Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
SirBlake replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love it that we're discussing color theory in here. I too have a design degree and have applied it in my work. I get the Christmas connotation enough to notice it with this knight, and I do feel it's a slightly odd combination because of it. That said, not everything has to match in a knight's arsenal. Individually the parts are great and I'll be getting a bunch of them. All things considered, I do think it's the best knight so far in the CMF line. -

Whitefang's review really shows off the greatness of that knight. The dark green is really well done and get a load of the vambraces on the arms! Love it. I agree the red/green is a little strange, but it doesn't bother me. It's fantastic for parts and wonderful to see the new shield in use. -

These are spectacular! Very well executed and the 16x16 seems to force some creativity that leads to great results. Thanks for sharing.

That's an interesting thought. Minifigs are the most distinguishing feature of any theme. A full 16 fig castle series would be incredible. The question there would be, would you want 16 entirely different options, or a few factions that are well represented? For example. A knight, soldier and archer for two human factions and three different goblins or whatever in another with civilians and royals rounding it out? I would spend a stoopid amount of money on something like that. -

Some great offerings in this series. Love the look of the knight and his mace and the use of the new shield mold. The queen is just perfect, I don't know what else I can say there except the dress piece is magnificent. The satyr is so cool, and I can't believe TLG created new legs. They look fantastic. The winged warrior is also pretty cool, even though that is A LOT of pearl gold. Overall, great series and I'm happy that historic themes are getting attention. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion

Awesome! So pleased to get some historic love. I'll be buying multiples of those. -
The gold looks great with the crownie blue. Those Gondor soldiers look fantastic. Such an injustice that TLG never made them.

Very pleasing geometry.

Dang, I'm really hoping for a January release. I can't wait that much longer for my Lego Mustang.

I'm an optimist. I'll take both!

I thought for sure I had commented on this build somewhere before, but just in case I'm imagining things: This is amazing. Some truly innovative ideas to have this be modular-within-modular, where you can attach elements to a wall or tower to change it. So cool. I would throw so much money at this if it were real.

Since this thread is back to the top, I have to say thanks for this stellar review. It was wonderful to reference when I considered buying this set and I'm really glad I did. One of my favorite sets for sure.

Did you guys see the new headpiece for the satyr/fawn? Pretty spectacular. While not necessarily a fit for traditional castle, certainly a useful piece for fantasy and mythological stuff. -
Fantastic review! I'm glad I got this one if for no other reason, Smaug is indeed great. The rest of the set is ok.

There are ways to survey and gather statistically useful data without polling every single consumer. Lego does this on their own site from time to time. They don't share the findings though, so I suppose it's a moot point.

I totally forgot about the 'Vette. So cool. I hope this theme keeps going, and we keep getting such cool and varied designs. My interests lie mostly around american muscle, so this wave is perfect for me. That said, a third wave with some Japanese classics would be really cool. GTR, Supra, RX-7, etc.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion

What a nice surprise! I think the gargoyle piece could have been made to work, but this is much better. I have no problem with that. -
I'd prefer not to get too mired in the "value of AFOLs to TLG" discussion, but I would like to highlight a secondary benefit: Many, if not most of us have kids, and the amount of money spent on Lego for my daughter is considerably higher than it would be if I were not an AFOL. We play and build together a lot, and if I were just a regular dad, she'd likely be choosing Barbie or American Girl dolls more than she already does instead of Lego.

All of that sounds good. The medieval thief especially.
