Interesting (including the fact that you decide to publish it *after* the deadline...), Maxim. Can you explain the colour codings? It does not immediately make sense to me.

The vessels in question are positively identified. Such is the nature of the game. Sea Rats did attack us. Knowingly. -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Bregir replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@MKJoshA Please find enclosed after action reports from the incidents in question. 1st incident: (From the official report of Captain Jno. Cooke, RN) "I regret to inform you that Corrington is under attack. During a routine patrol in the waters west of Cocovia, in command of the HMS Ironsides with the private vessel Justicia sailing in consort, we spotted a squadron of warships flying the Sea Rat colours. Upon closing to learn of their intention, they opened fire upon the Justicia. Lieutenant Mcleod and his men are to be commended for their high state of readiness and expert gunnery, immediately returning fire and sinking the nearest enemy, the class 4 brig of war "Harvester". However, with a fire threatening her magazine, the Justicia was forced to retreat. Laying the Ironsides to screen her, returning fire on these pirates, the Justicia was able to retreat safely. Now faced with overwhelming odds (the class 5 war junk "Viper", and the class 4 brig "Pineapple Revenge ") and a mainmast wounded thrice, I broke off the engagement and retreated to King's Harbour to refit." 2nd incident: (From a letter sent by a survivor of the Western Wind) "We were set upon at dawn, and did our best to fight back, hoping we could make our escape. To our great regret, the enemy showed no mercy and our unwillingness to surrender made them hole us several times, leading to the Western Wind sinking. As they sailed on in the rising sun, I could clearly identify them as Cardinal and Misfortune's Revenge. We had never thought to consider Sea Rats our enemy, but this incident has left me with no doubt. The captains of the above vessels are nothing but vile pirates." Otherwise, I have no further comments. Our position has been made clear, and justice shall be served one way or another. Any future trespasses against Corlander citizens and interests shall be dealt with similarly. Rear Admiral Fletcher Commander-in-Chief, Royal Nova Terran Navy -
[COR - Cruisers of Terra Nova] HMS Wentham - Class 5
Bregir replied to Flavius Gratian's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Flavius, where do I start? This is marvellous! You have here created a vessel that is both good looking and historically accurate. And while I appreciate all the different approaches to ship building in BoBs, the one closest to my heart is undoubtedly this one. Let me give you a few comments: 1) She is far too good not to be rendered. I hope @Kolonialbeamter can help you, or that someone can dig up a guide, cause I really want to see her rendered. :) 2) I am loving your description - taking the time to make a small historical description with details on her armament and back story like you have done here really gives it that extra flavour to me. My only wish was that you had included the size of the broadside guns. (probably 4-pounders?) :) 3) Hull Generally, I think you have mastered the hinges technique fairly well, both in your use of vertical and horizontal hinges. If anything, (Although it is hard to make out) she might be a little straight-sided. Could you show us a picture of the hull from above? Both bow and stern appear very well built. I particularly like the gun ports and davits at the stern. Slightly more elaborate headrails could make her bow a bit more interesting, but I am not sure that would be historically accurate. :) 4) Rigging Very well done with nice overall proportions (which are hard to get right) and a great attention to detail, like the masts and bowsprit in several pieces. My favourite detail is how your spanker boom is attached to the mainmast - I have been looking for such a solution for a while now. The brick built sails (and flag! :O) works well for LDD and you have managed a nice shaping. 5) Detailing Nice guns, ladders, tiled deck, brick built boat and minifigs all finish off the build nicely, making it come alive. All in all, a very strong entry to the cruisers incentive, and an impressive 2nd vessel, sir. Good to have you on board and hope you will share your experience with the rest of us. You are definitely in a position to offer advice to the rest of us in shipbuilding! And should you ever land a pot of gold, building her in the Brick would be great! :) -

[COR-AMRCA] Mokolei Expedition
Bregir replied to Lord Buckethead's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
In a barn near Tazelft the ETTC representative was visiting the sick Sepoys. "Bleeeerrgh!" One of the ETTC Sepoys was barfing into a barrel, while his brother in arms was sitting in the corner, fighting an unpleasant fever. "Mr. Bardsley, you are a famous medical man. Could you not concoct a cure?" he said between barfs with a pleading gaze. Brushing aside the question with smile Mr. Bardsley proclaime: "No no, most certainly you must be thinking of my brother of Royal Society repute, DOCTOR Bardsley." Shaking his head, he continued. "Last I heard of him, he was languishing away in some hospital in Belson with his books and corpses. He never was much of an adventurer... I am just a simple mercantile representative." "Oh dear... Blerrgh" retching painfully, the sepoy added. "So you cannot help?!" "I am sorry for your indisposition, young men. I am certain it is the local moonshine that has gotten the better of you." he said, adding: "But worry not, sirs. I have sent for scientists from the main expedition to find you a remedy." A few hours later, in a small house attached to the farm, a medical man of the expedition and his assistant was mixing local herbs, roots, and tinctures. "So you are certain it is a form of cholera, sir" "Most certainly - the symptoms leave me with no doubt. And this little mixture will, after a few minutes on the stove, set their bowels right within a few moments." The next day, a few locals was discussing the marvellous change in the strange foreigners. "Most certainly, the Gods must shine their favour upon these foreigners. Only yesterday, I should have thought they would succumb to divine intervention, but it seems the higher powers is willing them forward." "So it must be written. And most certainly, the large dark men are not of Halosian origin. I have no doubt they have Mokolei blood in them, which is certain to have granted them divine favour." "Then let us please the Gods and wish the foreigners a swift, uneventful journey. It will relieve of us their company and be in accordance to what is written." "Indeed! It is not our place to question what is written." And so the expedition recovers from illness through the prowess of Corlander science (Or divine favour, if you are Olean...) I am still excited to see where all this goes! A few more pictures in the spoiler. I am quite happy with this build, particularly the rounded roof, but would be happy for any C&C as always. -
@Flavius Gratian: I am expecting to reform this incentive a bit, which may mean slightly higher payouts. Do you need the 50 dbs right now (you will get any additional incentive later) or can you wait a bit? @Mike S: Sounds great, Mike! (And Black Squadron it is) Tomsche already named a vessel Pendragon, though, so you might want to reconsider the name?

Fill in like it asks (ships, troops, etc.), but if you are continuing an adventure, we will disregard whatever you put into your adventure treasury, as we will calculate that based on beginning account plus/minus any flows. :) (We need those details for upkeep etc.)
-
NB: We have decided to lower upkeep to 15 % of license cost Rules will be updated later. This change will also be implemented backwards to include last MRCA.

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Bregir replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To all Sea Rats, Corrington has considered the recent concerns with regards to our recent statement regarding Sea Rat attacks on Corlander shipping. This leads us to bring some clarifications. Corrington does not consider itself at war with the Sea Rats federation, and will not attack Sea Rat vessels outside specific zones. The attackers have been clearly identified, both by our own officers and external sources, including the KPA. They have been tracked to Bastion. Corrington will strike against the pirates and anyone aiding the culprits. For harbouring pirates, we currently consider Bastion an outlaw settlement, and will subject it and the surrounding sea zones to a powerful blockade. Sea Rats not wishing to be dragged into the conflict should seek to avoid these waters, as we have no wish to cause unnecessary bloodshed. Corrington is forced to accept collateral damage, which will not be compensated, but pledge to return any prizes taken that are found to be unaffiliated with the pirates. Sea Rat ports that decide to harbour pirates will be considered outlaw. Her Majesty urges all Sea Rats to stand against those that would sully the name of your federation by damaging relations with Corrington, who has always respected your desire to be free. However, she cannot and will not abide these affronts to her Crown and the safety of her people. Should these concerns be addressed, losses compensated, and the culprits brought to justice, however, the situation is changed and we may call off the blockade. On behalf of her Majesty, Rear Admiral Fletcher Commander-in-Chief, Royal Terra Novan Navy _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To the Mayor of Bastion, Bastion is currently harbouring vessels and crews guilty of piracy against Corlander shipping. We hereby demand immediate action against the criminals and their vessels (named below), and suggest immediate extradition to Corlander authorities. Otherwise, we shall be forced to take military action. We consider any port that harbours proven pirates outlaw and will react accordingly. The following vessels have been positively identified as taking part in piracy against her Majesty's vessels and subjects: Viper Pineapple's Revenge Cardinal Misfortune's Revenge On behalf of her Majesty Rear Admiral Fletcher Commander-in-Chief, Royal Terra Novan Navy -

[COR-CWW] The Cocovia wagonway: a royal collaboration

@spud: Looking good. I generally agree with Bart's excellent advice and the informative part about winding anchors is spot on. As to small arms, they would normally be under lock and key (apart from officers' and marines weapons), to avoid the the crew in a fit of mutinous rage trying to take over the ship. Before action with a risk of hand to hand fighting arms would be dealt out to the crew. At least that is my understanding of the Royal Navy during napoleonic Era. -

@Drunknok: Of the above, only the challenge on Celestia is "official". The rest are player driven incentives. Thus, you should clearly distinguish them. There will be player driven incentives throughout the life of BoBS, but generally, the "official" challenges are the big thing. :) -

To all affiliating themselves with the Sea Rats, During the last month, privateers flying the very flags of your brotherhood have in several instances openly attacked Corlander shipping, including both merchant and national vessels. Corrington can not abide with such blatant attacks on our shipping, safety and sovereignty, and hereby informs all Sea Rats that unless these matters are resolved to her Majesty's satisfaction, the Royal Navy will hunt down the perpetrators without regard to collateral damage, seizing any and all Sea Rat vessels encountered. Should this message find you interested in resolving these matters peacefully, you may address any communications to me in Arlinsport. Rear Admiral S. Fletcher Royal Navy, Terra Nova -

There appears to be news in the case of Montoya's disapperance... https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/156051-on-a-deserted-island/ -
Day 3, Landfall After two days at sea with no sight of land, this morning a formation of clouds betrayed a large landmass to the south. Baker immediately set what little sail we had and with oars in hand beached us before noon. I have not been able to identify the island, and with no expertise and no navigational implements, neither the stars, the sun, nor the moon offers any consolation. Curiously enough, both young Baker and myself have failed to recall any clues as to how we ended up on the raft, but we are well supplied with a chest of basic tools and provisions enough to last us some while, even if we should be unable to find a suitable source of nutrition. None of us has any recollection of what happened after we landed on Tortuga to meet with Captain Benjamin Morgan. And while the island appears ripe in possible food sources, flora and fauna, neither offers me any clues as to our location. The avifauna suggests that we might be in the Prio Seas, but thus far it is all conjecture. Baker, as ever the very image of activity and good spirits, has vigorously set about figuring out how to make our existence on this desolate piece of land bearable, and I have every confidence that he shall succeed. I believe I may be in his way, and will spend our time until we are rescued productively, describing the species off this island. This may well prove an invaluable scientific opportunity and a well-earned break from my diplomatic duties. Montoya...

My general impression is that it is similar in size to Maxim's SOTL's so I think it might be a class 7, as Maxim said. But no ruling can ever be made on anything but a finished vessel. As to the curvature, do what you prefer yourself. I simply suggest how you can achieve a more elegant and realistic shape. (Take a look at bodi's recent silent Mary for some nice curves) In reality, the tall sides of your moc would probably give her some rather unhandy characteristics in the wind ;) I do understand that you are not going for realism, and that is perfectly fine, but it would be nice to at least have one's comments acknowledged ;) -

I'd say no, but within reason. The new ship may IC have fewer or smaller guns or similar. But the stats should still reflect the moc. :) -

Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Challenge I is up! So go join other explorers and scientists of far away Celestia to search for curious beetles, fearsome beasts, beautiful orchids, mountain ranges or waterfalls! Perhaps you will be the one earning a lifetime of fame by discovering the Superb Orchid? Will it be the middle of a heavenly scene, or hidden behind traps and riddles in an Indiana Jones like adventure? It's all up to you! NB: In era II, each main challenge will focus on developing one area of the "hosting nation", and highlight the specialty of each nation. For challenge I it is Corrington and Science. We may also add smaller "story-challenges" in between, but you will see. Soon(TM).....
