This is getting more strange, new situation with MOC-ers intellectual property... however I have ambivalent feelings. LDD file WAS available on ideas for Barnes and Noble / Starbucks, so everybody could download it for a while. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36775 LDD's built in instructions maker is not that bad for system MOCs, I wonder if Lepin just used it for the manuals.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
agrof replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think there is enough new parts. There is still a lot potential in existing parts (not to mention the combination with System elements), and in this perspective a driver like cost cutting is good soil for creativity. -
[WIP] [Scale] Trabant 601
agrof replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It works like this: -push and down = Reverse -middle position down = 1st -middle position up = 2st -pull and down = 3rd -pull and up = 4th If You achieve 2 of these, You are already a winner for me! Looks better, even with battery, great! -
[WIP] [Scale] Trabant 601
agrof replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As an ex-owner (actually my father still has one in pieces), I follow with great interest this topic. We had fun times with ours, and despite the marvelous 26 PS, it was pretty agile. I must notice some "issues", if You make a scale model, there are some displacement. The black big "box" on the back top is the fuel tank, the tiny dusty gray covered part in the front left is the engine with permanent air ventillation cooling. Fan is on the left side of the engine. It is really that tiny. The tube on it, is the air filter, and the very huge curved tube on the right is the heating "system", it drives the hot air from the engine area to the cabin. The straight one below is for "cool air", air flow comes directly from grill. I understand, that the gearbox in LEGO Version will not fit in original place (below the heat-tube), but would be nice to see if the shifter could be placed beside the steering wheel - as in reality. That would be a key-feature - see second picture, the shifter is leaning downwards. Go Trabi, Go! -
42065 RC Tracked Racer Replica
agrof replied to Alex Ilea's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Quick build, wow! Would be great to have finally the small battery box (or even the rechargable!) in an official set, we will see... The track layout is a bit different, and try to use Pulley Wheels as on the picture instead of gears. They run outer of the middle section of the tracks (like in 42032), so the result should be lot smoother. -
[TC10] KOMATSU PC200
agrof replied to Alexander 2002's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks quite good, but as written, hard to justify for the competition. There are Topics about how to take good pictures, f.e.: and another good learning stuff: http://sariel.pl/2011/07/photo-processing-tutorial/ You can also make the colors more coherent by buying extra parts via Bricklink or Brickowl - if needed. Hope this helps, welcome here on Eurobricks! -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion

The shock absorber could be easily fitted inside the Gastank area, so telelever-kind of solution is possible. I hope they did it, + cardan driveshaft. If so, than instant buy for me. I like the plane (and all models), it looks cool, and be honest: not the visually "small" wings are the cause, that this thing will not fly. -
Lobst3r, a walking robot

HAHA, very cool creation! I love the leg mechanism, and the whole creature a lot! It would be great to see such product line within Technic: animals, human hand, robot arm, things a bit out of the box.- 15 replies

Those concept drawings are made for the cartoon series/movies - which indeed contain official sets or variants of them. There is no such for Technic. -
Good news, I am curious how will the story end up. Seeing what is happening in other industries, I am not sure what will happen, but fingers crossed for LEGO. Lepin must learn a lesson (Intellectual Property), but seeing the reviews, and the quality of their products, I hope they can develop own designs, and will be ready for a healthy competition.

Bit off: It is a different story what You describe. Your ex-company acted as supplier. What I sketched, the main company who owns the brand, in the goal of growth, invest to build up an alternative brand. They supply all the technology and know-how, with some compromises, to be able to sell the product on actual market (like lower quality). Alternative brand is needed to protect the original, and not to mismatch them. The main company actually owns this shadow one, maybe not transparently or even secretly, but financially in the background, so the wallet will be filled via two or more channels. In this way they made the expansion on global market, and prevent copycats. And also comes to the story, that China is a very-very special case, you can not compare with western business modells. The chinese state is co-owner in every company, whatever size... and there are mega-factories there, like VW, Daimler, BMW etc... way above LEGO. Automotive producers went there to get a slice from a huge cake, and therefore they made sacrifices. Money speaks. I hope understandable, what I typed. ON: Curious on news from Lepin, what will come next... and how durable their Power Functions will be. Strange to see Lepin's such quick growing portfolio. I stay loyal to LEGO for the moment. I can withstand greediness to own everything on Earth.

Conspiration theory anyone? What if Lepin is an unpromoted / hidden part of the LEGO Group, which is dedicated for a special market, with slightly lower quality, for much affordable local price? This is not unusal practice for different industires (automotive, IT, ...), so it is a common move to prevent not only piracy in countries, where customs or ideology (or both) would block otherwise the expansion. Actually, whatever, don't take this line too serious!

[WIP] Massive Dump Truck
agrof replied to Lego2016Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This MOC made a long way, and getting better and better overall. In this stage, I would make a revision, where to remove unnecessary pins, reinforce the structure, if there are illegal building moves - and how to avoid them. Don't be afraid to rebuild, what You are not 100% satisfied with. Keep on building! -
Volvo FH and EW 160 Play Set
agrof replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If You open the model in LDD, go to File menu - Export BOM. You can get an excel file with quantities, part numbers, pictures, color as result. Hope this helps. -
Just checked, as long they give the credits (maybe a link would be also welcome to the source) and don't sell these, I think it is fine to spread the MOCs to everyone who loves LEGO. Shared knowledge. p.s.: Can somebody please write them, that please add the author's name to each model, and a link to the source? Thank You in advance!
