Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Anyone can create a company IC, but to get the EGS advantages(owning and operating ships, own licensing limit), it has to be chartered by the faction. And each faction can only charter three, so the factions will probably set up some conditions before giving out a charter. (Eg. well established in the lore, minimum amount of members, and proof of loyalty). On top of that, to be chartered, the TC needs to have a Headquarter, a warehouse and a ship. -

The entity that makes the payment (and thus owns the property) is the one using up its limit. Settlements, players, factions, and chartered companies are the ones that has this limit. -

It's super that you play along, Mesabi. I don't expect to use merchant ships, but if push comes to shove, the Colonial Governor will most definitely ask the captains of the WTC ships to aid her majesty's efforts to ensure the safety of Corlander interests! :) -

I'd suggest we let it slide for this once, and then ask you to respect it in the future. Will get back to you if the rest of leadership objects. :) -

Not with a pirate, but with a representative of a group of individuals. Montoya's principle is to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and at least hear them out. This has served Corrington many times in the past, but if her Royal Majesty and the Parliaments disagree, I am certain he will listen... Well... If he can be found, that is... -

Official Report, October 31st, 617 King's Harbour, Cocovia To Rear Admiral Fletcher, Commander of the Royal Terra Novan Fleet, I regret to inform you that Corrington is under attack. During a routine patrol in the waters west of Cocovia, in command of the HMS Ironsides with the private vessel Justicia sailing in consort, we spotted a squadron of warships flying the Sea Rat colours. Upon closing to learn of their intention, they opened fire upon the Justicia. Lieutenant Mcleod and his men are to be commended for their high state of readiness and expert gunnery, immediately returning fire and sinking the nearest enemy, the class 4 brig of war "Harvester". However, with a fire threatening her magazine, the Justicia was forced to retreat. Laying the Ironsides to screen her, returning fire on these pirates, the Justicia was able to retreat safely. Now faced with overwhelming odds (the class 5 war junk "Viper", and the class 4 brig "Pineapple Revenge") and a mainmast wounded thrice, I broke off the engagement and retreated to King's Harbour to refit. Considering the strength and nature of the threat, and the diplomatic ramifications, I hereby request orders and further resources to ensure the safety of Corlander shipping. And I humbly suggest that all Colonial Governors are given the resources to protect our shipping. Current resources available at my command in King's Harbour: Class 5 postship, HMS Ironsides Class 4 brig of war, Justicia One class 1 Colonial Gunboat Further, two WTC merchant vessels (the class 4 "WTC Beacon" and the class 6 "WTC Icarus Returning"), both of some firepower, may be of some assistance. In service of Her Royal Majesty Captain Jno. Cooke, RN Colonial Governor, The Southern Isles PS. I am concerned that our common friend, don Isaac Montoya, is missing after having approached the Sea Rats as a diplomatic representative, a concern not soothed by the sudden attack from the Sea Rats. Should you have any news of his well-being, I should be much obliged! -
How would this work? If they are not spelled correctly in the form, how should we id them?
-
I think there were some typos in their names in the form, which have to be picked up manually. At least I seem to remember finding this in my later experiments with the form responses. So take care to check your spelling :)

In zone 26, there is a Carnoan port/Island. What is the name? Can't make it out on the map. Help appreciated. -
Note that upkeep isn't a flat rate. Your Base upkeep is the total upkeep of all ships (including the free one). Your first 100 DBs in Base upkeep is free, the next 100 has no multiplier, and from there there is an increasing multiplier as upkeep rises. Note that the big ships should be expensive to run, for instance in war, but of course, big (merchant) ships should also have the chance for a high profit. (Which is something we will be adjusting)

Note to all. We will be making adjustments to the tMRCA so the results for this month may differ significantly from following months.

We are looking at making adjustments to the tMRCA. Consider that this is the first run with the new mechanics and that it is hard to predict how things like this work out. We have found some aspects of it that does not give the right incentives for different strategies and we will be looking at adjusting it over the coming months. For now, just accept that shipping is risky business, and that while you some times strike it big, some times you will have a loss. And anyways, there is far too much cash in BoBs as is, so a few moguls making big losses from time to time might not be too bad. -

@Lazer: Welcome to our ranks! I like the alternative backstory, and will be looking forward to seeing how this will play into the lore of our *cough cough* recently acquired areas. The Royal Society will be looking forward to cooperation with a fellow scientist and the "Gerousia of Physis", and may even in time offer you membership, should it be of interest. @commodore bricksfeild: Lazer's is a good example of a sign up thread, with the sig figs and some background. Your official sign-up is not finalised until you have posted your sig fig. -

@kurigan Why would you think I don't care? :) I very much agree with your comments. The old hulls put the vessel too high in the water and makes the proportions come out somewhat skewed. And where I to build a more realistic waterline model, I would never go for this approach. However, my objective here was to try the old pre-fabs for a realistic-ish vessel suitable for the game. And I think I have achieved a reasonable result. And to that I can add that it is fairly sturdy. :) @Kolonialbeamter I will consider reworking the bowsprit. I agree it looks too heavy for the vessel. @Mesabi Interesting! I suppose you are going for wings, right? I think I would add a few more "feathers" on each side, and then I would suggest you construct it so that the wings can be swept backwards, around the bow of the vessel. Note though, that for such a large figure head, it has to be a large ship! :D (but if the wings double as headrails, it would make sense) -

You can only be in one faction. But there is nothing stopping you from adding a character to your "portfolio" from another faction. But say you use that character to play in attacks on your countrymen probably wont make you any friends... ;) -

*a hasty note arrives at the governors office* To the Colonial Governor, Count Mesabi's finances have been put in some sort of order, and you may release the ships. Thank you for your assistance. Regards Sir E. Summerridge BoC @Mesabi)- 77 replies

Dear Countess Mesabi, The BoC is happy to accept the transfer of security to the WTC Beacon, and shall inform authorities in King's Harbour to release your ships immediately. Please also note that the BoC has added the 21 dbs (25% of 84 worth of trade proceeds) to your outstanding debts, and hopes that we will soon start seeing the first installments of the repayment of your debts. Pleased to be of service, Sir Edward Summerridge, Executive Director, BoC

Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Colonial Governor Jno. Cooke, Captain, RN, Due to failure to comply to agreed conditions for a sizeable loan of 200 dbs, I hereby officially ask that you withhold, by any means possible, the WTC ships moored in King's Harbour, as security for a total outstanding of 450 dbs in the name of Count @Mesabi, director of the WTC. I shall inform you of the official release as soon as he has brought his affairs in order. Your servant Sir Edward Summerridge Executive Director, BoC You should simply post your ship in the Brethren of the Brick Seas forum (Example of how to post a ship here) and then you can license it, if you have the money, or for free, if it is a class 1 or 2 vessel. (We will help you classify it once it is posted :) And if needed, we can normally find a solution for licensing it, if you don't have the money yourself) But first, you must post your sig fig in the Corrington sign up thread in this link. Before doing so, you are not truly part of the game. That is also the thread where I would suggest you ask your questions going forward. As to the Royal Navy in Terra Nova, you can see some details in this post. And I am convinced your ship will most definitely help!- 77 replies

@Mesabi: Dear count Mesabi, It has come to our attention that you have failed to inform us that the Suckerfish has been decommissioned. As you are well-aware, the BoC had security in that vessel, and its decommisioning has not been followed by repayment of the 200 dbs outstanding. The BoC does not take kindly to defaulters, and cannot accept such behaviour. Thus, I shall inform the authorities in King's Harbour to withhold the WTC ships there as security for our outstanding loans, until such a time that an agreement for your total outstanding of 450 dbs has been reached. Best regards Sir Edward Summerridge Executive Director, BoC
