  1. Another beautiful build, Puvel. As always, the colors and the presentation is spot on, and it looks perfectly tropical. The use of lime green for the undergrowth with the green stalks is very effective, and the building is great, inside and out. I like the fact that you did not finish the roof, as it lets a lot of light in, and gives us full access to see the inside. Another great addition to King's Harbour - great work!
  2. Oh, great interior! I entirely agree with the others, the details, composition and colour scheme of this build is just great! I can't wait to see what he is inheriting! ;)
  3. In service of the Crown, I hereby declare my participation for Corrington. A letter of marque against our shipping is entirely unacceptable, and will not be tolerated! For Queen, Parliament and Science!
  4. Hear Ye, Hear Ye, brave sailors of the Brick Seas, Are you too troubled by the pirate and privateer menace, preying on peaceful shipping in New Terra and beyond? Or are you simply a sword for hire looking to turn a profit for you and your crew? Then search no more! The great empires of the Brick Seas are looking for your help in fighting this scourge, so head over there and sign up! Glory and profits await for Oleanders, Eslandolianderians, Corrishmen, and Sea Rats alike! The Brick Seas Purge of 616
  5. Prelude: Drastic Measures Not only in Oleon was the threat of pirates and privateers being noted... And now, everyone with an eye for security and order on the seas (or for profits) has a place to turn! Read though the following and sign up your warship to keep the Sea Lanes safe! __________________ In one of the many ministries of Bellson, the undersecretary was going through the correspondence from New Terra. Being undersecretary was an honourable position, but George Robertson found most of the correspondence wearisome. Someone had to go through it, though, and the secretary himself surely was not going to lower himself to such humble tasks. Lately, a clear pattern was emerging: Pirates and privateers. The Brick Seas was no safe place to travel, and while hurricanes, reefs, and calms were to be expected, the amount of privateering activity was excessive. Complaints even talked of national ships preying on Corlander vessels! It was time to do something, and Mr. Robertson had been tasked with setting up a charter for a joint task force to hunt the privateers down. The secretary himself hoped that Oleon and Eslandola would both join forces, as intelligence suggested they had similar challenges. Perhaps even private contractors would contribute, hoping to take part in the profits of such a venture. ____________________________________________ The Brick Seas Purge of 616 Royal Navies, Trade Companies, and Enterprising Individuals of all allegiances! In recent months, the threat of Pirates and Privateers in the Brick Seas have skyrocketed, posing an extensive threat to honest traders, and complicating the growth and supply of our new settlements. Therefore, we now call upon you to join us in our efforts of purging the seas of these villains, and ask that you contribute warships to a common task force to hunt them down. All contributions will be welcomed with open arms, and we hope to be able to form several powerful squadrons to patrol as many sea zones as possible. These squadrons will be formed as vessels are found available, and each squadron will have a commodore appointed amongst its captains. Further, all participants will have their share of total profits. The prizes will be pooled from all patrols and shared out relative to contribution to the joint task force. The total prize pool will consist of: Gun-money 15 dbs will be added to the prize pool per enemy gun-rating sunk. Up to a maximum of 300 dbs. This cost will be covered by the participating Nations. Bounty from recaptures Vessels recaptured will be returned to former ownership against a 20 % bounty of license value. Auction sales Remaining captures will be offered on auction with a minimum price of 50 % of license value. Prizes Captures not sold on auction will be condemned as prizes, and all proceeds added to the prize pool. The total prize pool will go towards the following: Compensation for losses To encourage private enterprise, participating private vessels lost in this venture will be compensated with 50 % of license value. However, this compensation cannot surpass 50 % of the total sum of the prize pool. Payout After compensation has been paid out, the remainder of the prize pool will be distributed amongst all participating vessels, private and national, regardless of whether they survived the action. The distribution will be relative to the contribution based on rating. (i.e. a 2A will get 2 shares, while a 5HA/5LA will get 5 shares. ) It is our hope that you will join us in our efforts towards purging the seas of this scourge. Signed George Robertson Undersecretary of Trade Bellson OOC: This is a joint project between Oleon, Eslandola and Corrington to stop some of the pirate and privateer threat facing our warships. However, Sea Rats are also welcome to sign up as individual contractors. The task force will not target Sea Rats, but instead the independent pirates and privateers of the Brick Seas. We hope to see many national and private vessels signing up for this venture.
  6. Looking good, BD. I think the sloped walls blend in tolerably well. For defensive purposes, the bulwarks seem on the low side, and I think I would suggest a more pronounced slope to the main walls, to better deflect gunfire. I also wonder where they store the gunpowder and shot, and how it is brought to the guns when under siege. The little tower is nice, as is the flat surface and the flagpole. The rockwork is simple, but effective. Well done!
  7. While I think the purple carpet might be a bit too much, I really like the build. It really plays on the superstitious nature of many sailors. And of course, it is interesting to see another religion in the Brick Seas! (Even if it has some rather liberal morals.. ;) )
  8. Ok, I have now taken a look at my accounts and the transactions doesn't seem to fit. Any way one can get a breakdown of the transactions going in and out of my account over the months? Further, there seems to be an issue with MRCA april. My MRCA for april seems wrong. I should have gotten 136 db from the Sphinx and 258 db from the Otter, for a total of 394. But the accounts put my MRCA gains at 227 more with 621 dbs. I wonder if I am missing something. Other than that, great work with the accounts!
  9. All part of a devious scheme to confuse the lords of Maestro ;)
  10. Nice looking brig, Faladrin! It is really nice to see some of these captures MOC'ed, as it adds diversity to the fleets of BoBS. I am still wondering why Maestro is building all those warships, though. Perhaps they have ulterior motives? A new world order, perhaps? ;) I like the brick built hull, and the overall shape is pretty good. Your rigging is also improving, and I have only one specific comment. The sails and the flags are not in agreement about the direction of the wind :P Nice story too.
  11. Nice build - the colour scheme is nice, and the simplistic architecture is very fitting for the setting. The interior is very nice too, and it is nice that you have included staircases. I will question the wisdom of having the store on the top floor, though. Seems like a lot of work to get the goods in and out! ;) I would suggest adding a little environment, perhaps a street or a small garden, around the build. My favourite part, though, is that you make Maxim speculate even more as to the different trade company names and structures of Corrington! :P
  12. Reading it again, I think it is class x 10 + crew stat x 5.
  13. Nice little house, Phred. I think the overhang with this roof technique makes it look a bit top heavy, but other than that, it works rather well. Perhaps doing away with the overhang, or making the ground floor higher, would help. And on a larger building I think it will look great! The highlight of the build is the grounds, though. I really like the little vegetable plot and the road. Good to see someone using the Ile de Romantica licenses.
  14. I always enjoy your stories, FC, and the way you illustrate them with your builds make it like reading a comic book. I am loving the burning (and burnt) little trader, and your new trading vessel is nice. The hull is a little blocky round the back, but the overall shape and the railings are very nice. Of course, I would like to see some more work on the rigging. ;) Lastly, I resent the insinuation that Corlander vessels should be preying on Olean trade! It is probably pirates using the Corlander colours as a ruse de guerre. ;)
  15. It doesn't answer the question, though. How is it calculated? Is it 10 x class + 5 = 25 men, or is it related to crew numbers? For instance, I might send the Otter (well, a sister ship) there. Being a 3F, she has a crew rating of 0, so how many men does that mean? 35 or 5?
  16. I thought L'Olius was the hero of Terraversa in their fight for independence from Mardier... But perhaps he is playing the janus-game, betting on both sides? I am getting confused! :P
  17. Any Corlanders looking to recruit?
  18. Very cool little trading post, with a great backstory! (I just love stories of rich Corlanders... ;) ) The blue and yellow house, and the beach are my favorite parts too. This could be licensed as a large commerce, I suppose, if you could find a location for it. :)
  19. Quick Answer: Yes - it has been done already, I believe! Just make sure it is made clear. (Eg. write: "Unsinkable 2 (Formerly unsinkable 1)" when you capture it)
  20. Maxim is right, but for the future, when someone has decided to sell a vessel through the prize system, let us not interfere. I suggest that we give it a 24 hour grace period after posting, where anyone can make a purchase agreement with the seller. After this period, we will proceed (at first possible opportunity) to make the roll, and if the result is posted before being called off, the deal is final and the vessel will be sold as a prize. That way, no one can game the system. Silentwolf, please confirm whether you will proceed here. (Which will start the 24 hour period.)
  21. For me, if this gets any more guns, it would be a warship. It is too small to be a threedecker, so the additional 8 guns you are talking about would be warship armament, and would make her useless as a cargoship, as there would be no room for cargo! Well, that is my opinion. And I think the fact that you don't really like the WR stats is a pretty bad excuse! But let us wait until we see the new classes!
  22. Gald the feedback (and praise) was useful! Just a few comments: 1) Tautness: Well, that was exactly my point - if you can't make it taut, you are doing something wrong. I really like the challenge of stringing it all up in the right order, to make it stand correctly. Take a look at the Otter or the Athena - I used slightly different methods for making the bowsprit and the hull the origin of the tension, and it just stands better. It is not necessarily historically correct, and I am certain other, more experienced shipbuilders have better solutions, but it works! 2) Curvature: I think the current curvature is great. My comment was related to the fact that it seems to be evening out a bit as we go up the hull-levels, where historically, it should be getting more pronounced as we move to the higher decks. 3) Rating: I agree, she is very much the indiaman. But that is my exact point - Indiamen were not designated traders, but a compromise in themselves, with added guns for protection. For their size, they didn't have the largest possible cargo hold. Instead, many of them sacrificed some of that for a considerable armament. Of course, the line is a bit blurry: Some of them carried many guns, some fewer, but I think yours belong in the former catagory, and would hold herself against a considerable enemy. Therefore, I maintain that as a well-armed indiaman, she will be most fitting for a WR, at least in the vision of the new classes I have in my head. Obviously, there will be some leeway, and it all depends on the new classes, so it really is speculation I just do not really see how she could be anymore armed without turning into a full warship. There seems to be no room for a WR in between.
