Patrolling the Fields of the Arkbri Valley [WZ1: E7, High Council]
Gideon replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for the support! Now let's clear this valley from those linen-wraps!! Ooc: I agree that sloping sides of the canal probably would have been more realistic. However I don't think I have suitable pieces in dk orange...- 25 replies

Patrolling the Fields of the Arkbri Valley [WZ1: E7, High Council]
Gideon replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks! I like the amount of information it contains, but I'm wondering if "Ch4" is really needed to include? Including both warzone number and actual map square is probably a good idea, to be able to quickly identify which battle a build belongs to (maybe there will be multiple battles in the same zone?) and to be able to quickly identify where on the map the build is.- 25 replies

Thanks! Maybe that's why they are so scared and surrender so easily?- 25 replies

Fighting for the High Council at E7 A vast network of irrigration canals are providing water to the food production in the Arkbri valley. Not all of the crops have failed, but the increasing presence of soldiers from all factions have caused many farmers to have to flee and abandon their crops. Here, patrolling soldiers from Barqa have encountered a scouting band of mountain mummies who have been cornered against an irrigration canal and quickly surrender when their leader has been killed. (A suggestion for the next warzone if the High Council wins will be added after our PM thread/private forum has been established and this has been discussed)

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for the clarification. I assumed that this was the case, but I was not sure if all the new talents were aware of this interpretation- 272 replies

Wow, now we are finally starting to see what this whole Frozen Beyond thing is about (which is very similar to what I expected ). Very nice minifigure compositions and posing. Looking forward to seeing more of this story arc!

Book II, Chal IV - Kaliphlin Civil War (Results Posted)

Is it (as usual) ok to build the base of an entry in any shape as long as the total number of studs is less than the limit? For example with 32x32 = 1024 studs would also enable 25x40 = 1000 studs?- 272 replies

Very nice detailing and overall shapes of the build (as usual)! My favorite details in this are probably the round windows and the roof texturing.

Supporting the Council (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 17)
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Another great part of the story! I really like how Petera is fleshed out as a more complex character here and that there are not really "good guys" vs "bad guys" in this war, please continue that I agree that GoH should generally limit how powerful magic can be, so for example that individual magic users can teleport is fine but whole armies should generally be impossible imho. The same goes for very destructive magic, which I think should be almost not existing with some exceptions for extremely rare arcane magic like the spells which caused the elemental attacks in book I. The power of the magic used in the battles of Queenscross and the Wither Woods is quite reasonable however. All of this is because I think that regular medieval/fantasy warfare is much more fun than overpowered magic battles- 12 replies

Very nice shaping and structure of the tower I agree that combining the builds in a storyline is a great idea. -

Nice and unusual roof design UoP +1 -
This story is getting me more and more excited for every hint you are releasing! The yeti baby in the fur hat is such a nice detail

Nice mosaic work and fire effects

Nice windmill, but somehow it's the small house that intrigues me the most in this build

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
To avoid bumping the threads unnecessarily I will post the feedback here instead: UoP +1 for these claims. These claims are not in the thread, and "Life in Mitgardia" was already in the other MOC (more appropriately so). Regardless, UoP +1 for Hydrology: waves. UoP +1 for "Advanced Windows and Window Frames" (especially for the stained glass ones, but also for the arrow slits), as well as "life in Kaliphlin" (as claimed in the thread, not "life in Avalonia" as here). The ground looks more like sandstone/yellowish limestone than sand dunes to me however. Generally, I think it is good to post the claims when first posting the MOC. I don't think many of us go back to looking at threads we already commented on to see if there are claims appearing there. -

Nice mosaic, UoP +1 for that I also like the bookshelf. Small nitpick is that the window looks like it's about to fall out?

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
Gideon replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ok. My point was not primarily about photography, since this contest is of course not a photography contest. What I'm thinking however is that the judging should consider the presentation of the MOC (which should include a clean or digitally removed background, not a lot of furniture, random lego etc in the background at least). That does not require an expensive camera and a fancy lighting setup. -
Definitely UoP +1 for those claims, well done! (Don't know how I missed this one before, sorry for bumping the thread...)

Fun little landscape UoP +1.
