Let's cut to the chase: Arthropod Dinosaur Galidor Slizer Exo Force Knights. Which, now that I think about it, would pretty much just be LEGO Telefang.
-
Yeah. And people have been clamoring for feather add-on pieces for a while, so that would be a nice opportunity to introduce them.

I like that idea, but I'd prefer if they wouldn't just limit themselves to insects, but make arthropods in general. They could set it up as follows: Winter: one small insect set and one small crustacean, plus one medium-sized insect and a large crustacean, or vice-versa. Winter: one small insect or crustacean, plus one medium-sized insect or crustacean (the one that wasn't the large set in the winter) plus a large extinct arthropod or panarthropod. So, for example, we could get a $10 fly, a $15 copepod, a $20 butterfly and a $30 mantis shrimp in the winter and a $10 tick, a $20 wasp and a $30 Anomalacaris in the summer. It could also be nice to see a scifi line where the arbitrarily earth animal-like protagonists are based on arthropods.

Personally, I'm all for some sort of CCBS non-humanoid-based line, maybe some sort of alien society. Essentially, what you'd get if you removed the humans and humans with cosmetic surgery from the star wars universe. Either that, or something built in a similar manner to Mixels, but with larger builds as well. Perhaps with some sort of ball on top of a plate piece to allow for the figures to connect to playsets. Also, Slizers slizers slizers.

Review: 41180: Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle
DraikNova replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is the one Elves set I want to get. It's got precisely the right flavor of cutesy evilness to hit my buttons and a beautiful color scheme. Not sure what to do with the minidolls. Ragana could work as some form of slime creature or other monster, considering the stretched-out and smooth appearance relative to normal minifigures, but what to do with Aira and Naida? -
Metal just seems like it'd be the necromancer concept detailed somewhere else in the forum. Earth could then be golem-like monsters. Stuff like this or this.

Yeah, it's rather difficult to try and make a realistic spider face and not make it look huggable to some extent. Any suggestions?

[MAZE] Cat A - Escape from the Jungle Temple
DraikNova replied to kritch's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Bravo! This doesn't seem like an entry as much as a piece of craftsmanship. -
As you escape from the dragon's onslaught, you find a mysterious device in the hills. It responds to your commands by moving around with gusto. With it, you hope to defeat the scourge that raised your village. However, to fight this fiend, you must trek across the lands, and the lands are filled with monsters. Monsters: A hydra in the swamp A nuckelavee in the waters. For those who don't know, a nuckelavee is a water spirit in the shape of a horse with a rider that spends most of its time as an intangible presence in the water. A manticore waiting for the right time to strike along the path A swooping cockatrice attacking from the skies A salamander in its slimey den A sphinx guarding the bridge A dragon surrounded by the burning forest Special features include an alternate path with special point spots, monster body parts that can be moved to block off paths (the hydra heads, the nuckelavee's horse head, the manticore's tail and the cockatrice's wings) and a swiping dragon's paw which can knock the ball right into one of the lava pits. Top view. The green spot is the starting point, the dragon's maw is the end and the yellow spots are optional bonus points. Yes, I checked, the dragon's wings fit in the maze. From this view, you can see the difficulties involved in choosing the bonus point route a bit better; amongst other things, you have to get out of the ditch formed by the salamander. I made various digital stickers for this project; the cockatrice's, the manticore, the nuckelavee and the sphinx's heads and the brick path. All in all, it was a lot of fun making this, and I hope you guys like it! Comments and criticism appreciated.

I really hope they actually make the flyspear. Tr. clear with glitter would be my guess for how they'd pull that off. And bonus points if they include the fishbowl globlins and/or the scurrier variants in battle packs or other efficient ways to get them. And I never realized this, but the water monsters already have an equivalent for the big golems with mace hands.

Yeah, the whole "Bionicle will not be shipped to stores where they didn't sell well" thing makes it sound reasonably likely that 2017 will be the last year for Bionicle. I'm going to be overly optimistic and state in advance that I'll be laughing my megablocks off if Hero Factory returns. That falcon is a very nice mini build, incidentally.

Personally, I'm hoping for the opposite situation, where Jestro responds to an attempted betrayal by the book of monsters by out-eviling it, partially because it would mean we wouldn't just get another boring heel-face turn, partially because it'd be amusing and kind of nice to see Jestro succeed at what he's good at.

Ahh, the magnificent Lord of Skull Spiders. Many thought he was a rather weak set, sacrificing playability and some aesthetic appeal for fairly boring function. Recently, I've been playing around with system-based action figures, and, after seeing all these skull army creations pop up again, I decided to make my own version of him. I decided to make him more spiderlike, with the face of a jumping spider, the horns of a jewelled spider and of course, all eight legs, two spinnerets and two pedipalps. I made the pedipalps the smaller, female morph because I figured that, if they're too small to even be depicted in the actual set, they shouldn't actually be bulky in my MOC. Features string-shooting stud blaster spinnerets, 41 points of articulation and a stand which is supposed to hold the golden mask of skull spiders, although LDD lacks it. As far as I can tell, he's fully buildable. A better look at the stud shooter spinnerets and back. Ventral view of the big spider and his shiny. Comments and criticism appreciated!

Pretty sure that's what the weird circular worm maw is.

RX = Reboot Xtreme?
-
Why wouldn't they? Scurriers are just another minifig variant, and outside of licensed themes, minifigs get put up on BaP. Meanwhile, globlins are just printed balljoints.
-
Personally, I'm planning to remedy the small size of my army by ordering 50 or so globlins and maybe 4-8 scurriers of the various prints off of Bricks and Pieces when that works again.

Nexo Knight Villain The Mechromancer
DraikNova replied to Takanuinuva's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Personally, I'd call her (him?) the Mechamancer. It sounds slightly less awkward, at the cost of the necromancer name connection. Anyway, here's a minion for her, filling a zombie-esque niche. Remnants of battles fought by ancient kingdoms, these nigh-unstoppable machines were recovered from the marshes by the powerful Mechamancer. Remarkably fast and giving off shocks as it twitches randomly, they are highly dangerous to face in direct combat. -
Ironically, I'm probably the only one here who finds it underwhelming, despite loving every other set in the line. It's just so gappy and unpolished. Also, you know, it should be black. Probably still going to get it for parts and Whiparella, although the lack of a Spider Globlin dissapoints me. I'm probably going to use the parts from it to make a cockatrice for Robin, to continue my mecha-dragon project while keeping his chicken motif. And more silver swords means I can make it a mecha Yi Qi as well.

Nice that Terak looks a bit like a bat. Very nice work. Akida also looks a lot like one illustration of mutated Takea sharks that I saw. And Ketar has the right number of legs, which is nice. Melum's mane sticks up slightly too far from the rest of his head, though, and his hump is slightly too far down on his back, which makes him look like an awkward tortoise. I'm also rather confused as to why you made Uxar a bird.

Which HF Invasion from Below sets to get?
DraikNova replied to JekPorkchops's topic in LEGO Action Figures
All of them. Especially Splitter Beast and the Queen Beast set. Evo's Walker is actually one of the sets I've had the most fun with, since it's perfect as a parts pack yet is limited enough to make building with it a challenge. I spent four hours just making alternate models for it when I first got it. Combat Machine is reasonably good as a parts pack and very imposing, but it's slightly lackluster when it comes to the little jet thing. Rocka's Crawler is the only one that isn't particularly good, but it's still better than this year's bionicle sets. -
Yeah, maybe they could make an outer cover made of wedge pieces and have a hero factory fist piece on a balljoint concealed under it. I'm more concerned about the sword-splitting.
-
Judging by the show, he's pretty much Nexo-Trump, so bravo on the self-parody.
-
Here's the closest I've been able to get to an accurate Spider Globlin: As you can see, it's pretty big, and I highly doubt they'd be able to make it much smaller while keeping it recognizable.

Yeah, I'd love an ultimate version of Ava, both because it'd mean tr. purple pieces, but also because it'd almost definitely have a new mold for her iconic tablet.
