I love the Xebec - it has such a very rakish look, and a fascinating history of corsairs and pirates in exotic waters! Hence, it should come as no surprise that I love all the examples we see here, and this is yet another one for the hall of fame! I love how the discreet, dark colours are offset with dark accents in green and purple, and the hull just has the right shapes, including that overhanging stern and the long beakhead. The rigging is very good too, and I love the rake of the foremast. The addition of an exotic crew from New Oleon is a nice touch too, Well done!

Nice little vignette - and happy to hear even a class 0 can bring in a profit!

[COR-FB3] The journey begins- Rowing up the Marion River.
Bregir replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Beautiful tree, great landscaping and water, and very realistic looking poses on those boats. This really is a great example of what can be achieved with very little text, few bricks, and a lot of talent. Can't wait to see what they find up that river! -
She should be Captained by a Jean-Luc (Picard....) Beautiful frigate, Dukesc, I am really impressed. And even more so considering she is built within the confines of prefab hulls! The shape and curve you have given her hull just looks right, and the yellow and black colourscheme is great. I really like the railings, and those carronades are looking right mean in a close encounter. I wouldn't suggest carronades as chasers, though, with the short range and inaccurate fire, but rather place them to rake an enemy's decks during a close encounter. The rigging is very well done too, and I am a big fan of the realistism, with masts in three parts, shrouds and stays, etc. And the quality of her rig really shows in her shadow on the wall. Very well done! I shall be looking forward to seeing her with sails! Of course, the military build-up in Oleon currently cannot fail to worry a peace-seeking Corlander, but at the same time, it is very impressive! Keep it up!

As I said on Flickr, I really like this design - it is stunningly simple! I have really been looking for some nice designs of different kinds of carriages, and this one is just fantastic. Well done! I would love to see these in the different streetscapes of BoBS as time goes by, and will be looking forward to seeing more of your designs!

Lovely little interior build with some nice artists details. The story is good too, but I feel like there is a hole in the story - tell me again why he was looking for an artist? He sure has a very astute sense of lies - really sees right through her! Funny story - will enjoy seeing it continued!

[SR - FB2] The Queen Annetta's Revenge
Bregir replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great looking pirate ship, Jacob. I really like the discreet colours with the golden accents, and I think her overall shape is pretty good, and also pretty realistic. The slope from fore to aft is pretty good, merging well into the raised cabin and the quarterdeck, I thikn the stern gallery and the quarter galleries (on the side) are very good too, and strikes a very nice balance between aestehics and darkness fitting for a pirate ship. The long rows of open gunports and the extra guns on deck makes her look very imposing. She is definitely a class 5, and while I would have picked a heavy, based on her looks, I think she works well as a 5LA too. I have got to disagree with Faladrin here. A brig-rig would be very much out of place here, as she seems like a late galleon, perhaps a race-built one to me, where the size of fore- and sterncastles would have started to decrease. And that means she should definitely be ship-rigged as in your example, including the lateen, rather than the spanker on the mizzen. With a brig rig, she would look very odd, I am certain. As to the size of masts, well, there can be several explanations. Early sailing ships did not have topgallant masts (which would raise the mast height to the proportion suggested by Faladrin and Maxim.). Alternatively, even later ships would sway down the topgallant masts for maintenance or in hard weather to avoid rolling them overboard or have them blown away. In short, I am not so concerned about the height of her masts. I should add, that generally, the rigging is very nicely done. Great work! Lastly, I have to comment on the Harpy! If the Queen ever finds out, I cannot promise you wont face a big bounty on your head!- 19 replies

Her Oleander origins cannot be questioned with that colourscheme! I like the use of smaller, custom guns, as I feel they are much more fitting for the vessels of these sizes than the Lego cannons. The slightly raised quarter deck and the discret cabin are my favourite part of the vessel, and I like the inclusion of a large crew. Perhaps experimenting with some tumblehome would be a good idea, as her current sides are rather flat? For future vessel, I would suggest reviewing the rigging - a ship-rigged sloop like this one would have three square sails on the fore- and mainmast, and one or two on the mizzen, above a spanker sail. The very large square sails currently on the fore and mizzen would be very hard to handle in rough weather, and the lack of a spanker sail would make her hard to steer. Overall, nice addition to the Royal Fleet! Corrington will surely rule the waves!

[Ol - FB1] Breshaun Silver Smelter
Bregir replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, while I still don't trust that Kimber-fellow (and for story purposes would have loved if you had found lead... ), this is a great continuation to the story. On top of that, the build seems well-researched and is very well executed. I like how you detail the process from the crushing of the ore to the official stamp on the finished ingots. I have just one question to the process: If the cauldrons are allowed to cool, would not the silver set, and then be impossible to pour into the molds? I think you wll need a better solution here! -
[COR - May FB3] Fort Denison, Mooreton Bay
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I was wondering when we would see the first Martello tower in BoBS, and of course, I was expecting it to be a Corlander invention! As always, you presentation, story and build is really nice, Ayrlego. I do somewhat agree with the general notion that we shouldn't build stuff so that it already two days after construction looks 200 years old, but I disagree with its application here. As you write yourself, this tower is build from rough sandstone blocks of different colour, hewn by unskilled penal labourers, so of course it would not look polished. In any case, it is a military installation, not a palace or monument, so it would make little sense to use finely polished, very expensive rocks, when these rough blocks do the job just as well. Great work! Will be looking forward to seeing more of Mooreton Bay!- 20 replies

Beautiful restaurant, Kai. I agree that the road and the colour scheme works brilliantly. The brown roof and the black detailing works surprisingly well with the dark red, and the lbg road gives a nice contrast. Those fence pieces works really well as windows two. And that uncle certainly knows what he wants, of not the best way to negotiate for it... :P

The NPC nations do seem to take some strange decisions regarding who to attack, and it is cool that you have used that as a story hook. Nice little vignette too. I hope the warbringer will be captured by a player or player faction at some point, so that we can get her back into the game! :D

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just to clarify (OOC) regarding Mardier. Mardier is not letting us use Terraversa. The Viceroy, virtually independent from Mardier due to civil wars in Mardier, is. Instead, Mardierian (and Terraversian, as it is) have attacked vessels of several nations, including Corrington. As to Maxim's speculations regarding Corrington's diplomatic objectives and policies, or the merits of these, that is entirely on his own account.- 897 replies

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
My lord, Allow me to rectify some misunderstandings. We have made no allegations of aggression, nor given any reason to believe that the Garveyan settlers will be treated with anything but respect and amiability. Surely, erecting a defensive structure at a settlement cannot be seen as an aggression. Further, might I remind you that Eslandola too has laid claim upon islands already discovered and inhabited by Norsemen, as well as several indegenous people. However, you cannot expect us to tolerate officials from other nations or trade companies publicly slandering our Empire, making allegations of corruption, paranoia, or unprovoked acts of aggression. Especially not so, when the allegations are clearly unfounded in evidence. We have no wish to have our people roused to unreasonable unrest by sensational slander. The Corlander claims on Alicentia are perfect legitimate, and a group of independent, Garveyan settlers are of little consequence. As per the treaties in force, territories of New Terra fall under the jurisdiction of those who can press legitimate claims. Should you contest our claims, the claims of Oleon and Eslandola too will be voided, and we would have naught but chaos and war. As to the alleged accusations upon your honour, I did nothing but recount our policy towards foreign intervention, and expressed my concern with the well-being of your great Empire. How you choose to interpret such concerns is entirely on your own account. With all due respect Don Isaac Montoya, Lead Consul, New Terra- 897 replies

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Lord Damaximus, As a general rule, the Great Empire of Corrington values inputs from its allies and friends. However, we are not known to countenance interference in our internal affairs by revolutionaries, or even republicans. Before sowing doubts as to the legitimacy of our rightful claims, or making inferences as to our policy towards foreign settlers, I suggest you attend to the issues in your own little corner of the world. Sincerely Don Isaac Montoya Lead Consul, New Terra- 897 replies

There is an option in the license form to mark that it is an auction purchase. I suppose we just use that?

May 616 - Corrington's Escorted Trade Runs
Bregir replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Don't worry, Maxim. The heavy Corlander ownership saves you this month... ;) -
Dear Captains, The squadrons are starting to form, and we will announce them as they are ready. Each squadron will have appointed a commodore, who is responsible for managing the squadron, including which targets to attack. We suggest that you are not shy and attack at least vessels of a rating similar to the largest in your squadron. Currently, the following Squadrons are formed: Beta, Zone 6: Charging Stallion (5LA) ESL (Kai) HMS Publius (5HA) COR (Bregir) Pineapples Revenge (3A) ESL, Commodore Faladrin Gamma, Zone 9: Armina (5HA) COR, Commodore Mike S HMS Pandora (5HA), COR (Bregir) Justicia (4A), COR, Bregir Ypsilon, Zone 4: Holders Secret (2A) ESL Elostirion Dark Narwhal (2A) ESL, GedrenY Ladys Revenge (2A) ESL, Commodore Capt Wolf Heavy squadrons are forming for zones 2 and 14, and we might have another light squadron for zone 3. Questions are welcome. Sincerely Mr. Robertson Assistant Undersecretary of Trade Further, the empires of Oleon, Eslandola and Corrington wishes to make the following announcement: To all privateers of the Brick Seas, In recent months, several privateers have attacked national fleets of Oleon, Eslandola, and Corrington in unprovoked aggression unfit for a state of peace. Even independent traders known as the Sea Rats have been attacked. This is a clear transgression of the basic rules of diplomacy, and cannot be tolerated. Reports mention attacks by Mardierian, Namerian, Carnierian, and Garveyan and the coalition demands that these and similar aggressions cease immediately. Should privateers still set sail to encroach upon our trade, they will be met by a powerful joint task force, which will not hesitate to attack privateers, national or independent. We hereby consider all nations forewarned, and consider actions of the joint task force entirely justifiable. Signed Representatives of Oleon, Eslandola, and Corrington

Another beauty by Captain Wolf! I really like your vessels, and how they depict the workhorses of an earlier age. As the heart of Eslandia, she has som very pretty curves, and the rigging is very nice too, and fitting for the ship type. I do agree that the lack of stern windows is a bit odd, but overall, I shall be happy to bid on her, should she be taken during the MRCA!

Points taken, KB. Although, as to speed, brigs were generally known for good speed and manourverability, and I think this one looks low and fast, so I will have to disagree with you there!
