Ship Build Off #1; Captain Green Hair needs YOU!
Garmadon replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Excellent bunch of ships! Of the first four the HMS Tribute would have to be my favorite, although the Tuna King is definitely a close contender - and the decks are tiled And there's an interior. And... I'd better just get around to voting before I change my mind! Neat to see that you folks were able to see a RL ship as well, and I hope they'll get the funding to complete De Ruyter's flagship! Great job on the Tit too - it looks very polished, and those stern windows are superb! Will we be seeing some of these in BoBS, by any chance? Oh, and the HMS Whatever is really awesome as well! -

A very nice vessel! As you've already proved before, those technic sails can look really good (especially in black ), and the black/white colorscheme works perfectly for a Sea Rat's ship as well! Excellent job on the overall shaping too, I think I may be taking notes from that stern for a future vessel. Splendid work! I hope we'll soon be seeing her terrorizing the Brick Seas (especially Mardier )?- 8 replies

[SR - FB1] The Dusk (Gargoyle sistershiped)
Garmadon replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As I said elsewhere, very neat little ship here! The curves on the front are very well done, and the hatches, guns, and lanterns are great touches as well! Looking forward to seeing her in the brick! -
Really neat little build, the hole is excellent, as is the little awning and the fellow supervising up there! Looking forward to seeing more of Khadira!

Done! -
Very nice classic-style blacksmith's shop, LJ, the workspace, with the overhanging roof, fireplace, adn tools is my favorite section, and the whole looks very fitting for Avalonia! Glad to see an interior as well!

Thank you! The piano is definitely one of my favorite details of this build as well, and I'm glad you liked the story! More of that to come soon, hopefully! Thanks Kai! I'm really not entirely sure whether the swinging side was more helpful in this case or more of a pain, though! There are advantages to being Eslandolan, you see! Plus, gold is really just a very cool color! Thanks, mate! Actually, I kept the top of the fountain off (or held in place with another piece) most of the time while building, and it didn't prove much of a trouble at all when photographing - provided you don't mean to shake things up too much, it sits on there pretty nicely! Thanks Captain B! This was my first opening fireplace (that I recollect, anyhow), and although it was somewhat annoying to always have to remember not to put any pieces attaching the two sides, I liked how it turned out too! Thanks a lot, Elos! The house certainly stands out for me too (and took the most time ), and covering it with windows was definitely something I wanted to try out (both because many large houses back then were replete with them, and because my dark green collection unfortunately is not unlimited )! I was quite pleasantly surprised at how well the simple framed trans-clear looked as well! Oh, and the monkeys were obviously needed when doing a collab with Captain B! Thanks Faladrin! The credit for the door goes to Gideon though, as I just copied his design!

[ESL] Hojaroja Episode 1: A discrete arrival
Garmadon replied to Phadeout's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent build, Phadeout, and great to see Hojaroja beginning to expand! Very nice terrain and posing, and for some reason I really like the benches in that rowboat as well! Keep it up! -

...And, the ETWC has now also licenced a large plantation just outside of Pontelli: Part I (by Captain Braunsfeld) Part II (by Garmadon) -
Excellent build, Captain B, your colors really pop here, and you've done a great job making this side of the oat plantation alive! The bridge, stream, and banks are very nice, and I really like Captain Cookie's appearance and the "strange transporting activities" too! Plus, that clever sign and your ETWC troops are just awesome! Captain Cookie's got to like the shade of that tree which spontaneously popped up while he was fishing! Thanks a lot for doing this collaboration, mate!

Settlement: Pontelli, Nellisa, Eslandola
Garmadon replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
My section of the collab with Captain Braunsfeld for the ETWC's new large oat plantation, just outside of Pontelli: -
Shortly before heading off to the docks of Pontelli to check out a new small armed sloop while waiting for his first mate to return from Eslandola's Old World capital of Terelli... Captain Whiffo strode up and down the porch in ecstacy, gazing out across the large, verdant plantation now covered with ready-to-harvest oats. The workers scurrying hither and yon (under the watchful eyes of their monkey supervisors which Mayor da Pontelli had provided, of course) were an absolute pleasure to behold. The East Trade Wind Company had finally taken the large step he had meditated so long, and in no time it would assuredly be as large, powerful, and rich in the new world as it ever was in the old! (One of the monkey supervisors on his courier:) Wheels rattled along the road and the Captain looked up intelligently, if not mysteriously (mostly, you see, because he loved mystery, not because there was any real mystery in the whole affair). For once he was not carrying his beloved cutlass, as he was not sure but that it would get in the way while showing de Chauncourtois' niece about the house and new plantation which she had come out to see (though he was sorely inclined to regret leaving it behind as its clanking was the only thing missing - he thought - to perfect the sensation of mysteriousness) - but he might as well as have spared his pains, for he could have known from previous experience that his cutlass and his habit of rapping it on his hook and smashing it into everything was a constant source of amusement to de Chauncourtois' good-humored niece. The carriage rolled to a stop just before the door - and Captain Whiffo, throwing the cutlass with an effort out of his mind (for the present), bowed slightly and offered her his hand. "Good day, miss, shall I show you inside?" ...Speaking of which! - Let's go inside, shall we? Originally I had only been planning on the hinging wall, but in the end, the roof was detachable as well, so thankfully the interior was very easy to take pictures of! It is furnished with a large kitchen, Some furniture... An instrument - And a good-sized (if not over-sized ) fireplace: A few closeups: The pig-pen (the colors of which were inspired especially by Ayrlego's recent challenge entry, along with the rest of that collab)... And a final overview: And, I've finally finished! Just about ever since the launch of the Brethren of the Brick Seas I've been meaning to build a large plantation for the ETWC, but only recently have I been able to actually get around to planning and building it. Here's my section of the collab with Captain Braunsfeld (be sure to check out his excellent section here) for Eslandola's East Trade Wind Company. It took a great deal longer than I was hoping for (mostly due to RL), but I'm rather happy with how it turned out, and it was definitely fun (and somewhat challenging at times) to attempt to make it clearly part of the same plantation and yet give it my own touch (well, I suppose that last part came pretty naturally! ) Special thanks to Captain B for working on this collab and waiting very patiently for my side here to be complete! Credit goes to Gideon for the door design and to Legopard for the chair (slightly altered here), and the carriage is a modification of the one found in LEGO's excellent POTC London Chase. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Excellent build and excellent color choices, Jaapxaap! The dark blue roofs are superb and go very well with the Tudor and stone-work, and the fiery touches on the house and that tree growing along the wall are fantastic as well! The brown base goes neatly with the light blue landscaping too, and altogether this is an awesome build!

The plot thickens - and wow, that mayor didn't last very long! Very nice build, as the others have said, that shallow water looks great, and the jungle foliage is quite nice as well, the pineapple and SNOTed rocks being my favorite details If I had one nitpick, it be that the rather flat leafy section of the trees seems to indicate desert/Arabian type trees rather than jungle-ish ones, but getting trees to look right can definitely be pretty tricky! I'd suggest placing a round brown brick or a couple of studs between every two or three leaf pieces to make the top appear more roundish. Great idea with sending out men to free the barrels from the rocks too - an excellent way to combine practical aspects of running Lavalette with the on-going story! Looking forward to more!

I don't recall having seen very many ships with dark gray hulls, but it really does look neat here! The two cannons in the front of the hull and the figurehead are my favorite bits about this one now, but the railway around the cabin is a great detail as well, and the crew definitely looks to be a swashbuckling bunch! And lastly, thank you heartily for updating this ship! Whatever the results of the previous deliberations were (I can't even remember, and didn't take much part in the discussion), I'm glad to see that this ship was what came of it!

Thank you! The 110 DBs have been transferred Just goes to show how weird Mardierians can be 110 DBs have also been paid to the captain of the Golden Snake (Kai NRG) for the capture of a Mardierian warship.

To the Captain and Bishop Meloche of Charlatan Bay, Your service and those of your fellows in ridding the world of these pests to freeman and pirate alike have brought the nation of Eslandola the greatest pleasure and joy. We hope that that rogue nation of Mardier shall soon be brought to its senses (supposing, of course, that it has any, which is a matter of doubt), but in the meanwhile we may only thank you for your invaluable service to Eslandola and the Brick Seas. Always a pleasure, and with the best regards, E. T. Wilkinsons de Chauncourtois E. T. Wilkinson de Cauncourtois On behalf of the High Council of Eslandola The doubloons have been sent and should arrive at any moment (or likely, they already have)

Looks like a fairly smooth MRCA run overall. Please report yer captures in the LoM thread, all ye Eslandolan letter-of-Marque holders! Any chance that these two got swapped in the results? The Plunging Dagger was entered as the escort for the Fog-Breaker (and the Wringe II), not the other way around!

Neat build, Bregir, I particularly like the section around the door, and good job with the minifig expressions too! I do have one question about he Insurance company at the moment, though: Do you insure warships (or anything other than trading vessels)? And if so, do you still charge them based solely on their trading proceeds? If so, expect a lot of business from me! Oh, and make that two questions - what about free ships (especially where the builder already has more ships so they won't be getting that free ship back [whatever exactly are the rules there, anyways? Can't remember what we changed/didn't change ])? I assume they would work the same as all other ships, but just wanted to make sure!
-
Excellent little build, maestro, those trees are superb (I should really try some like that myself sometime!) and the irregular base looks great as well! The flowers and stream finish it off neatly, and as others have said, the fig combo is really cool!
-
I'm with Kai here, all those flags really complete this scene! Great work, SilentWolf, the activity and abundance of color work very well for such a build, and it's great to see the marriage finally coming about too! Enjoy you all's honeymoon in the wild!
-
Another excellent ship, LS, I really like those beak-heads and the stern, and the curves, sails, and rigging are all superb as well! Great to see all the crew there and enjoying themselves too, and is it a bad thing that I quite like the color-scheme? Awesome work, keep it up!
-
Excellent build, Ayrlego, inside and out! That roof and the white-dark tan color combination work fantastically, and the rock and archway underneath is great as well! The bell, lantern, Marja closing the trapdoor, and the trans-green below are some of my favorite details, and a hearty 'well done' to all of those who participated in this collab! Keep up the great work!
-
An the intrigue builds up! (hmm, very Eslandolan... ) Excellent build, Bregir - the architecture is very nice, and most appropriate for Terraversa The dark red and gold in particular look very good with the other, duller colors, and that signpost and the arches are great as well! Glad to have you on our side for this category, and looking forward to where this story leads!
