  1. Nice scene. A suggestion for producing a real fog effect: Shoot with a long exposure (say 0.5s) and squirt freezer spray onto the moc during the exposure.
  2. Cheapest & most flexible option is to use a bag of leaded LEDs with some thin connecting wire, a pack of croc clips, 9V battery and a 2K series resistor to limit the current. Also useful to have a soldering iron for connecting the wires to the LED legs. Bit of a pain to setup but the benefit is you can use them in lots of different ways - threading them into lots of different types of bricks - compared to an off-the-shelf system which ties you into one particular lighting brick. If you don't want the hassle of soldering then you can do alot with LED key-ring torches - although the batts don't last long.
  3. A really nice, compact sci-fi floating car. Great job.
  4. I like everything but particularly the two white croissants.
  5. Thanks Danny! I really like that Arvo moc too. I also like GrantMasters alien stuff: (sorry - can't embed a pic since Yahoo broke flickr on my ipad2)
  6. The trouble with brick-built aliens is the head always looks too blocky at minifig scale - typically being made from a single curved slope brick. So when you put them in a brick-built environment it's hard to visually distinguish them from other brick-built objects. They really need an organic head shape that's distinct from other bricks. Fortunately there are some nice custom Aliens minifigs available from Blacktron http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58464&st=75 I'm working on a new moc using Blacktron's figs which I hope to finish soon.
  7. Really nice variation on the Saratoga. I like your modifications.
  8. I think the majority of adult OT fans like me actively dislike the Prequels so would not be interested in reliving the disappointment with an expensive UCS model. Agree with Flieger that the PT ships were far less prominent and (IMO) the designs were also far less interesting than the OT ships - reflective of the general lack of care and critical thought applied to all areas of the PT movies. Here's hoping JJ Abrams can revive the franchise with his reboot.
  9. > the concept of making money without providing a service is despicable to me But the seller in this case IS providing a service. He purchased and stored a MISB Falcon for this rich buyer to enjoy. It's a huge box and he's stored it for 8 years - so yes - that's providing a service by any definition. Nothing wrong with that. The set was available from Lego stores for anyone who wanted to buy it new - so he wasn't depriving anyone of a set.
  10. Very nice. I like the movie accurate uruk's pikes and the nice snotted wall facia. The massed ranks of regular uruks could perhaps do with a little more variation in their posing and positioning - but great job overall.
  11. Just wanted to add my voice to all the others congratulating you on this masterpiece. A real joy to behold. Fantastic work all round.
  12. Great build. A funny idea, brilliantly executed.
  13. Nice moc but suggest you buy a large sheet of white paper and photograph the model on that. The tablecloth is a bit distracting :) Alternatively you can tape A4 sheets together.
  14. Very nice. Interesting choice of colour. I'm unfamliar with the details of the Jules Verne original story: was the Nautilus made of wood or metal? Anyhow - great looking sub.
  15. Really nice mod. The original set scored a resounding 'meh', but this looks really good. If only there was a way to make the inside-legs look less technic-y. I guess you could jam some technic half-pins in the holes and slap some 1x8 tiles on there.
  16. Very nice. I like the cardboard sand dunes too.
  17. Great job on the curves and angles. Love his skirt :)
  18. I voted Orthanc but actually, I think Shelob attacks was the best value and probably the set I would have enjoyed playing with most if I was a child. I like Deathleech's idea for a LOTR CMF line - that would have been great - but I understand why TLG spread the figs out so you had to buy all the expensive sets to complete your collection. Real shame that the 2nd LOTR wave sucked - then those dreadful overlong Hobbit movies came out with even worse sets. Way to kill off what had been an exciting Lego series. Shame,
  19. Uruks for the custom helmets, swords and sheilds - and for being available in the UK in a polybag Sun newspaper promotion, allowing fans to amass a decent army without breaking the bank. I've got about 80 and plan to do some Orc mocs once I've finished my Aliens stuff. PS. Worst orcs = any without a hat or hair. Cheapskates.
  20. Yes - the flickr app still works OK - but on the older iOS you're limited to the iPhone version of the app - which has low res and reduced features. But at least I can still comment using that.
  21. These are all really cool. Great combo of parts and weapons.
  22. Really nice. I like the way it's broken up into 3 vignettes. Would look excellent on the display shelf.
  23. Interesting - I've never used Brickshelf or Photobucket because I always found their websites rather slow to load compared to flickr. Also PBucket lacks the community of lego followers and commenters which is so great on flickr. As for Opera, I tried it but often had issues with compatibility with services like Hotmail. But up until now iPad safari has always run everything without a problem. I normally browse flickr everyday on my iPad, but break out the PC when I want to upload something (Firefox + NoScript + AdBlock+). Here's hoping they haven't broken the firefox support, but older iPad support is now well and truely broken.
  24. Yup - they seem to be working thru the pages, breaking them as they go. Initially I only had a problem with the individual photo viewing page - now they've moved onto the main timeline page - I get a 'cannot verify server identity' error. The only change seems to be the photo-info boxes are now grey-on-white instead of white-on-black - hardly worth breaking the whole site for. The only unmolested pages that still work are photostream and groups. I expect they'll let their work-experience junior programmers ruin them in the next few days. As long as it looks OK on the latest smartphone. Nevermind about testing on anything more than 2 years old.
