  1. Yeah, I fixed the link, it's brickfactory.info Here are the buttons you must press to access the Dragster B model: All scans - BY NUMBER On the list box above: select 8400-8499 Then go 3/5 of the way down.
  2. The now defunct Power Puller website also had instructions for a dragster alternate model (in a friggin flash animation). I saved it to my hard drive, printscreen by printscreen, and then a few years ago I sent them to http://www.brickfactory.info
  3. Cool set. This and 8431 were the very first 2 sets I got out of my dark ages in 2002. I still have my videocassette that came with it, but my old VCR is in bad shape, Did anyone ever bothered to upload the video somewhere?
  4. Good luck! One day Lego will come out with a motor that is extremely light weigth & powerful and a battery box that, while short-lasting, will be extremely lightweight. Add in specialized rotor blades and we'll have flying Lego for real.
  5. Get 8110. 8258 is big, but it has no particularly rare or special parts you can't get from other sets (except from the very long gear racks; it needs 7). Heck I don't own it and managed to build it (and 8053 at the same time) from pieces of my existing collection! (using only bricklink for those long gear racks). 8110 comes with tons of those large panels, in gray instead of red. I don't like the crane of 8258. It's weak, slow, and the motor doesn't control the crane extension nor the winch! About the outriggers: I also dislike how you need to use lttle mechanisms at the end of them, in addition to the motorized mechanism; it defeats the purpose. Compare to the elegant way 8431 & 8421 did it... 9398 is ugly, and far too simple; people only want it for the new motors.
  6. Going on 10 years and still sticking strong, but they were in a ziploc for most of that time. I got myself a spare brand new sheet just in case, though,
  7. I haven't found any topic discussing this since I joined EB. Perhaps this is due to Lego being smarter with their stickers nowadays. For instance, neither 9473 nor 4207 had STAMPs despite being very sticker-intensive sets, Thumbs up LEGO! For 4207 for instance, the big sign is split among several individual stickers. Of course the best solution is always to not use them, but what do you think of my solution for STAMPS I DO want to apply: I apply them on bricks then use a very sharp exacto knife and expertly cut the sticker across the separation. For sets such as 3451 and 2556, this was a very long and tedious process since stickers span several layers of small plates at once. Not for the impatient nor for the unsteady hand.
  8. I'm travelling with a MISB box (set 3315, Olivia's House, christmas present) which will be inside the luggage compartment of a large coach. I called the coach company and they said today the temperature might go around -5 degrees Celsius; the ride will take 7 hours. Do you think this will damage the sticker sheet coming with this set? Should I unseal it and take the sticker sheet inside then reseal it after I've arrived? I don't think a 8 year old girl would notice that the adhesive tape is not the original Lego one. But I don't wanna unseal it unless absolutely necessary. Please reply quickly, I leave in 2 hours. Thanks
  9. Just came back from watching it! (in regular 24fps, so I can't comment on that.). I loved it, I felt the only low point was the inclusion of Saruman. They really made him into a bumbling idiot, which is a shame considering how intimidating he was in FotR.
  10. Just bought my ticket online. Seeing it this evening, in 3D. $15 is kind of a ripoff, but I hardly go to see movies in theaters anymore, so... EDIT: Excellent Cineplex Odeon interview with the actor playing this guy http://www.cineplex.com/News/Interview-The-Hobbit-s-Richard-Armitage.aspx?cmpid=homepage_showcase
  11. LOL at USA residents complaining about Lego prices... you guys have it easy... BIG TIME.
  12. That is awesome! Thanks! A few actors are missing, though... Balin, Kili, Bofur and Bombur! (Which oddly, , 3/4 of these were the first minifigs to be revealed in the Bag End set)
  13. Anyone seen it yet?
  14. 15. Meh. No thanks. I'll stick with my 6581, thank you very much.
  16. Great review! Here's how I motorized mine with motor fromt the late 90s: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=71936
  17. You probably mean the hobbit BOARD game, yes?
  18. Right on. I have been an AFOL since 2002 and I have listened to this criticism (online and in person) for an entire decade, usually from adults a 5-10 years older than me (I'm 37) who, in their childhood missed out on the start of the dominance of themed Lego. There have been a plethora of special (note: special != over-specialized) parts in Lego sets since the mid 80s, some would argue earlier with classic space. My answer now to this is: (Person in his/her mid 40s, usually a parent): "I wish there wasn't so many over-specialized parts in Lego sets today. It seem it's more like a jigsaw puzzle than a building set. When I was a kid we would build whatever we want with tons of basic bricks" My answer: "Yes, there are a lot more special parts today, but they aren't single purpose. The more your collection grows, the more use you find for them. With modern Lego sets what you can build grows exponentially once you collect 3 or 4 sets and then you start to crave special parts and the increased possibilities they offer you that basic bricks don't."
  19. Love it Arguably the best Technic-Superheroes MOC of all time. This deserves to be reposted on the Licenced forum.
  20. I hope the dirt bike has beams on both sides of the rear wheel (8051 did, but 8420 didn't)
  21. Are my eyes getting old? I swear it looked green in my room, must be the lightbulb. But after taking that pic it look more blue. I have to take a look at my fig tomorrow in actual sunlight. That's Eomer's cape, (set 9471) BTW 2nd pic, hi-res http://pages.infinit...ue/PC010004.JPG
  22. He looks way better with a standard long cape in dark green (ie: eomer's) than that new weird looking triangle cape No thanks
  23. RohanBeckett has it correct, too much friction for 1st gear when pushing it along. With the 4.5V motor it's the opposite, it's the 3rd gear you have to lock due to the motor not being strong enough. As for a version without the shock absorber piece: I don't believe it exists. If it did, another earlier instruction booklet would exist, and it would have spread on the internet in no time. And the only version we know of has the spring piece. http://belay.peeron....cans/8860-1/24/
