  1. Hi! I finally dismantled it. Here are some photo instructions (which are just reverse-ordered photoshoot of my dismantling of it). Now everybody who owns the 9470 can easily build it. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=514402
  2. How about mixing with
  3. Q1: Is there any reason one would wish to separate these two parts? Q2: Is there a way to do so without damaging them? (Moot point I guess if the unanimous answer to Q1 is no)
  4. Great MOCs. Youtube suggested that video after viewing one of the links posted here. How to undress a woman with an excavator
  5. Great MOC Would have been even beter if you used the light brick included in the official set
  6. I guess these guys will have to do for the task of defending Minas Tirith for now... and they are cheap and plentiful to boot And these guys, I guess, to reinforce Sauron's mighty army
  7. Do you think those ghostly soldiers + king of the dead are glow in the dark, like the ghosts and vampires from the Monsters Fighters theme?
  8. 8258's main model has many flaws. The outriggers are a joke. You need to manually extend the end "legs" and it's far too weak - any force towards the front and they bend and twist! The crane's final 2 mechanisms (winch + arm extender) are a joke, not connected to the main system. I have the 8258 built on my table right now, yet I do not own it - I built it from parts from my collection (many color substitutions, notably the large panels). I do not regret my decision. Yes, it IS is nice parts pack, but none of them are rare apart from the long gear racks. For all the complexities of the geartrain in the middle, it fails to deliver.... it's a shoddily operated crane. 8110's crane however, is completely operated from outside the crane itself. That, and pneumatics are cooler than actuators.
  9. I was wasting time looking at the Bricklink catalog entries and DARN! Those Belville babies sure were a creepy lot. We could do some pretty darn spiffy disturbing horror themed MOCs out of these. It's a wonder this theme lasted this long.

  11. Like most, I love Technicopedia and I await Blakbird's next update. My favorite parts of the site are 1) the details about the new technic parts each year brings. By far my favorite feature. 2) the grouping of sets by subject. Ex: a list of all the backhoes, a list of all the mobile cranes, all the helicopters, etc With that said, I do enjoy the animations of the mechanisms, but that's probably what's taking the most work.
  12. Last friday I managed to snatch Lego Technic sets 9396 and 9398 at 20% off at TRU. Considering the TRU prices were initially, EXACTLY like Lego.com ($150 and $250, no TRU tax)!, $120 for 9396 and $200 for 9398 was a pretty sweet deal, totalling $320 instead of $400.
  13. Me likes! I wanna see their minifig counterparts standing next to them (or more likely, on their heads!)
  14. The 8070 is a good set, although I would have prefered the gearbox to be used to shift gears, and the motor to drive the engine.
  15. Most of you already listed the more recent bad ones... How about this oldie.... why did I buy this again? Oh yeah, because it was cheap.
  16. I have a massive 80s and 90s lego technic collection (mostly bought in 2002-2003), and so far every single electronic/pneumatic element still works fine. Tested them recently. *knocks on wood*
  17. You're not including the fire chief cars that we've gotten as parts of bigger sets?
  18. Here is the official Alan Lee picture from the book. Goblin King Picture Link.
  19. Complex enough, yet I don't see any part newer than 1997 or so. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=429049
