  1. Great point. I really don't know how that decision making happens. TLG just seems more wrapped up in market research and focus groups and lately has been going big and flashy at the expense of the formerly described "evergreen" themes. The sad part is, it wouldn't take much to satiate the castle/pirate/space types with small offerings. A single city modular size set per year or 3 under-$50 sets per year would do so much to keep the community satisfaction high. There are just so many of us that feel forgotten. It's really putting a black mark on the hobby.
  2. It's too subjective to answer definitively, but I can say that for myself, I surely wouldn't include anything from KKII. My personal favorites are the original 80's 6080 King's Castle and the King's Mountain Fortress. Black Knight's castle is a close runner up.
  3. No one can say for sure, but I feel confident in saying that it's HIGHLY unlikely. Never got one Gondor soldier. Sad/weird.
  4. Man, that's a great list. Hard to improve upon. Fun idea for a thread too! I'll put some thought to it and see if I can come up with anything that hasn't already been mentioned.
  5. Man, this is something special. Fantastic work! you got some press coverage on a really cool car site too... https://petrolicious.com/articles/this-lego-mooneyes-garage-has-all-the-right-pieces
  6. Man, this one went fast (or felt like it did). I didn't get a chance to vote but I'm glad the Rogue won. One of my very favorite minifigs for sure.
  7. Western counts as historic, but early 20th century might be pushing it I counted up up how many I would get if this was a real series, and VERY conservatively speaking, I would get at least 25 from this wave, doing some small army building with the most appropriate of them (like Mummy Warrior).
  8. Man, these are fantastic. I would buy almost every one, and multiples of several.
  9. Gosh, TLG is really kickin' me in the shorts the last couple of years. All I want to do is give them lots of money, but they aren't producing anything I want.
  10. I agree that there's no way it's intentional trolling. I also still feel slighted that these perfectly good references are buried in in a theme that's very existence feels like an insult. Not bashing NK out of sport here, just how I feel.
  11. It's just a lame group. Whatever wins is going to get crushed in the next round.
  12. Zombie pirate. - zombies are fun - it's a good fig in general - it's a revisit of a previous fig in a fun way.
  13. Wow! I immediately recognized the air scoops in the grille. Very well done.
  14. Man, if there were a theme around that, I'd just buy everything within 20 miles, lol. The black falcon's heraldry is a plus, but as long as they were well designed (like yours or Alexandre's), I'd be in, big time.
  15. 16 costumes... not sure there's much there for me, but it's hard to ignore the success of costumed characters in the past.
  16. You and your Disney series 2. It's starting to get on my nerves.
  17. That looks great. Definitely has that old firebird feel.
  18. It's hard to imagine a concept that fits that criteria. Something fun to look forward to though.
  19. So I got the Bugatti today and it, more than any other Speed Champions car, is just laughable in its proportions. The real car is so wide, and the set is like a dang kayak. I need to acquire some more blue slopes to fix this thing. I understand that TLG has their own style with cars but I think this thing kind of sux. Subjective opinion of course.
  20. Man these are great! I look forward to the detailed photos.
  21. I think you may be right, and if so, depending on what it is, could be just as good or better.
  22. Well, simply put, they could just promote it that way. "40th anniversary tribute minifigs" Done.
  23. 1978 minifigs consisted of very basic archetypes. Mostly Police, Fire Fighters, Space Guys and Knights with a few very plain civilians thrown in there. (please correct me if I'm wrong here) TLG has done vintage revisits before which were faithful recreations of the originals. What I'd like to see if they go that route is for them to apply their CMF team creativity to these and give us updated versions of them. Another angle is that they could take highlights from across those 40 years and do the same thing. For example, there weren't pirates in 1978, but they could pick a classic example of one and include it in this series.
