  1. I'm just going off of past sets. It's not something they have really done in non-licensed themes. I'd love to be wrong about that, but that's my perception.
  2. This was inspired by another build here: http://www.eurobrick...82674&hl=cannon This was a really fun little build. Let me know what you think.
  3. Im not sure the focus on interiors is a realistic expectation, but I love that idea.
  4. If you're talking about the one with the owl on it, that's because there's a chimney on the outside corner (under the owl) that I didn't get a good photo of. Aside from that, I wanted the outside walls to have crenellations and the inside walls to have some semblance of a roof for visual interest. It may not be to your taste, but there is reason behind it.
  5. Thanks a lot for the replies! It truly is appreciated. I had too, and one day just started on the front gate. It grew pretty organically, section by section, which i really enjoyed. It felt natural to plan as I went instead of having a master plan in place before starting. the main structure was fun, but I think the best part was filling out the interior details. It seemed to tell more of a story that way and I'm happy I was able to cover the main aspects. (Keep, dungeon, dining hall, kitchen, blacksmith, wizards tower, stables and barracks)
  6. Nice build! I like the wall and roof removal for accessibility.
  7. I don't disagree on the first point, just thought that the subject was focused on figs. While I'm not personally that interested in Ancient Greek/Roman subject matter, I do see the potential and hope that we get something along those lines in the future.
  8. I suppose, but sometimes less is more. I'd rather not have ice legs and other such nonsense in castle. Also, from a printing standpoint the 2013 theme was good, the design of the heraldry was just lame. That's what people found disappointing.
  9. Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I think upping the scale on those parts would add some grandeur. Unfortunately at the time of building, this took almost every grey brick I had. I'm glad I have photos now. Hopefully I can work up the courage to dismantle this one to build some other MOCs.
  10. I suppose, but it's kind of sad to have at least a whole year with no castle of any kind. I would much rather be concerned about spending too much than just sit around knowing it'll be months before we even hear anything about new product.
  11. Very nice! I particularly like how you handled the curve of the body toward the rocker panels.
  12. It all started out with the desire for a proper home for my Crownies, and the idea of an up-scaled castle that still fits for the most part with the Lego set aesthetic, so no over-the-top landscaping. The other factor is that I wanted it to look complete (no missing walls) but still have access to the interiors with realistic paths to anywhere in the structure (stairs/ladders) wherever possible. So with that in mind, I present Stonehinge Castle: More photos in my photobucket. http://s40.photobuck...O?sort=3&page=1 Let me know what y'all think!
  13. Not a satisfactory third wave.
  14. Let's hope that's not the case. Castle does not need helicopters and tanks.
  15. This may not be as creative, but I just go by the bricklink categories.
  16. I thought it was weird at first but I think it works as it is.
  17. Hah, that's the spirit! We should do a heraldry design contest. The only rule is no lions or dragons.
  18. I'd be fine with that, but it seems unlikely to me.
  19. How about this answer: yes and no. :) I think the classic castles had it right: 6080 & 6085 were large and modular with plenty of room to grow. Sets like Kings Mountain Fortress were supplemental, adding interest but otherwise smaller, which was just fine for me as a kid. I loved both styles. Where raised baseplate castles didn't work for me was with the later, larger castles who's names I can't remember because they just don't work as well. They used the height to skip out on having good walls and an interesting structure and had nowhere to grow.
  20. That's from a traveling museum exhibit that's been around at least a couple of years. I don't think there's any chance of seeing that design in real life. Edit: looks like it's at least 5 years old... http://www.baylor.edu/mayborn/index.php?id=73513 I do like the tower heraldry though.
  21. I remember all too well. I actually went back and read the first 20 or so pages of the 2013 thread and its remarkable to see how similar our collective wishes are 3 years later, and warch the face palm moment when the sets were revealed. On another note, I have to wonder if castle will play a bigger part in the next Lego movie. If a fresh castle theme is about a year into its cycle it'll be prime for inclusion, and I bet the film makers will be looking to other themes to keep things new and exciting, especially since "Middle Zealand" was pretty much skipped over in the first one.
  22. Perhaps not, but it is right in line from a conceptual standpoint, and I think that's what people are backing here. I would personally have preferred that the MOC had been designed with production concerns in mind, but either way it's a message to TLG that lots of fans want to see more sets like MMV.
  23. Ok, that's just taking things to a whole new level. Love it!
  24. Super cool! It's all good but the lettering steals the show. Very nice work.
