LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fairytale princess's always remind me of Playmobil because they're very good at this. The "princess's" TLG have made in Castle lines are mostly damsels-in-distress with generic hairpices (from Hermione and Emma). I suppose that TLG would reuse Calamity's one this time. And she might have a new cape and magical stick. And we should remember that TLG already made their generic fairytale princess's --- in Belville. Unfortunately TLG never planned to add such kind of princess scenarios in Castle lines (meanwhile, Disney Princess line is a seperate license so it's not in the discussion.) I'd really like to see Princess Vanilla make an official return as a CMF. During the TLM theatrical time, it's been discussed and no obvious character had appeared in this film. Yes, maybe one of the western guys was the Prospector, but the result could be that his/her design is not eye-catching enough.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Under a circus theme, I'd like to see a female trapeze similar with the Duplo version. Male kabukis would also be interesting. That sounds nice. I'm wishing for a female dwarf, though the chance is pretty small. It's the third female warrior coming so wish that she's unique enough.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Good points.Back to my statement, I'd like to see a female "entertainer" following previous clowns that are all probably male, and I wasn't referring to this jester. Accuracy is okay but creativity is also important. We just got a rumor list and it doesn't necessarily come true. And as mentioned in Toy Fair, it's planned to be released in fall.I don't think regular sets and CMF series would affect each other. The current problem is whether anything else would come before series 12.- 1,109 replies

Well sorry I didn't notice "hat". Wish that we'll see a new color for the hat. Uh, I was just replying to a question from others. And since new facial prints are also the stars of CMF series, I don't really think customization is the answer to asking for female minifigures.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I thought there have been many wizards in dark red, such as Mallock. Yes, that's why I said that a swordman isn't fresh anymore for this theme. If it won't be a lady, just hope that the design is creative enough. Judging from experience, if the list is true and the names are correct, I'm afraid it wouldn't be a female jester. But it's true that we haven't got a female entertainer from this theme (Sad Clown, Circus Clown are basically not identifiable women). Also a female musketeer wouldn't be a bad thing. Exactly what I thought. Four ladies are confirmed in this list, better than that Simpsons series . Dino Tracker and Swashbuckler have better chances to be female. If there are actually two miners in this series, it's nice to see them in opposite genders. There have been both female and male music-related characters under this theme, so it doesn't matter which gender would be the next one. I guess "Rock Star" is more likely to be a guy.- 1,109 replies

Thanx for the great review! A very thoughtful movie product from fans, full of the CUUSOO spirits. Offtopic, the new IDEAS label doesn't look very obvious to me. The previous color of CUUSOO worked better.

It's offtopic, but I'd rather see that happen. Not just throwing a random mold and claiming to be a specific character. In this case I don't how how much prints could work. For example, Sven gets a complicated color texture with a cartoonic expression, while the generic reindeers are totally painted brown with a stereotypical face.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Okay, I mean to expect that TLC can clearly tell us when both regular series and special series return. I see that you want a sorceress without that typical pointy-hat. Magical varieties are nice for Castle themes, and there could be more designs outside the box. Maybe a cartoonic magical girl, a shaman or a sea witch.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fine or not, it's more about periodical schedules in order to ensure both the return of regular and special series for us . As the series going on we don't really have to worry about gender counterparts. Rehashing is more like the true worrisome. I guess Witch was already like the counterpart to Wizard, unless you hope to see a sorceress with a very different identity (maybe the Witch is kindheart, the Sorceress is evil). Thanx, I confused it with Xiongnu.- 1,109 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I guess I'm honest enough to say that I have mixed feelings about this rumor list, and I won't say this is a perfect combination of a series even though we've been waiting for a long time. > Pizza Delivery Man Well, the highlight might be new uniform and pizza prints. No new parts I guess. > Fairytale Princess The only difference is how TLG highlight the idea of "fairytale" in order to diifferentiate from normal Castle princess's. It's a shame for TLG that there have been many Belville figures and Disney miniolls featuring fairytale heroines, and they should have made this kind of characters in regular minifigure sets, not in CMF now. > Swashbuckler We don't lack sword users, but Swashbuckler the word often describe ladies, so it might be a welcome female power addition to Castle or Pirates. > Wizard, Jester, Lifeguard Sound like another rehashing nightmare after the Pirate Captain. Just hope that TLG will give us a new design. > Dino Tracker A redemption for Jurassic? Hope that a Dino baby is coming along. > Spooky Girl Sounds like a counterpart to Hippie? Hope that this would be a good addition to City. > Rock Star I know FOLs would say that the more band members the better. My expectation is to see an unused hairstyle from Rock Band and a new type of instruments like Keytar. > Video Game Guy Really depends on phisycal designs. It has a very big chance to be another Skydiver.- 1,109 replies

Passed by toy stores today and found animal series 5 on sale. I picked Java and Biscuit.

Uh.... the reasons you gave just proved that it does have a chance to be made in the future, did't they? Reindeers could appear in these conditions: 1) a snowland-themed story becomes a LEGO license, (eg, Narnia, Frozen). 2) a winter subtheme of Friends or new extension of City Arctic needs reindeers. i'd say elephants are definitely musthaves for massive consumers, but it's more like TLG is not sure when this kind of animals are needed.. Making it simple, the major concern is that Creator was destinied to give more building experience, which includes animals. This theme isn't made to hit the market so it just stays as D2C sets. Therefore, TLC wouldn't manage to increase its design costs in order to introduce parts and molds. But still it's not illegal to wish for a LEGO reindeer mold. Let's hope that molded reindeers could come in other winter sets this year!

Simpsons Lego Episode to air this Sunday on Fox Network
Dorayaki replied to 5150 Lego's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It is a pity that the plot writers just use the novel series as a pun to tease those particular female fans and audience, which isn't related to TLG at all. Generally licensed themes weren't considered and referred in this episode. Suppose that Lisa was actually reading Hobbit and went to its movie, she'd be very happy to see some LEGO Hobbit exhibitations, which is also a double win. -
I assume that this should be posted here. This week LEGO Ideas features a LOTR project in the homepage. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/45646 Usually fan projects that use ongoing licensed themes are not allowed (or not suggested, at least) since they could make profit conflicts with the later products. Does this move mean that the staff is very sure about that this scene wouldn't be used in the next wave of LOTR sets, or actually the next wave wouldn't "even" appear? Hope that it's just my overthinking.

It's the first set to be outside the typical box of Winter Village, but still a very decent addition. For many reasons(?) it would sell much better than Winter Market. I agree that the building could have been better. The other concern is that this is oviously smaller than previous Winter sets, would it get a lower price too? Buildable deers are alittle debatable. TLG is willnig to make a new husky sleigh for City but no reindeer sleigh for this set? Oh, however since it would be regarded as a Creator set, I can understand why TLG tend to use building rather than maknig molds. Meanwhile, ironically Friends already introduced a fawn figure, the picky FOLs might have to buy four polybags and then MOC it . Mrs. Claus is the obvious star of this set, but I might wish that TLG make her a CMF with more detailed designs. It's nice to see more older ladies get spotlights in LEGO universe. I thought about it too, but we know that Winter Toy shop is the well-regarded starting point of this series. It'd be very delightful to get Winter Train Station and then put it together with the Holiday Train!

Pretty true, unfortunately. Disney mascots, earlier animated films and the recent Disney Junior shows are all considered to be targeted at younger kids that don't play minifigures. Hook's ship and Pooh's treehouse are both really great picks for AFOLs. Just hope LEGO Ideas can have more projects to do with this. Minidolls' major problem is their visual conflicts with minifigures, from both licensed and nonlicensed themes. Your saying may apply to any other female LEGO characters who need a more shaped body (eg, Black Widow), but it's not why TLG introduced minidolls after all. I do agree Duplo figures are the least lifelike ones among all LEGO figures.

I believe that Disney Princess is a concept that doesn't fit in LEGO licenses. Mattel dolls, for instance, simply have one character doll in a package. This kind of toy has fewer things to do with storytelling or violence, and put more focus on individual characters. On the other hand, LEGO licenses focus on interactions between different kinds of characters(minifigs) and use these to compose scenarios. If TLG only want to make protagonist minifigures, the only better excuse for this is a crossover like Sofia the First, which I'm willing to see happen. However some subcharacters of Sofia itself might still be necessary. I don't refuse to see sets based on "happily ever after" scenarios, they're still the important part of princess's stories. However, as mentioned, Rapunzel's Tower has obscure conflicts with the lack of necessary villain (and actually it's not an "ever after" scenario). If there are good amount of sets, some of them can be based on iconic combats and the rest are romantic scenes, which is okay to me.

Well... "a sequel that Finn doesn't involve with" equals to "a story that is not doing with TLM1", because other people don't even know Emmet's presense. Yes, the plot writers may come up with a new group of main characters to replace the previous ones, though not knowing how it works. If the sequel has to continue the same headcanon but in a different perspective, at least Finn has to tell the story to others and continue it together. Some people like to see Finn's "dark age", so it could also be that Finn's sister growes up, takes over all his assets and continues his story. And then she tries to revive her brother's passion for LEGO. Depends on what you mean, you want to see action figures, or their minifigure miniatures? It's hard to say, maybe Spongebob would return to LEGO during the long production period, but I'm not confident with this. I forgot the original script had this this idea. But I guess simply having a Duplo figure wouldn't work better than having Uni-kitty or other Fabuland figures, which all represent cuteness among the characters. Yes, I made one of them, but we're not talking about my own ideal dream and unofficial roster of Master Builders. Tina is the only heroine from 4-plus figures, but I doubt TLM would consider to include her.
-
That's pretty true. I wasn't very convinced mostly because some themes happend to be both not mentioned by Wyldstyle and actually absent from the whole film. So as said just hope the next plot can share more lights with unused themes.

Thanx for reminding, but it's kinda like Indiana Jones or Star Wars case. Michelangelo did show up in the movie, so maybe April has a chance. However for unknown reason TLG seems to lose their interests in Avatar and Spongebob. I doubt Katara and Sandy would appear next time unless the themes suddenly revive before TLM2. Honestly I don't want to see more Superheo(ine)s invlove since this theme was much highlited in TLM1, unless a non-superhero character from DC universe takes the change (eg, Lois Lane). And if Batman woudln't leave the main cast, I doubt other DC female characters will have more highlights. Duplo is a very different case. It is regarded as a prototype of LEGO for underage kids, but it doesn't represent another theme with different characters or story ideas. You may imagine a Duplo thief guy or firefighter is litereally their counterparts to LEGO City minifigures. Though TLM1 did hinted Duplo's existence, there is no character (not to say heroines) to introduce unless TLM2 intend to create an original Duplo character. The figure issue has been discussed many times, but remember the very major premise is still that excluding several themes would fail to complete the crossover idea. I believe that TLM is able to incorporate these unused themes if they want to. Well maybe she is more interested in male characters, especially handsome ones. I agree with Blakstone, thought a sister doesn't guarantee more female characters, she may help to provide more perspectives for TLM's story idea.. 4 Juniors figures are actually something like Duplo figures (being counterparts to their roles from LEGO City or action themes minifigures). I think TLC can easily make Jack Stone as a minifigure.

Avatar seems to be a more obvious problem than Spongebob. TMNT is a 3rd party property so maybe it doesn't count? Well according to assumptions, that sister is an underage and might never play any System brick. And the main problem of TLM1 is that "the worlds we don't talk about" made the movie content an incomplete "crossover", which is not doing with the sequel. Generally we didn't see too many retro Western characters when the protagonists arrive that Western town. Emmet and Wyldstyle only came to met one person (maybe the rest had escaped to Cuckoo Palace). The other problem was, TLM1 was showing that CMFs all have negative attitude against Emmet so CMFs' power can only leave to TLM2. That's the point. What if the companies want to make this idea exclusive and they haven't prepared to make it in LEGO world? This could be the main reason why only one could show up in TLM1.

Should "The Lego Movie" have it's own Theme?
Dorayaki replied to Herky's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I haven't got this. Do you mean this theme should continue without new movie/animation content? I personally don't think it works too much. Remember it is a crossover, that means a combination of most existed themes. Even though compared with Clutch Powers, it does has some original ideas and subthemes (eg, Cuckoo World), those aren't too many and more regular sets can be done with it. Star Wars is the typical and successful example that how popularity and commercial works continue without another new movie in theater during these years. I think TLM is telling a story, but doesn't have a completely independent universe to begin a theme without stories yet. -
Did you remember that TLM1 excluded Marvel and Disney universe? Holley Shiftwell, Cinderella or Elizabeth may not be suitable options here for now. SW only showed one scene in TLM1 so no knowing if TLM2 can go furthur. And I suppose that Nickelodeon is done with TLC (no Katara and Sandy). These leave very few choices left for licensed heroines. The main problems are that there isn't too much room for a theme to have more than two representives (DC seems to be given lots of favor this time), and very few original LEGO theme feature a leading female protagonist. Professor Sam might be one of the exception from action themes.
-
Well it's done good but not near perfect to me, because there is still room for the sequel to tell story: These don't ensure a success of sequel, it still depends on scriptwriting skills. But IMO the first movie wasn't able to tell the whole thing, and a sequel do help TLM accomplish what it couldn't achieve.

Now the Simpsons Birck Like Me has been on air. Though the TV version designs are not similar with real ones, it does give us choices. I really want to see Moe and twin aunts....
