes. I'm Bobby "Young" Bucks Jr. nice to meet you pleasure is mine I am sure." -
[Log Entry III - Lesser Direstan] I wonder what a planet must do to be bequeathed the name "Lesser Direstan". We raced by Greater Direstan so quickly I never got a chance to see what made it so great. After two and half hard weeks on Lorstan II I was awoken abruptly by the sound of a Seraphim overhead - not an strange sight, though this one was flying particularly close. Expecting my bi-daily supply drop I prepared to go retrieve the material in my trusty vehicle, but much to my surprise instead of supplies two men dropped from the sky. One introduced himself as Commander Commander (when I inquired further into his name he told me the Kawashita was the way of discipline). When I explained that without the great human virtue of curiosity - ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven - it is likely that we would still not know of the Gates, he said "Curiosity killed the cat". Receiving orders from his radio he explained the Corporate's First Branch (which I am informed only then that I am a part of - an error I allow to slide but am sure to remember - such is the way of bureaucracy I fear and lo' now I too am a part of it!) is making a move to Lesser Direstan. I ask if we have made Lorstan livable yet, if the brave colonists to follow will have the appropriate drinking water. My pleas for answers go unmet. I am shipped away with the driver ("Grumps") and put aboard a ship and before I know it I'm on Lesser Direstan. A brief comes in paper form, and I am given a new ship, which "Grumps" calls a "Cavefish". I doubt this is the true name of my machine, but I admire his jargon. He pushes me out on my own with a "good luck". My mission is... similar to my previous one. I fly along the coast, alone. My "Cavefish" searches the ocean below me - along the coast are a number of caves right below the ocean floor, filled with fresh water which we may mine for our sustenance. I have never heard of such a thing before - fresh water caves below the ocean! What a wonderful place this universe of our's is! The "Cavefish" has a red light when there is a cave below. I think this is rather silly since this is the color for "stop" back at University, but the big wigs over rule me. The land is beautiful, home to many strange red and white mushrooms and trees. I sail alongside cliff sides over wine-colored water, and am reminded once more of the nursery rhymes my mother once read me. Red fish, blue fish, One fish, two fish. Bobby walks back into the Hall and signs up for Quests #136 and #137. He saunters over to Annie and Mhinak. "Hey, how's it hanging my main chica?" he asks as he snaps and points to Annie. "Making new pals, always, tight, tight. What's up, little dude, my name is Bobby but my friends call me Young Bucks."
-
Well, your answers cleared up everything I was looking for. Thanks - I KNEW I was being thick, just couldn't find it for some reason. Even checked the corporation threads because that's where I thought it was, but you know how eyes sometimes play tricks on you.
-
I agree- would love to see the whole build, but the piece has a nice sense of action and movement! The grate at the end is a nice choice, and the use of chains is good too.
-
I'd say that's up for different NPCs and QMs to decide. Didn't someone once pose as Bonapartes? I think I got a kick out of that too. I don't think elves would be tricked, but it'd be hilarious if a kid was pulled into the ruse, or if someone played along and screwed him over later on, or anything. Why not! We've got lots of characters with weird traits that everyone responds to differently.
-
I personally think it's a hilarious character choice.
-
Nope, its permanent.
-
It works the same way your Everlasting Venom works, only with bleeding.

Hey, this may be an extremely stupid question, but... How do we tell how many resources each corporation has? Is it just the planets they control? Do we get awarded resources each week from the planets we control, or is like we add up all the planets we control and then that's the resources we have? What happens when we spend them, then? Is the planet just totally exhausted? What's the point of taking control of planets from other corporations if they've already spent the resources on the planet? Isn't it just non-consequential then? What's the point of defending a planet you own against hostile take over?
-
Looks like he inherited Jiri's job. Nice build! The rocks have got great colors, and the trees is lovely! Wish the water collector had some Kawashita colors, or any highlight colors for that matter but it looks nice as a design.

The blue soil is superb, and as others have said the little soil change right near the growth is perfect. The plants are extremely nice - a good example of how green plants can still look alien depending on the context, and here the blue soil and the light green plants make the regular ol' fashion green plants look weird as well. And the monster, of course, is both dangerous and hilarious looking. The torso/neck part looks a little weird to me, especially how it connects to the tentacles, but that's my only note. Fantastic and fun scene.

Heroica RPG - Quest #127: A Light in the Darkness
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: Grimwald never gave Macellus a mead, so your conscience isn't clean on that front, Nerwen. Also, just pointing it out since I noticed, didn't Nerwen also loan Grimwald a staff at the opening of the quest? "If there's hard feelings, you'll know," says Deborah with a matter-a-fact manner. She claps Nerwen on the shoulder and with a salute to the rest of the party she walks off into the forest. Morta giggles and waves farewell as she and Marcellus set off in another direction. The ride back to Eubric is a fair one. Samuel and Yu Shu spend most of the time below the deck, Yu Shu still incredibly sick and her protege refuses to leave her side. The rest of the heroes don't have much to do, exhausted as they are. Avery spends a lot of the time lounging around and getting slightly burned in the sun. She sneers at this. What does it matter to an undead? At Eubric Avery disappears without a sound, a ghost, as if she had never been there at all. It is impossible to tell what will she bore towards the party at the end, or in what capacity they would next meet. Ser Abel shakes Pretzel's hand, then the hands of the rest of the party. He gives Samuel a brotherly hug, and then he too is gone into the crowd. Yu Shu stares after him with red-rimmed eyes, but she lets him go. The party accompanies Yu Shu and Samuel to the Temple of Ennoc. At the door to the room they originally met her in, Yu Shu stops and faces the party. "I'm sure I should give some triumphant speech, but I'm tired as Hel and need to see the priests and priestesses of our Order to see if they can make me not feel this way." She grunts. "So thank you, heroes. I was never worried you would fail me, and you never did. I don't know if the world is a better place today than the day we set out, but i hope it is, and I feel that it is, and sometimes that's all we've got to go on." She digs around in a pouch and gives each of the heroes a diamond. "Thats my thanks." She steps inside, leaving the heroes with Samuel and a successful quest! Phew. A bit longer than I intended. Thanks for sticking with me! I have a lot of thoughts, but that'll come when it comes. For now you're free to talk to Samuel or head back to the Hall to catch the next batch of quests!- 607 replies

OoC: Well, my bad too, I thought I'd end up doing actual damage but fire is effective against beasts, not vermin. Still, shouldn't I have done some damage, since the weather doubles both my elements? Or is it different with weather as opposed to enemy type. I guess it would be, since I'm not able to damage it in the first place. Did you roll for the 4 1/2 chance effects too Boomingham drops Scupperer in disappointment and draws his Frozen Saber, attacking from the back row. He grumbles under his breath as Heckz joins the battle, but grins at Eric. "Good to see you, chap! This little snake decided it had to come out and play with us, but I think it might be getting more than it bargained for."

Heroica RPG - Quest #127: A Light in the Darkness

"I did not know that there would be a debate over my ancestral armor." She grunts as she falls into the stretcher. "It will go to me." She growls softly. "You all speak the truth about Abel, and I'm powerless to stop you as it is. He will not be in my Order, but you're right. Let the High Priestess judge him. But he will not carry weapons or armor onto the boat. Marcellus, will you be traveling with us?" "No." "If you're looking to track down Gocklo, you'll do yourself no favors following me. He'll be taking Deci to someone else." "I'll find him." "Best of luck." Deborah turns to the heroes. "I'll see you again, if I had to guess." The heroes can say their final good byes to their three companions (and finish loot division).- 607 replies
