  1. Greater magical resistance, fireproof bark/hyphae and greater strength, presumably. Turns out I was wrong about that. He just says that if you think the other monsters (lava + sea) were tough, these are worse.(on Mushlord's page).
  2. If I recall correctly, they say the forest monsters are so powerful even the lava and water monsters fear them.
  3. I'm pretty sure the book of monsters (the actual buyable book, not the in-story one) implies at one point that the forest monsters come after the sea monsters, so I'm guessing next year is sea monsters, 2018 is forest.
  4. Saw it. Surprisingly good. The trailers are honestly just a pile of megablocks that make the movie seem completely different from what it actually is. And that 2d animation moment was really great. I'd definitely recommend it. Plus, Venkman in the original was really just a creepy jerk, so I'm glad this one doesn't suffer from that.
  5. Huh, too bad. Oh well. Where did you find out about that?
  6. So, there's apparently a "Design your own Nexo power" contest in the Netherlands, which states that you have to go to lego.nl/nexoknights and do the missions there. However, I haven't been able to find the missions. Any ideas where I should look? Page from the booklet
  7. As always, lovely work. Layering the translucent claw pieces gives a beautiful effect. I know this was just a typo, but it made me think of this.
  8. Probably there's some legal problems preventing LEGO from suing them. For example, whenever LEGO is copied in China, the lax government makes it nigh impossible for LEGO to sue them. Also, here are the real life pictures of my Ultimate Axl mod:
  9. Yeah, someone mentioned dino riders nexo knights, so I just decided to share my own thoughts on what they should do if they went that direction. Personally, I hope that if they make animal-themed builds, they focus more on medieval mythical creatures. Dragons, griffins, maybe manticores, bestiary sort of stuff.
  10. Heh, thanks. Anyway, I'm also hoping we get some of the farm variant squirebots at some point. Tying this into the dinosaur concept, scythes are associated with farming, so...Therizinosaurus squirebot mecha?
  11. It went through a few revisions after applying it in real life. What you'll need: 2 black balljoint pieces, 2 black 4-length axles, 4 yellow 2x2 round tiles with axle holes in them, the keetongorange 2x2 plate that comes with the set's version of the arms, 2 black hero factory hands, 2 dark grey CCBS lower limb bones and 2 silver 5m CCBS shells, 2 dark bluish grey 2x2 bricks with ball sockets and whatever you want to use on the back of the assembly (must fit a 2x4 space). Just snap the result on and voila. A simple fix, but it looks a lot less spindly than the original, and it's almost show-accurate too. I was originally going to use 3 yellow plates for each of the spring-like lower arms, but it looked somewhat overcrowded (and extending the arms would have made it ridiculously large), and I only had 4 in real life anyway.
  12. So, I recently got Clay's Rumble Blade, and it's every bit as good as I thought. I accidentally applied the headlight stickers on the little cars upside-down, but they're relatively even, which is all that matters. I also got Ultimate Axl, but his little backpack arms are kind of ridiculous looking, and don't resemble the ones from the show. I've come up with a fix for it in LDD. Would anyone be interested in seeing it?
  13. Gorgeous, especially the use of Ben 10 spikes on Quake Beast to match the torso print. I've got just two pieces of advice: 1: maybe add some more normal, non-translucent purple to Quake Beast (I would suggest putting 4m shells at the heels) to make the head stand out less? 2: If you put the beast feet so that the surface they stand with is on the outside of the arm, Storm Beast's arms will have a much more natural flow, although you'd have to find a new way to attach the thumbs.
  14. First off, the branching nature of evolution means that it'd be impossible to pinpoint a non-avian dinosaur ancestor of birds relatively precisely. Second of all, raptors are more closely related, to the point that birds are part of the raptor group. Personally, I'd like Robin to just get a stylized "tin can" style chicken mech. On a side note, birds as a group are an arbitrary, not officially defined group, so any group ranging from "modern birds" and "all animals more closely related to modern birds than to crocodiles" (pterosaurs + dinosaurs) can be considered "birds".
  15. Good points, although I really think the raptor would fit Clay best (due to his crest being a hawk, which a raptor is more like than a Tyrannosaurus would be). The Tyrannosaurus could be featured in an exclusive as a mount of the queen, perhaps? Maybe a Therizinosaur for Aaron? With huge bows mounted next to its claws? EDIT: Actually, while Lance wouldn't be able to ride it nor would it be a dinosaur, an azhdarchid's head is already more or less an oversized lance. Could work quite well.
  16. Yes, but preferably they'd use thematically appropriate dinosaurs. A raptor, an accurate one, would make sense for Clay, since they're basically big ground eagles, while a Tyrannosaurus, being big and bulky, makes sense for Macy. Robin could probably use an emu, an ankylosaur could work for Axl, and maybe a ceratosaur for Aaron?
  17. Personally, I think Ava will become a wizard/sourceress or something like that. Some sort of purple robes seem likely for whenever she gets her special uniform. Perhaps they'll decide to make it so that every three years they'll have a new main cast, with the kid appeal characters forming part of the next new team? That way LEGO could prevent theme exhaustion/make it easier for new fans to get into the theme without having to read up on past stories.
  18. Just found a version of the Book of Monsters that someone uploaded online. Things to note: Really great art of the Lava Monster vehicles, except Moltor's, which is excluded for no particular reason. Unintentional Book of Monsters/Aaron Foe Yay. Its sense of puns is worse than mine. A rather spectacular achievement, that.
  19. Well, Ava has purple, at least, and Axl has a more orangish shade of yellow anyway. Not sure whether to get the Chaos Chariot at a lower price than normal (25 euros compared to 35) or get it via the LEGO shop and get the promotions. Thoughts?
  20. I...don't get it. What's the joke? Also, I'm honestly wondering what 2016 Onua would look like if I used the two kinds of tr. purple spikes they've released to armor him up. I may have to LDD this...
  21. Organic? Sure, but making them human characters results in awkward uncanny valley issues. Aliens or creatures can be made with CCBS level abstraction while avoiding this problem.
  22. Two things: 1: The general discussion topic for the movie is here. 2: Making the reboot more like a crappy movie is generally a bad move.
  23. What a beautiful set. This is one of the few licensed sets I plan on getting anytime soon. I mean, it's got a great build, great parts and great figs. Especially that demon. Maybe it changes colors during the movie? On a side note, I can't understand how people can dislike a movie which features a giant sheet ghost as its main villain.
  24. Those just look like the Deepstone outfits with bad hair.
  25. Do you know something we don't, or is this just speculation?
