The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build, Dzoni, excellent work with that furniture! Welcome to BoBS! -
Nice build, the stone ruins are excellent, and the palisade and landscaping are great as well! Cool technique to make those muskets firing, and although I'd usually object to the sharp shadows, but they do look pretty appropriate for this scene! An overview picture without any cut edges would help a lot though! And of course that all is awfully violent over just a hat!

Excellent gate, Dwalin, love the subtle changes in the rock wall, and the golden accents forming the helmet are very well done too! My only nitpick would be the ground - a bit smoother mixing of the colors, and possibly a few less, would improve the landscaping Awesome introductory build overall though, glad to have you in Mitgardia!

Interesting twist on the pirate era, but this certainly is an excellent build to go with it! That entry room in particular is really beautiful, the water, flowers, and stands all look just about perfect! The garden roof section looks a bit odd, but overall it is a very nice build! I'm wondering how this kind of building would look next to a more typical pirate age one - I might have to try that out sometime! Approved from leadership

[OL - FB2] The 'Commerce de Breshaun'
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another excellent ship, KB! Great job overall, but especially with the sails and hull, and awesome use of Gideon's technique there on the stern! -
Beautiful photography, and two very nice little scenes, Ayrlego, the hustle and bustle of the second is particularly well done and eye catching! My only piece of advice one the builds, is that the rowboats in the first one tend to look a bit plain as they are - tiling them off can improve them tremendously. Here is an example of one I tiled off, though I'm (tolerably) sure that there are other ways to do it as well! Excellent story as usual too, and moving your story on with small builds is always more than welcome in BoBS!

[OL - FB1] Prospecting on ÃŽle de Zeus
Garmadon replied to Gideon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great little build, Gideon, the landscaping is excellent - especially considering how small the build is! - and the hole is very convincing as well! The prospector is awesome too, is that Blackbeard's hat from PoTC? Great parts usage if so! -
[DK Nocturnus Crusade] Changing Allegiance Again
Garmadon replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
The Arkbri Falcons, is it? No surprise they'd betray us! Oh, wait, who is it the're changing sides from this time? Great build as usual, Gideon, those cacti are always awesome, and the falcons are great as well! That's a lot of camels too!- 26 replies

Very nice and very large ship Maxim, the colors are excellent, and those guns will surely pack quite a punch! The detailing on the stern is probably my favorite part, but the section under the bowsprit is superb as well! A few pieces of advice would be to make the ship either a bit wider or lower in the water - I can't say that she would actually have any problems in a high sea as my knowledge on the subject is too limited for that, but I do think it would look better like that Do learn from my mistakes and don't make it over 18 studs wide though! The second row of gunports would also look better (IMHO ) if it was a bit longer than the first, instead of being so nearly exactly the same! And are you ever going to unfurl those sails? I would love to see it with them all out if you could! Excellent job here anyhow, though, and congrats on beating me to posting the first ship over class 5!

Very nice build Sorrelon, the water is excellent, and the bridge and tree are quite good as well! The tower could use some finishing off, but the story does a good job explaining that! A few more leaves and a taller trunk would help the tree, but what you have already is great, and the photography is splendid Looking forward to more from you!

[OL - FB1] The 'Royal Shipyards' in Breshaun
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful build KB, that arch and emblem are superb, and the house - especially that interior! - is excellent too! Great job depicting the activity of the shipyard, and the crane and ship skeleton look good to me!- 24 replies

Excellent job with that ship Faladrin, even if it does belong to those rascally bluecoats! The jibsail and curvature at the front of the ship are superb, and great job posing the Tenotclaxcans' war canoes around it!

[Esl - Ch II A] : Fort Severus
Garmadon replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice fort Faladrin! The rock-work and wooden fortifications are great, and I particularly like the use of those clip pieces around the opening for the cannon! The minifig action is excellent as well, as are the greenery and river Tiling the border if you could would improve the overall presentation, but that is a minor nitpick in a very nice MOC!- 14 replies

[Esl - FB 2] : Visiting a friend
Garmadon replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat build and story, Faladrin, I'm kind of wondering what ever he will do with it if he ever does find that apple! Eat it? The wharf and palm tree here are particularly excellent, and of course that boat is nice as well! -
[ESL-FB1] Cotton for Salida Este
Garmadon replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
He should be indeed! Neat plantation Umbra, the olive (correct?) green looks good for the stalks, and that technique for cotton is great as well! My only piece of advice would be to include a little variation in the form of studs or tiles to the straight rows between the cotton plants- 11 replies

Brickseas.com - a structured index for BoBS
Garmadon replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Sounds great, I'll try to keep an eye out and add at least my own builds there! -
Excellent story and wonderful vegetation, Ayrlego, and great job portraying the action as well! The photography is superb as well, and the water and bank are well done too My one piece of advice is that, if you have the room on your backdrop for the pictures, taking them from a bit of an angle would help the presentation even more. Great job all around!

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm not sure about number one, but for the others: The world is known as "Historica," and yes, there is a vast unexplored section above Mitgardia (perhaps it could be argued that it is in Mitgardia...) which is known as the Frozen Beyond. There are also Varlyrio and Ulandus (the large-ish island below Kaliphlin), but other than that there are no "other lands" which are in Historica. However, for introductory backstories several people have there characters coming from "some island/continent far away," and there is nothing wrong with this, but they are not in the official story and are not available to be built in Hope that answers the question -
Beautiful builds Koen, I believe your first would still be my favorite, but the other two are superb as well! Great idea of having the third one open differently too!

Variations of Fortifications around BoBS
Garmadon replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good idea to try out the various factions' soldiers here Capt. B, but I think I agree with Kai that Eslandola's are the coolest! The blues especially afford some nice contrast though, and those Sea Rats were hilarious and unexpected! -
Very nice build Puvel, the wall and outpost are clean and sturdy, and great job on the terrain as usual - especially with that little pond! Excellent photography too!
