LEGO Legends of Chima Video Games Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Aanchir's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Is it just me or does the "free-to-play" LEGO Legends of Chima Online not sound like a MMO (and whatever happened to the G or am I thinking about the wrong abreviation?)? In general I know very little about such things; the only MMOG I ever played was the Free to play LEGO Universe, and the only Video Game the LEGO Pirates of the Carribean Demo... (except for a few hours at someone else's house) - I prefer spending my money and time with real bricks rather than virtual ones, but I can see the appeal. Anyway, what I was getting at is that it sounds more like a pretty extensive online game but with no interaction between "members", just with different charcters from Chima (computer based). Bassically just a bit more than previous games LEGO has had on their website. I could certainly be wrong; would anyone be willing to tell me what this is?- 130 replies

By the sounds of it, anything not shaped like a regular Minifig (but not brick-built, of course) goes! Anyway, does the entire animal have to be used (if not visible)? Eg. Could I just use a shark's head... or something like that?

It's often a good idea to start of with something catchy/actiony (coining words, I know!) at the beginning of a story to get the readers attention (always a top priority), but I don't think it's possible to jump into action too quickly. I would suggest though that you make sure anyone (who already knows the guild story) can understand it - of course you know what you're trying to say, but sometimes you can omit/not make clear enough certain points! (I often have trouble with that. Part of the problem likely being how long winded I am...) -
I'll throw my two cents into the pile and suggest Ninjago. Just because I've always loved it and Ninjas. And if you don't really get the sets (at first I didn't either, though they're still cool if you're into race-car-fast vehicles), you might consider watching a few episodes of the Ninjago TV show. That might not be your thing, of course. And if you're more interested in just building the sets, you might want to try building your own creations; if you look around EB, there are quite a few fantastic MOCs that might get you inspired! (Plus, that way you don't spend as much... until you start buying pieces just so you can build... ). Prince of Persia is pretty good, especialy since it seems you're into licensed themes. And I don't own any Modulars yet but I sure wish I did!

With the clearer pictures (thanks!), Colby City is looking better than ever (tan profile bricks! ), and I like the StageCoach design, though it doesn't seem to have that many useful pieces other than the three horses (which is pretty much the selling point for me), and I sure hope it's more around the $40 rather than $50 which strikes me as really expensive. The Mine has some great pieces for someone who uses tan as much as I do, but I don't like the overall design as much as the others (never did like tan and grey combos, whether it be on a castle or wherever). I'll probably be waiting for that to drop in price before I pick it up and if it doesn't, I just won't get it. The other three don't apeal to me so much, though the Calvery Builder is nice, but I'm not to into that era so I don't really want an army of blue-coated soldiers...

Yeah, it will be great to see what everyone comes up with! -
It's likely there will be, however only the teaser site is live right now (as far as I know, at least).

Love the ice-cream eating insect... I haven't tried building Sci-Fi before (that much at least) though I always wanted too. Guess this will make me get around to it!

Yeah, that's the cool thing, reading up on it, it seems to cover almost anything... (What exactly is steampunk though? Old-fashioned looking rusty machienery?)

Review: 70011 Eagles' Castle
Kai NRG replied to Rogue Angel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I had been thinking about skipping this set - but now that you point out the pieces, I've always needed some gold clips and this might be a good excuse! One suggestion about the photography; if you have a program that will do it, just hitting auto-adjust will take out a lot of the tint - though I'm one to talk, my photos aren't so great! Thanks for the review! -

Yes, you've got some good points there, the logical place for any fight to take place would be in Cedrica. But if he was driven out of there and forced to retreat... that was what I was trying to get at. -
After seeing him up close in Rogueang's review, I'm almost positive he's male.

But as long as we're writing the story, he could retreat to some rocky fortress in the mountains... or a nice summer palace in Valaryio... or a fortified tower of Avalonia... -
Thanks to all of you! Indeed! What were we thinking? Thanks, that was the part I was most happy about. The entire reason for incorporating it into the mountain is that it's not the right size to make a whole round tower... and I didn't have enough 2x2 tiles... DG, thanks for the tip! That would vastly have improved my Through the Desert, why didn't I think of it?

Thanks, guys! The micro castle was really pretty tough as getting everything to coincide while SNOTing the rocks was quite a chore!

Thanks! Yes, he was one of the figs I was able to get closest too! Thanks! The lighting is actually direct sunlight, I tried in the shade and though everything else looked just as good it didn't give me quite the effect I wanted for the window. Doh! Oh, well, I blame my brother, he's the one that built you! Thanks!

Great build Legonardo, especially the domed roof! Nice incorporation of the Avalonian sand green! Like the door too!

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
So Challenge VI has been announced! I'll probably start pretty soon as it's very unlikely I'll have any time in March, though I have a few other ideas I want to do and I think I'll incorporate part of my story into it. Unfortuantly I'm not very up to date on the Revolward story... though I know the backstorys of most of the guilds pretty well, that's one story I never bothered to read up on. I guess a few hours should remedy that though! I never really liked mixing interiors and exteriors too much, so I might just do all interiors. Guess it depends on where the story goes! I think I can promise you it will have something to do with the red ruby though... Anyway, enough rambling. Anyone else inspired by the new challenge, besides Da Maximus and me? -

What would the point of "start working" be if you couldn't submit until after Challenge VI? Anyway, I don't see why Si wouldn't take Da Maximus or anyone else who enters early.
