  1. I am a big HP fan and I would probably pass on that. Still kicking myself for not getting it when it first came out, but that's a pretty big mark-up.
  2. I collect Star Wars, LOTR/Hobbit, super heroes, and random stuff (like BTTF, Ecto-1, and some lego movie stuff) and I can say this has probably been my most expensive year since I first got back into Lego in 2009. The reason being the quantity of "good" sets, either sets I've always wanted or sets that are just really useful. Star Wars has seen some upgraded sets that I've needed and the LOTR/Hobbit and super heroes lines are virtually all brand new material. The best part is that I only see all of this getting better. Like it or hate it, the Lego movie put the Lego brand on alot of radars in a huge way and was a strong shot in the arm for Lego financially. It's a themed line with recognizable IP that Lego doesn't have to pay licensing on. It's a total win. That I feel as though the Lego fan base will feel the effects of as time goes by because Lego will continue to do more to step up their game. In any case - rich or poor, this is a great time to be a Lego collector as more product is being made, some of which may not have been possible before.
  3. A McQuarrie sub-line, kinda like the Hasbro series a few years back, would be incredible in Lego form. Maybe even a Luke/Vader confrontation from the McQuarrie artwork would be perfect.
  4. I would also add in the Monster Fighters line if you can still find it. The zombie heads are quite good, as are the wolfman and sea creature.
  5. I keep considering the modulars, but to use in a large Super Hero battle display. I'm thinking most of the buildings would be designed to be wrecked and/or broken down to show where damage had taken place. Essentially, what I'm saying is I would probably use them for more flashy display. The problem for me is cost. It would be cool to have such a display, but how long would I want that on my display area? When would I get bored with it? Is there anything else I could use it for (because by themselves they're kinda boring, IMO). Those weigh heavily on my consideration for such an endeavor...
  6. I guess with the Star Wars sets in August I'll be getting a couple mini-mini coopers. No sense in waiting till later in the month for the chima figure though... At least this means I can save more $$$ for October. :P
  7. A vintage spaceman and bot? In a box? I'm in if the buy-in isn't too high. Wonder what else comes with it, aside from the fold out pamphlet...
  8. If this were in a set, I might go for it, but for now I might just make due with my Death Star palpatine.
  9. Given how good the recent Boba Fett is, I'd bet that Lego adds in another bounty hunter to help sell the set. Or maybe a carbonite Han as a solid brick.
  10. Was able to get two this past weekend, which was a welcome change from the BTTF set which had a limit of one when it first came out. Overall, this is easily "set of the year" for me. I normally don't care too much about car builds, but this one puts together nicely. I especially like the front grill section and display stand. This set feels very "complete" to me even without slimer.
  11. I would say any Ghost Rider material that has to do with hell or the devil... Mephisto comes to mind. I really think Punisher would generally be off limits because of the context.
  12. Did Lego get a deal on brown dye this year...? Seriously, though, I'm not all that thrilled. I've got gobs of Battle Droids... but nothing for them to battle in an army sense from Episode 1. This set might have worked better with more Naboo Guards or maybe even Gungans. Instead it just has two Jedi I already own. I hate to be a drag, but I'm just not into this one... I will give Lego some credit for churning out another prequel set.
  13. Very well done! The beard looks really good for being so few parts.
  14. The ship has amazing detail and looks nearly realistic in terms of size and shape - like the crew could actually exist there. The major selling point to me (and I apologize that it is not related to the ship) is the incredible water detail. The shades of blue work perfect and the waves are some of the best I've seen. Very well done.
  15. ^^^ Agreed. If I didn't already have a ton of black bricks for fantasy castle builds I would have grabbed another Black Gate. The ship I passed on before and probably will continue to do so for the same kind of reasons listed above.
  16. Great review! Thank you for sharing such a thorough coverage of such a fantastic set. I don't like to use this word alot, but this quite literally a perfect set. I'm in for two if I can get them. The figures look solid, the build looks good, I have zero complaints. Hopefully Lego will see what a blockbuster set this is and will be.
  17. Found some LOTR sets on sale at Fred Meyers last Saturday - Pirate Ship at $69 and Black Gate at $41.
  18. I can also confirm Mixel Series 2 is at Fred Meyers.
  19. Found the X-Men set at Fred Meyers - they had probably ten copies.
  20. Love the reindeer! This might be my first winter themed purchase. Pretty much captures Christmas perfectly!
  21. The sales were disappointing and this was the first year where the store did not let me get two of the exclusive figure with two separate purchases. I was pretty shocked. Usually I can get two of any exclusive with two separate purchases, supervisor told me that Revan was more limited than usual and they were being very strict. Funny thing is, I went home and made a purchase at the online store with my VIP info and am expecting my second Revan to be delivered on Friday. I'm not trying to be a jerk or flip the second Revan, I just like having extras. I just thought it was funny to put such a stop on this one since he's not even a very recognizable character by Star Wars standards and there isn't any other time-in merchandise to push him...
  22. I think the balloon cart is pretty cool for a bonus - nice pieces and two minifigures. Plus, I'll be in for at least two Ecto-1's, so this makes a nice perk. As others have mentioned, I'm surprised there was nothing on the GotG sets... maybe next month?
  23. Two local Fred Meyers stores had 5-6 boxes of these. They seemed to hit pretty hard, I was worried they would be limited for some reason, but they seem to be about as well stocked as previous minifigure series... for now.
  24. Man, I might be in for all of those... even the lackluster dropship. Seeing angry Unikitty reminded me of how funny that scene was and expected.
  25. I was thrilled to find out the Revan polybag was true. Great character choice and near perfect execution. I'll be in for two at least.
