Great set, but to my disappointment I found the elevator descends on its own as soon as there is a car on it. (The long red pin doesn't provide enough friction). Here is my very easy fix to add even more friction to the winch. You HAD to replace the 2x3 brick with two 2x3 plates + one 2x2 plate otherwise the gear's teeth touch the stud. Parts needed: 1 x 2 x 2 x 1 x I have noticed people complaining about the elevator not going down when there is no car - this is unrelated to this. I have found the best way to deal with this is just making sure all bricks and tiles on the shaft are really tight, making sure no friction comes from the contact with the shaft.

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
SheepEater replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Can anybody give me a short tutorial how to make a basic train overpass with 9v track without it losing current? I get that I'm supposed to have only a 1 plate height difference between each end of each track, but beyond that, I'm inexperienced.- 578 replies

A question to Lego Events veterans about Theft
SheepEater replied to SheepEater's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Mods can you please move this to the General forum? Thanks -
This one goes into more detail. The comment you see (whplague) is me. I play dumb and pretend to be someone who doesn't know much about toys, while still plugging Lego Friends

Yeah, about 3 hours, but gas + car rental is expensive, so although I will visit a few times per year (my brother and his small family still lives there after all), I won't have the option to go there to spend/accumulate VIP points. Otherwise I just ride my bike everywhere (and use public transit in Dec/Jan/Feb)

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff

Does anybody know on what real life train the locomotive from set 4565 is based on? I love this set. It makes me feel I'm in a dirty, segregated, industrial part of a large city, which I think Lego pulled off very well.- 578 replies

A french speaking Lego customer service guy just informed me that they were planning on opening the first Lego store in the Quebec province... in Montreal. Considering I lived 18 years in Montreal, it's too bad they decided to do it right after I moved to Quebec City.

Why LEGO is the best company in the world
SheepEater replied to eiker86's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks, very heartwarming. I've sent this video to a Bricklink seller who has 22 of these to sell, MISB. Let's see his reaction. -
Which Hobbit set are you most looking forward to?
SheepEater replied to Ferrik's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am wondering this constantly as well. Sure, there are fewer of us ravenous AFOLs than kids... but by how many exactly? -
I agree with those who said that the Helm's Deep's set has tons EXCELLENT basic bricks. Even if you pay full price, you can almost get the value of the set back by selling the minifigs on Bricklink. ESPECIALLY King Theoden, Haldir and the Berserker, as those are exclusive to this set and likely won't ever appear again in a future LotR wave, and they can easily fetch $20-25. each.

I beg to differ. Cmon, it's a Lego minifig. It's impossible not to make even the nastiest creature adorable!

With these cute animals polybags, Lego are starting to go into My Littlest Pet Shop territory (which is HUGE among little girls)

Hey guys, slightly off-topic, but for those of you who don't know, Lego Friends' success did not go unnoticed by its biggest competitor... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74617

On this video we can get a closer look. Just as bad as we thought.... huge pre-fab pieces. The Barbie minidolls DID rip Lego off in one way: the arms with their oversized claw-like hands are almost identical!

Personally, I'm hoping for at least 3 full years with alternating waves of Hobbit sets and Lotr sets. By the way, the Hobbit movies will now be 3 instead of 2... so your five films are now six total. ( I presume nobody informed you 2 months ago)

 Quote of the week! Yeah, obviously all of us AFOLS salivate over UCS architectural sets (Rivendell? Black Gate of Mordor? Barad-Dur? Minas Tirith? Isengard oh man... ) based on LOTR locations; it's Lego that needs to be convinced of its profitability. Anyway, I think Friends has passed its first test. I don't own any for myself but my 8 year old niece LOVES them and I bought 2 more sets for her birthday. She has sent me pics of her toys after she was done building them! They are miles ahead of Belville and Paradisa (those lines weren't much in the way of actual building). I've seen the upcoming Barbie Megabloks sets and they are crap, just as bad as Belville was if not worse. I've seen only 4 colors in total: Dark Pink, medium pink, light pink, and turquoise.

The rear wheels, they look like this part, right?

Review: 10193 Medieval Market Village

I just opened mine and started building. Is the black bird really a turkey? -
Love it Is the red uruk-hai supposed ot be Lurtz, or the nameless leader at the battle of helm's deep? Personally I'd have gotten rid of Boromir and put Gimli in his place Ents as towers is perfect.
