Thanks, guys! Glad you like the gator! Yes, that is a problem... but maybe that means the trader will be able to get on his good side? The real reason for the Duplo gator rather than a LEGO one is the CCCX cross-catagory "Best use of Duplo" award...

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
We seem to be lacking on free builds... Avalonia has several "on their way" (although since that has become standard perhaps it doesn't mean much!), Mitgardia is only 70 golds behind us! and has more coming... in fact, about five days are inbetween the last two comments here (granted there was some down time)! Really appreciate what you're doing with the Calender NM, I hope each build can earn up to 50 points... Anyway here is my latest. I have two more done, need to get the story written! Well... looks like we're all getting closer and closer in scores... but I think Mitgardia is only two close to usurping our place! Congrats to the Challenge V winners, you all did really great jobs! -
Glad to see another minifig size one! Nice falling ice! We really should complain to the Mitgardian Council; they need readable signage!

Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread

Who had the top gold, I wonder... Anyway this is bad! We need more distance! (Oh, I guess it's good too. Now we should be closer to Avalonia!) -
After having barely survived the desert, our poor trader changed his camel for a couple of servants to help him along back home. Of course he opted not to go back the same way... unfortuantly the townspeople suggested the "swamp route"... and why am I writing this in third person? This area was not always swamp, long ago it was rocky fortress, and so the inhabitants built themselves an outlook on top of the tallest stone outcropping. I thought it was a bit humorous myself... My goal with this (if I had an unlimited or almost unlimited collection) would have been a 48x48 swamp covered with 1x1 trans-green tiles (like Ecc's) and with several rocks... but obviously I didn't make it! C&C are welcome!

It looks... way too out of proportion. Guess it's just me...

Any chance you can tell us something about the cards? What are they for?
-
Hope someone reviews one of the speedorz soon. I'm dying to figure out what the cards do/look like!

Just start looking around at some other castles people have built, say on Flickr or Brickshelf, then you'll get a pretty good idea of what pieces you need (depending on the type of castle). I'd suggest you start building before you order anything since then you'll get an even better idea of what pieces you have. It might be a good idea just to start out with a very small castle (say 16x16 or less) so you don't get overwhelmed with how long it could take. If you don't want to wait for your order or you want to be sure exactly how to build it first so you don't spend more than you need too, you might be able to build it multicolor at first and then gradually substitute pieces. Plus, there's no need to waste grey pieces in places they won't be seen anyways. If you're building an interior that might make it tougher, but if you have a brick that's won't be visible from any angle (or from the display/angle at which you're going to photograph it, supposing you are going to photograph it!) use some color you're fairly certain you won't need anywhere else.

Iron Man 3 & Man of Steel (Guess I could be wrong. I'm just guessing, but I don't see what else would fit them. ) I'll assume you're talking about actual plants, but I think the bottom of the log thing is dark tan. I would say the female hair piece does looks silly in that setting, but I don't see why it couldn't be used in a (same time period) fashionalble city?

I think it's because Chima is not as much a hit (so far at least; we haven't seen the show yet and I guess that could change stuff) with the 12-25 age range where Ninjago was very successful. Faefrost made some good points; LEGO figures any 6-12 will be tired of it in three years. But what they weren't figureing on was Ninjago being so popular with older "kids" (and even someone who started to like it at 11/12 probably wouldn't grow out of it entirely). I can see Chima being just as popular if not more so with LEGO's target age group as Ninjago was, but older fans will probably find it a bit "cartoonish", silly (Animals fighting animals with "magical" ores of Chi on huge vehicles? really?), and in general geared even more towards kids than Ninjago was. It won't prevent them from buying one or two they're interested in, but if LEGO were to give Ninjago another chance (like it seems they're going to do) in most cases people would just spend more (because now you're talking the age group that has more money in general). As long as LEGO does a good job with the story line and doesn't ignore things like changing the characters in the introductions like they did last season (which really annoyed me), then they should be fine. I'm almost thinking that they're going to turn Ninjago into a theme that, at least partially, will be aimed at a higher age range than almost any action theme before.

You've got that many forest maidens already? Nice set-up, anyway. TLG seems to love giving Avalonia CMFs!

That's what I figured it meant, just double checking! Edit: Oh, and are multiple entries legal? If so, I might try to squeeze another one in there...

Just wondering... does the MOC need it's own thread or does what the past few people have done qualify?

Now I see what you guys were talking about when you said queen; I was just looking at Crominus. Completly ignored the other one. Still not too much a fan of the Crocs, but the boat looked a lot better in the Promo. Oh well - what with Ninjago, Hobbit, LotR, and the Lone Ranger, it's way out of my budget!
-
Ah, I see. Almost looked like they were taking it! The chamber looks even better now, and the use of a beard for the candle is great!
-
No, we haven't seen him yet, as far as I know. Probably my favorite so far of the lions judging by the video. I don't think so. Strikes me as Crominus. Looks like each tribe has a King, Commander, and then probably a few scounts and warriors. Interesting that it seems the commanders will have more importance in the show (and also in the sets) than the Kings (or Queens).

Quite nice! Recognized it instantly! Like the detail with the wood also!

Looks like that last one didn't work: Interesting that Raven's weren't even mentioned in the Trailer (at least that's what I'm assuming the first one was, more or less)... guess they'll come to light along with the gorrilas?
-
Thanks so much! Hope all goes well with the further mantinence!
-
Nice job, I like the transition from stone to wood, and the rock at the bottom is well done too! Like the way the wall curves as well, though like SK said the windows might look a bit better with more of a sill. Great build anyways!

Those sets look nice, in particular the coach, mine, and bank sets, but the calvary builder is neat too! The Mine is a bit of a strange combination with the light bley mixed in with the tan, but I can always use more of both! The coach is great; three horses in one set! And do I see "brick" bricks in tan on the second building in the Bank set? And more in light bley also...
