Ho-hum! Somebody's got a very nice opinion of Eslandola's forces! Well, very nice build overall, Bregir, your water is excellent as usual, and the colliding and capsizing boats are very neatly portrayed as well! I know what you were probably thinking about the Mardierian troops, too - unfortunately orange and yellow don't have a good deal of serviceable and common torsos in LEGO! (Somebody needs more Ninjago sets! ) You've got some really neat Eslandolan ones, though - pity they didn't make it!

An interesting cross between hilarious and terribleness in that Kraaken there, Kai! The eye gives it a bit of the cartoonish feel, and you've definitely managed to capture the motion of its flying arms very well! Very nice work with the rest of the build as well, especially the two houses on the left, the stone docks, and bread cart!

@Phred, no hurry, but whenever you've got time () could you add the ETWC oat bonus to its new large plantation? (150%, so the yield should be 45DBs instead of 30.) I think I marked it in the second (or third) page of the licence form, but I don't know if that's working yet, or I may have just messed it up myself Thanks, anyways!

Clever idea and a very nice restaurant, Sir Stig, the tan section looks great, and the caves behind are a very good addition as well! Love that hint at the secret ingredient too!

And, a pretty close to last minute entry from me (not as last minute as Kai's are going to be, though! ) - for Eslandola, of course! Fall of the Mardierian Fort on Isla de la Many Names- 164 replies

The invigorating air of the Isla de la Many Names wafted over the small fort overlooking the bay on the protected western side of the island. Birds flitted through the air, and all together it was a fine morning. Suddenly a boat full of Eslandola's finnest (the ETWC, of course!) appeared around the spit, doubling into view as the soldiers let out a valiant shout, and leapt into the water and towards the only path leading up the cliffs. This, smiled the Mardierian officer in charge, would be a golly good battle. "Light the fuse and man the cannon, mates!" Colonel Brickwall Jones was the officer commissioned to lead the beach landing section of Eslandola's attacking force for this ingenious operation. Not only was he a fine commander, he also was a very enthusiatic one and a rather good actor, so he was the perfect choice for the job. "Geronimo!!!" Colonel Brickwall Jones dashed out of the water and up towards the cliffs in front of his men, setting what would appear to be an excellent example. Unfortunately, however, the good fellow got a little too carried away with his part, and had underestimated the Mardierians' power of aiming... KaBLEWIE!!!! Well, let that be a lesson to you, folks, never get too enthusiastic when it's not really all that necessary... ...Anyways! - Shortly before, and on the other side of the cliffs... "There they go, boys, now it's our turn!" exclaimed the officer in command of the other division of the ETWC elite troops, on the other side of the rocks. For, you see, our Eslandolan's are nothing if not remarkably inventive and clever. So while the unfortunate Colonel Brickwall Jones led his distracting force down the obvious and obviously deadly approach to the fortress, the real attacking party had fought their way through the thick undergrowth of the jungle, and come up on the opposite side. True, there was no path up, but, of course, that wasn't any problem for the ETWC either. And while the Mardierians were enjoying their prospects of easy victory, that victory was rapidly slipping out of their (slippery) hands. The result? Well, before long the Eslandolan flag was flying gloriously over yet one more of the island's forts! For Eslandola! And, here's my entry for Category B of the ongoing challenge! It was a tolerably quick build, but I'm rather happy with how it turned out - jungle builds are just so much fun! The path (which extends nearly all the way up, goes off the base, and comes back in on top - unfortunately it was rather difficult to capture in the pictures!) and building such a tiny fort with sloping sides were definitely the hardest parts, but nothing to insuperable The turtle may have been my favorite part, though! And there are just a couple of closeups and figless overviews left, so I'll leave them here: The beach landing party, And the ex-Colonel Brickwall Jones: Figless: There you have it! Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Very nice build and excellent troops, Capt Wolf! Those Mardierian soldiers are great - those feathers work perfectly - and the cavalry charge was a very good idea as well! Sorry to see yet another Brickwall go down, though (especially such a brilliant one! )

[COR - Mar FB2] Moore House, Mooreton Bay (LDD)
Garmadon replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
An excellent as well as a tremendously huge build, Ayrlego! Very nice facade and statue (now we just need to get some bronze minifigs and horses in bricks! ), and I'm really glad to see you tying in the challenge prize with your story here! The interior, though, IMHO, is where this build really shines - the checkered floor works perfectly, and every floor is excellent in its own rite, but the top one is probably my favorite. Great job with those huge beds, and that dining room is just splendid!- 9 replies

Aha, not a bad tactic there, Maxim, and definitely an epic ship! The rigging is superb and the height incredibly imposing, and I can well believe that none of its poor victims got away to tell the tale before! Yet another brilliant, massive vessel from your shipyards - do keep it up!

[ESL - CH5B - for ESL] Admiral's End
Garmadon replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh, looks like that Admiral was at the wrong place at the wrong time! The cutaway and cannon battery on shore are quite nice, and that's definitely a creative way of using the footprint! And I know KB's never going to forgive me - but I really do like those little boats, packed with epic Eslandolans, best of all in this build! Keep it up! I would highly encourage you to try covering your blue water baseplates with either trans-clear, or a variety of trans-blues - I've been experimenting with it lately myself, and find that it can really make your water pop like few techniques do. It does take heaps of time and pieces, though! -

Hmm, and here I was going to put an organ in my next ship, I might have to rethink that... A neat beastie and story, quite a clever take on the category! I really like that ship as well - the dark red looks great, as do the hinged sides and lanterns, and the bow rails and sail on the bowsprit are some excellent sections too Keep it up (except you could build for Eslandola, you know )!

[OL - FB] The Argo, a class 4 trader
Garmadon replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice vessel, Phred, besides everything Capt Wolf said, the red looks quite nice here (you're not going Corry, are you? ), and I especially like the cones on the rail midships, and the flags used on the back! The ship overall does look a bit on the thin side to me, but maybe it's just quite fast Keep it up, and I'm looking forward to seeing those other projects! -
[OL - CH5B] Keeping the Keep
Garmadon replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah, excellent build, mate! Rock arches are usually superb, and this one definitely doesn't let down, and the keep itself is fantastic as well! The Eslandolan soldiers look great too (naturally ) and your minifigure posing is as life-like (and was probably as much a pain!) as it always is! Oh, and not to be behind - great job on those little boats! I'll have to try out that water technique sometime (if I ever have enough of the right pieces) as well! Oh, and one last thing - as an Eslandolan I'm delighted to see that the Mardierians went ahead and made the shooting slits in their keep just so that they'd channel in all the Eslandolan bullets- 10 replies

[OL Collab] Hotel Royal des Monnaies
Garmadon replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Aha, I do believe that this plot will keep thickening forever! So much for Eslandola being the faction all about intrigue! Excellent builds, guys, it's always great to see collaborations, but on this scale and between so many builders it's just taken a step farther! Congrats to you all! There's definitely far too many details to note them all, but some of my favorite parts are the epic front in KB's section (the front arch, balcony, and corners are particularly great), the floor mosaic on Robinnilson's, the lantern and use of a net to keep the chests down in Blackdeath's, and the bookshelves on BS's. Excellent job yourself as well, Capt G, the furniture is superb as are the wall textures and windows, and the imposing look up towards the Intendant's desk conveys the feeling perfectly as well! Oh, and add to that the little strip on both sides of the large center of the carpet - that's something I'm certainly going to try to keep in mind for the future myself! Great job, all, and keep up the blue builds and collabs! -
Thanks KB! I did indeed! Glad you like the water as well, I really liked how it turned out in the pics! Oddly though, I agree that the palm trees look a bit too flat here, but in person it wasn't really noticeable at all - at least not to me! Hmm, yes, I thought about including a monkey, but couldn't really find a good place... But no, the Captain's just spending his own money (a good thing, since my poor little 2A didn't last very long... ) Thanks Kai, glad you like it! I hope I can get the time to keep up with the stories! Very! Ha, ha, thanks Bregir! Credit to Kai (here) for some inspiration with the pier and green stuff, though! Exactly! Thanks Faladrin!

King's Port Advertiser, Special Edition New Terra’s most reliable source for news, shipping and otherwise. March 617. VOL 2, Special Edition Breaking news! Terraversa officially throws off the Mardierian yoke, and declares total independence! The whole island convulsed with joy! The Viceroy of Terraversa, Oldis Miro, has finally quit his vacillation between the two possible courses before him! The van guard of King Alphonso XIII's Death Guard had landed on the island and begun their deadly work, instilling fear, horror, or anger in the hearts of all true Terraversans. But now the Viceroy and his officers have officially signed a declaration of independence from the King and kingdom of Mardier, and Oldis Miro himself, at the head of the Terraversan troops, is said to have run the Death Guard into the sea! The bells of King's Port ring for joy, and the citizens are in its streets, cheering and applauding as their governor returns from his excursion. Peace has also been signed with the Eslandolan and Garveyan forces, and the Viceroy has promised men to support in the war effort against the common foe. ...But some in Terraversa still shake their heads, predicting a terrible revenge to come from Mardier at the end of the war. Only time will tell! Or, put otherwise, Category A results: Winning Side: 1st Place: Eslandola 2nd Place: Mardier Faction Winners: 1st Place: Corrington 2nd Place: Sea Rats 3rd Place: Oleon Individual Winners: 1st Place: Ayrlego (ESL) - Prize, 1 battalion of Terraversan mercenaries, free of charge and upkeep (may be raised now or at any future period), and 41149 Moana's Island Adventure (to be shipped at the end of the challenge - unless you win another category, of course... - and thanks to Silent Wolf for pointing that out!) Wow! Excellent job on that bear, seems like large animals is definitely your strong point! Wonderful elven architecture here as well, though, the curving horns and recessed arches work very well, and the texture floor and walls, with the light trans-green touches, finish off the scene perfectly! You've definitely been improving fast, and this would probably my favorite build of yours yet! Keep it up!

Book II Challenge V Category B: Mitgardian preparations
Garmadon replied to Puvel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'd have to agree with the others - beautiful little house in the background there! The colors work perfectly, and that skin hanging in front of the door is a brilliant touch as well! Great job showing the action too (do I spot your BoBS sig-fig there? )! -
Book II, Challenge V, Cat B: Armored Battle Wagon
Garmadon replied to Legofin2012's topic in Guilds of Historica
That looks like quite a neat (and fun! ) war machine, Legofin, the wooden slanting sides give it a very sleek feel, and that crossbow is perched perfectly there as well! I do agree that the overview picture is a little busy - probably the fact that the machine blends in so well with the surrounding landscape is to blame for that - but the rockwork itself is excellent, as is the work in progress (NPU on that painter, as SK said! ) -
Book II, Challenge V, Cat B: Donderbeest Assault Platform
Garmadon replied to Oikonomikos's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ah, an excellent idea and a very nicely executed one as well! That beast looks like a fearful creature to be up against, and wall of Petraea is very nicely portrayed too! My main piece of advice would be to try using some more tiles when working with brown in general - you'll find that the smooth surfaces usually work much better at simulating wood than excessive studs That coat of arms on the gate of the War Academy is really splendid, though!
