If this is actually true, then I'm in for at least two maybe three. Very well thought out character, despite not being universally recognized. I guess this might be the last big EU Lego item for awhile...

REVIEW: 71005 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Simpsons Series
HawkLord replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Another solid review with great pics! Thank you for posting that. Overall, while I wish they had left out the Simpsons family for other characters seeing them all together does make for a pretty complete set. This will be another series where I will be in for all the figures, even with the higher cost. Speaking of which, I feel a lot more confident in the new price point given everything that the figures offer in terms of new molds and unique pieces - mostly the heads. I really hope this isn't the last we see of the Simpsons, but if it is we at least have a pretty solid group.- 118 replies

Pretty cool how it defines a couples aspects of my youth - Mario 3 and Legos. I have a great fondness for Mario 3 and clocked more hours playing that then any other NES game. I even remember scouring the guidebook for tips and tricks to get everything in the game covered and of course, powering through the game every level, marathon style. I think this looks amazing. Very well done!

Are you crazy about Advent Calendars?
HawkLord replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have the three SW ones and as a SW collector I mostly bought them to have some cool little ships, some unique minifigures (like the Santa versions), and a couple army-builder types. The price is definitely not so great, but I can see there's a bit more packaging involved than a normal box set, with all the little compartment boxes and whatnot. -

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
HawkLord replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Are any of the sets store exclusive? Like only at Target or TRU, etc.? I'm trying to help narrow down my search, as these are really drying up in the area.- 2,626 replies

I'd also take a tag if it's not too much trouble and you have the time.

Looks good and I'm sure it's vast improvement over the original... but it's just not for me. It's something that seems to need some interaction to get the full benefit and honestly I just don't have the time to interact with some sets. Four of the seven figures are Jawas and nearly identical - I just can't get excited for that.

Ended up finding a side aisle wing of these the other day - they were placed on the pegs with the Minecraft blind bags that were listed at $5.99. I guess people thought that applied to the CMFs. Found Abe, the Mermaid, a couple Cops, a couple Emmets, Presidents, and the Cat Lady. Overall nice to see them, but this was obviously a rare occurrence.

@ B-Lister - See I'm not so sure. The Cuusoo stuff tends to sell very well and then disappear. Plus, with the Ghostbusters set coming out later this year, I don't see both sets being out together.
-
@ Cammo - buy the Delorean and maybe some of the DC wave. Once the Delorean is gone, it's gone, but Batman will always be around.

Look at Hasbro's Kreo line. It's relatively failed so much so that it is now going to be a TRU exclusive line only, despite having big licenses like Transformers and Star Trek. Hasbro could not keep it going strong enough at other retailers who had limited space compared to TRU, like Target and Walmart. Overall, the Kreo product isn't that bad, but lack of creativity and innovation hurts it. The Transformers line had fewer appealing Kreons, which were the major selling point as most of the set pieces were boring. The Star Trek line had great vehicles, but Hasbro really milked the market when it came to character selection forcing people to buy all the sets to get a complete crew. Now, my experience with Mega Bloks is limited, I have only bought a couple of WoW items and have never really been impressed with them - to me they're more a side novelty when there's nothing out for Lego that I'm interested in. I've been interested in the Halo stuff, but never bothered. Sure, Mattel is a big deal company and has vast resources, but Lego has the lock on huge licenses like Star Wars, Marvel, and DC (even though Mattel has the lock on DC action figures, I don't think DC is going to move from Lego especially given components like the DC characters in the Lego Movie). If anything, it will take a lot of time for Mattel to catch up to Lego's history, so even if Mattel started making waves tomorrow, those waves wouldn't really be felt for years to come. By then Lego could be on their fourth or fifth movie and be riding high on the new Star Wars movies and every Marvel character in the book. Closing comment - there's nothing to worry about as far as threats to Lego.

Review: The Lego Movie 30282 Super Secret Police Enforcer
HawkLord replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I picked up six of these during TRUs buy-one-get-one-half-off sale a couple weeks back. Definitely a cool army builder. Great review - agree the set should have come with a couple clear pieces to add the hover effect. -
Polybag Availability Thread
HawkLord replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I mentioned this in the main Lego Movie thread, but I've found the Super Secret Police Enforcer polybag at two TRUs in the past week. One sold out fairly quick, while the other still had a few left. Still haven't found the Batman Tumbler at Target, but I have seen the Fast Car there. -
I finished out the Electroids tribe and the combo build was alittle disappointing - I was hoping it would use more of the pieces. The remaining material I had could almost build one (maybe small-ish) Mixel. I'll probably round out the Infernites tribe and then call it good. The Cragsters just don't look unique enough for me to bother. Really looking forward to the later series, though.

I'm not even a DC guy really, but the Martian Manhunter looks really cool. The printing is very crisp and detailed, plus I don't know when I'd see him again or if he'd ever appear in a set down the road. Hopefully, not a keychain like the Hulk figure...

I think the Mixels are mostly about favorite color, since the builds are so small it's not like there's anything super amazing about each one. I would choose Electroids (yellow) because I like the combo build best - the arms are alittle stumpy, but it's full of character. Then the Infernites. I don't like the look of the Cragsters at all.

I'd go Lego Simpson house. The Lego Simpson stuff will have a lot of unique minifigure parts and the house itself is just gorgeous and a fun build - except all the flat tiles...

I think the TBD topic is relevant because it coincides with just how new this territory/arena/market seems to be for some companies despite the success of LOTR. When an action figure company like TBD can't follow in the easy to follow in footsteps of the old ToyBiz line, then something's amiss. TBD really dropped the ball from the first wave and are now even making the entire line a TRU exclusive... I think that in this arena it would be helpful to Lego to have a ton of other Hobbit merchandise to drum up overall interest.

The hands feel ever so slightly loose on mine. Just a tad better than CMF quality, but not as good as regular set quality. Who knows how long Lego has had these lined up, so maybe the figures have been holding weapons for some time now. Otherwise, everything else is perfect - the printing is really good. One of the knights has double-sided face printing, while three of the Dragons have double-sided face printing.
-
I think The Hobbit merchandise across the board is just failing and it's creating a domino effect. The Bridge Direct's action figure line has tanked because of poor figure choices, Weta's statue line is overpriced and is warming shelves in warehouses at online stores, and generally there is nothing else of note other than Lego. The merchandise for The Hobbit is a hard sell given the extensive character range and mis-management of dividing the movies from two to three. Had they been three all along who knows how different the spectrum would look right now. Back to the main topic, only TRU really has these in stock at mark-up. Target, Walmart, and Fred Meyers have limited stock at best.

Given that the new shooters are not spring loaded, but rather work by forcing the stud out, I would assume these could be stored loaded without any worry. Or at least no more worry than storing bricks that are attached anyway.
