  1. That is just not true, but it could be a language issue. All sheep are white: False Most sheep are white: True
  2. There were female knights. They didn't compete at tournament or battle in war in the traditional sense. But there were female knights, some of which defended their city, many of whom ran hospitals of the day.
  3. Jagger, while I appreciate the optimism, there are some assumptions there that I think might be qualified as wishful thinking. I hope you're right, but in the mean time, that leaves many of us pretty much SOL for the next few years if this theme is as wacky as it sounds like it's going to be. Waiting isn't the worst thing in the world, but for someone like me, Middle Earth sets aside (which were great and I bought most of them), we haven't gotten good quality yellow-faced Castle sets since Kingdoms, which hasn't been around for what, 4 or 5 years? I know we got Joust in 2012, but that was one Lego store exclusive set. Otherwise, it's been since 2011 (no, 2013 castle doesn't count as "quality" to me). That puts us at 2019 before we get the hope of good Castle sets again. 8 years, man. Fingers crossed. I would love to be wrong about my own assumptions about this theme.
  4. Just because it isn't important to you doesn't mean it isn't important.
  5. Brandy, I fundamentally disagree with all of your points. A good logo must function in just about any context, especially white. That said, I am happy to agree to disagree. Heck, I'm having fun having a design discussion. :-)
  6. Fair points. There is indeed a time and place for a bevel. That said, there is no excuse for the terrible treatment of lighting with regard to the bevel. For the glow, a black or grey glow violates the physical definition of a glow. Therefore, it's interpreted as a shadow. Lastly, I agree that the logo needs it for legibility, which highlights my overriding point: "look ma, I can use photoshop" band aids for poor design.
  7. The designer in me has some problems with it. Specifically, it's that the letter forms were clearly designed at the same scale, and then "KNIGHTS" was just shrunk down, leaving the little artifacts (like the notches in lower left of the K) in the type at roughly 75% scale relative to "NEXO". It would be better if those artifacts remained the same scale so it didn't seem like an afterthought. Edit: Also, the lighting on the bevel (really, a bevel?) is inconsistent. It seems to be mostly lit from the bottom left (which is weird), but it varies all over the place. If one of my designers did that to a logo we'd have to have a talk. Edit #2: And a drop shadow. For crying out loud, why in the hell does it need a drop shadow? It doesn't even respond like it's an effect of lighting or position, just a grey glow around it. Face palm.
  8. That seems HIGHLY unlikely. What is more likely, is that it's a variance from that one retailer, and either people who shop there are just lucky, or that price will be corrected in the near future.
  9. That's an interesting discussion point: what makes for the minimum level of acceptable from a parts perspective for this theme? I'm not sure for myself. Good, usable heraldry would go a long way to redeem this theme. Usable colors and parts would help a lot too. Chima didn't offer much in that way. Orange wing pieces are pretty useless.
  10. Kind of. We can infer that to a degree, but it's never determined by more than a fig or 2 one way or the other.
  11. With the rumored TV-crapification of Castle next year, I'm hoping they'll throw us some regular historic figs somewhere in the CMF line.
  12. I like a certain level of accessibility in my hobbies. Limitations of budget or space can be obstacles that require creative solutions. I'd rather see a home built hot rod than a perfect show car, and that translates to Lego the same way. I still marvel at the exotics and the impractical but beautiful builds, and thoroughly enjoy them, but there is often a story behind the things that aren't done with limitless resources. With that said, I think the term "artistic" applies to both, but I see what you were getting at with the question.
  13. What does any of that have to do with us getting awesome castle sets, parts and minifigs? A TV show may need those things, but a theme that delivers on the kinds of things that most of us here value doesn't need a TV show. I tried watching Ninjago and Chima, and it was painful.
  14. Hahah, perhaps not, but if this turns out to be Knights Nexo, you've got some 'splainin to do. :-P
  15. The thread was moving too fast for me to comment on that one, but I'll sum up by saying that TLGs profits are not my concern. I'm fortunate enough to be a selfish consumer and reserve the right to whine when they don't cater to my tastes. With that in mind, KK2 was an unmitigated failure whether it made money or not. It's almost universally reviled, and in my opinion, for good reason.
  16. We don't usually find out case distribution until WhiteFangs review.
  17. I hope Fast Car is the same scale as the Highway Speedster. I love those sized car builds and we're due for another.
  18. KK3? Somebody please shoot me. It's like my worst Lego nightmare coming true.
  19. From the other thread: Just2good is a good dude by my reckoning, but as a source for insider info, I have to believe that this is not a question, but a statement. I think we should expect that this is indeed a "future knights" concept.
  20. Maybe you guys are seeing something I'm not, but the weapon selection in those Chima tribe packs doesn't look that good to me. That said, if I was at all into that theme, I'd be all over army building sets like that.
  21. Eh, it's a philosophical difference, but hope leads to disappointment. If castle is truly turning into an action theme, history shows that it's going to be a technicolor screw job. If it turns out being great, a pleasant surprise will be a welcome one.
  22. Just2good is one of the (if not the best) informants when it comes to inside information. If he "bets" it's going to be like Chima, we should prepare ourselves for the likelihood that "castle" is going to suck really bad.
  23. That sounds like an F'ing nightmare. Agreed on all points except that I don't need 1800 part sets. Those $200ish sets are barriers for kids and we would do well to temper our wish lists with some level of reality.
  24. Ninjago is about as historic as galaxy squad. You know, since we've been to space.
