  1. Just double checking - the Raenette has a speed of 3, right? We're always glad to have more warship protection! You're welcome to sign your ships up as escorts for whichever convoy you prefer. I'll PM you with more details/suggestions.
  2. It needs a few tweaks, but we hope to see it up again in a couple of days.
  3. Very nice. The posing of the Lord Chancellor's staff always behind him like that is pretty funny. Really like that floor pattern!
  4. Finally got around to taking a picture of my picture-taking set up. It was easy to forget about. Obviously large MOCs require more sheets of paper (pretty much anything over 32x32). The wood slats aren't the flatest things on the block, but they're not bad. I move the set-up around as shade requires; so sometimes I take pictures on the front porch or on a table off to the side. I do not shoot with a tripod - I tried it and didn't experience the magical improvement so many AFOLs promised it would bring. Seriously; I can't tell the difference, at all, and it's a good deal more work. So I shoot handheld, with a minimal of messing around with the settings on the camera. Macro is definitely a must, and on occasion Super Macro is useful too. I almost never zoom, not quite sure why, but I've just gotten into the habit of putting the camera as close as possible for close-ups. Sometimes maybe that results in distortion, but usually I think it ends up fine. Editing generally involves a little bit of brightness and contrast (or a lot if I shoot on white paper) and a bit of work on the color, especially on the temperature which can really affect the vibrancy of green colors in particular. For very large builds, I sometimes edit out the whole background. A painstaking process, but I'm a lot faster at it now than I used to be!
  5. Thank you!
  6. I've got like 10 light bley and 6 dark, so color me highly impressed that you were able to achieve this even with a mix!
  7. Love the bright colors you've included! A very lively scene, nice to see something without snow. One minor criticism though, and maybe it's just me; but the dark and light grey walls, coming on top of all the other color variations you've already got going, just really stick out to me and make it hard to look at the MOC as a whole. They also make the depth perception confusing. But I really like the texture on that black roof and the red shutters are great!
  8. The shape of this building is spot on for what it's supposed to be; and the dark brown looks fantastic as does the snowscape on the roof especially. The lavender leaves do give a nice bit of color, but I also think that having a relatively tall dark green pine tree or so would really have helped balance things out in that regard, if you had the pieces for them... it just needs something to break up the symmetry. However, the interior is great and I love your use of those donut pieces for the path!
  9. Do you know how many times I had to type out Corrington in that whole post? One slip and I get called on it. JK. @Titus, so it's Orrinton now? MCTC likes iron. Orrnton.
  10. Very nice use of cheese slopes for the walls! If you could have tiled the dock I think that would have set it apart better as man-made, but the crab underneath was a great little addition!
  11. As long as it is capable of visiting 2 ports (which I think it should be?). Is the Dark Narwhal a warship? If so, there's no point sending it on a trading run; it doesn't have cargo space. Send me a PM and I'll let you know what sort of potentially profitable options the crown suggests for warships, if you're interested. If that's the case, Titus, it certainly needs to be switched. The Golden Snake will sail on Dragon's Teeth. The Prince Fernando (MCTC) will sail on Double Duty.
  12. Yes; the problem is that Corrington might not be interested in having to wait until next month's MRCA to be able to (potentially) use its ship. If Corrington officially asks for a longer deadline, that can easily be changed. The previous build off started much earlier in the month, so it was easy to give it a longer deadline and still have time for voting.
  13. Just wanted to say, thanks a ton to Phred, Captain Genaro, dr_spock and anyone else who has worked on this part of the automation side of this game. Fantastic job and this is going to make the workload going forward so much easier! Thank you guys!
  14. dr_spock is correct as to the basic intention. I certainly do not like the unlimited sistershipping rule and was astonished when I first heard of it. But I believe that Ska has made it clear that this is actually the way things are set up right now. I'm just repeating him, admittedly more explicitly. And I'm also repeating him when I say that it is definitely going to change. I don't know how correct it is to say that as a general rule you can't sistership your MOC until you lost it. That has been general policy, and I feel, as probably many others do, that it should be the rule, but I'm not sure at all that it is the rule (rather the opposite!).
  15. Currently (and this most certainly will change) the rules on sistershipping are very loose. It's just a matter of paying the license and giving it a new name. So, yeah, you could sistership a ship you lost and then buy it back as well. Or you could sistership a ship before you lost it. I don't think anyone has done this, but the rules certainly allow for it.
  16. I like the clean lines of this build, the red roof is excellent and the boarded up window is a great addition! I also really like the modular aspect!
  17. Last month, the dastardly "Bloodsucker," captained by Whoknowswho and flying the flag of Carno, forced the HMS Bullshark to surrender. This act of aggression has proved very concerning to Corrington, and it has determined that it will not permit its shipping to be threatened in this manner with impunity! Carno has been willing to allow Corrington to bring the case to its courts where it will decide whether or not it acted rightly in giving Captain Whoknowswho a valid Letter of Marque to attack Corrington. So we're calling for volunteers for a build off to decide the case. Three volunteers for each side (Carno and Corrington). To volunteer, apply in this topic and state which side you'd like to help. Each volunteer will have to build one MOC. 20x20 limit on MOC size, with a minimal overhang. Deadline is June 5th. Any BoBS member can volunteer for Carno, except Corries. Only Corries can volunteer for Corrington. Each team must incorporate the following four themes at least once in their total of three builds: the jury, Queen Annette, Captain Whoknowswho, and pine trees. Once the teams are determined, a PM thread will be set up for each team. Builds must be posted in their own thread and linked to below. All builds will earn 10 DBs (but will not count as free builds). If Carno wins, Carno volunteers will receive 50 DBs in addition to the 10 DBs for building. If Corrington wins, the Corrington crown is left to its own discretion whether or not to offer a bonus to its volunteers. Building may commence immediately, but waiting to confer with your fellow builders might be advantagous. After the 27th, a voting thread will be set up. All EB members will be invited to determine (based on the MOCs) which side deserves to win this case. If Corrington wins, the ship will be restored to the crown. If Carno wins, the ship will remain with Captain Whoknowswho. More information on Whoknowswho: Who knows what? So... who's up for a challenge? Throw down the gauntlet and let's get bricking!
  18. Not for the secretary.
  19. Guy K. Wyndzon has placed a bid. For the record, I sent it immediately after posting and thus before anyone else bid; also, I sent it to Garmadon and Phred so they can confirm (if necessary) that I didn't change my bid. Sorry about that. Knew I had forgotten something. Been dashing off a lot of boring threads recently. The deadline is May 27th!
  20. Excellent expansion! I really like the little side building. Good work including pigs too!
  21. That whole process is actually also very inconvenient for automation; but it's more complicated and is not involved in this rule change. Currently you are not expected to actually "unlicense;" just license the next one and your other license is supposed to automatically expire; but this is easier said than done.
  22. To all those who sail the Brick Seas - Gather round! This month, two infamous pirates (Harrison Torn and Gregory Decker) have been doing "business" on the Brick Seas and captured a couple of trading vessels. But what would a pirate do with a trading vessel? All they want is to get their grubby fingers on a few shiny doubloons. So, they're offering their captured trade vessels for auction. Revenant, 2F Golden Filly, 5F PM me (@Kai NRG) with your highest bid. The highest bidder wins and will have to pay 5 DBs above the second highest bid (or his original bid, if that's less than 5 DBs over second). Once you have bid, drop a note in this thread stating the fact (but, of course, not the quantity). (Failure to comply with either of those two requirements will result in disqualification.) Auction ends May 27th, 12:00 noon, my time zone (GMT -4). You will not have to pay any further licensing fees, unless the ship would put you over the three ship bar. In case of a tie, first bidder wins. Be sure you will have the DBs available before the end of the month. Let the bidding begin!
