  1. Jeroenaa: I bought my falcon sets in 2004 (when they had done the "legends" re-release of the Black Falcons Fortress), so you were just not wishing for the right sets in your childhood
  2. You should sneak out of that attic dG and join us for real on some Swebrick gathering (no one really cares about people's real names anyway there...you will always be de Gothia to us ), and please bring some of your awesome MOCs!
  3. Wonderful job with a nice overall feel and a lot of great details, while still staying close to the spirit of the original!
  4. Really nice work with this one, I like the ramshackle look of the walls and the whole shape of the hut
  5. Sorry to hear about that NM, hope he gets better soon!
  6. I agree with the other comments, your "1980's style meets the 2010's style"-MOCs are a style of their own In this MOC I especially like the wooden structures and the snow and ice on the roofs and crenelations.
  7. As long as you don't make a MOC of Trian Burress flying to Avalonia, hunting de Gothia down and dragging him kicking and screaming back to Nocturnus
  8. Second that! The builds of de Gothia was the reason I joined GoH Once again, very welcome back dG!!
  9. Sorry about the nagging then, I know you've read my comment now
  10. Really creepy feeling with so few parts, good job!
  11. Thanks! Kaligem is not sometimes mentioned as the "Golden City" for nothing Thanks! I tried to come up with something to not make it a boring square wall with corner towers which I started with, it looks a bit weird with the towers almost touching but in the end I figured that the result was ok Thanks! Especially at the right angle I think the green tooths work well as cypress trees. I've tried to find a use for all those spare rings, and at last I came up with someting Thanks! I decided to make that shot along the river public in my photostream as well and put it in the post without spoiler tag thanks to your comment Just do it then! All it takes is a little inspiration and a lot less pieces and time than minifig-scale MOCing Thanks! The card was a last-minute edit so I think I'm going to try to redo it with some more worn feel on the picture (less saturation, maybe some of the speckling of the rest of the card). I also think I should use a broader "cartoon effect" which I used to get the "pen lines" at all the edges of the build. I sure can! Just not in the near future as I'm spending 12 h a day at work right now... I can do it at the same time as my adjustments to my build I mentioned above. Which picture do you want me to "cardify"? Any three other Kaliphlinians (Kaliphlinites, Kaliphlins, Kaliphliners?) who thinks this is worth +1 for microscale?
  12. Thanks! The pink flower arrangement was something I came up with at the last minute before finishing the MOC, needed something more on that roof and I really like how they turned out! Another time I think I'm going to use the same technique hanging from an upper-storey window, since that's in line with the Mediterranean feel I want my Barqa builds to have. Thanks! No, I did not have any natural light for these pictures...I used my usual technique of bouncing the flash off my white living room ceiling. They are very welcome to Barqa, as long as they keep themselves on the right side of the law (or bribe the right keepers of the law ) Barqans always have time to take a break and enjoy a show, and there is a lot of gold and silver to be earned for a good show! Glad that the storytelling was appreciated as well, I really liked the idea of a happy feeling with the blissful ignorance of looming chaos and horror On another note I'm really happy with my Ikea roller curtain backdrop, I havn't done any post-processing to this background...only roll down (well, after setting up the supports, cleaning the table etc etc...), point and shoot now!
  13. Nice build! However, I think you are claiming too many credits for this one. Regardless if there is a maximum limit (don't know if there is), I think that the more credits claimed for a single build the higher standards they should be judged by. That said, I'd be happy to +1 "Hydrology: waves" and "General building: minifig posing" without any further consideration, since I think your use of that water technique is well executed and that your minifig posing in this build is great. I also give you +1 for "Geography: oceanside", because I think you've done a good job with the feeling of the whole MOC I don't see any forced perspective in this build, and I don't think that just some differences in level of the sand qualifies as "sand dunes", at least not if it is also supposed to be a shore. Technically you've built sideways rocks here, but when you claim this many credits I want to see more than just a SNOTed slab to give you +1 for showing mastery of that technique.
  14. Excellent fire effects, and that seal design looks really evil Great job!
  15. That building almost looks Kaliphlin, but probably the environment is a bit too green for that Another time, try to position the build so you can take the picture with the backdrop filling the whole picture, or at least a large enough part that any non-backdrop areas can be cropped away.
  16. I like how you've told so much of a story using different versions of this build. Looking forward to the continuation of the story when the time comes Didn't notice that at first, clever technique!
  17. We found that out with the community build I participated in as well...I think the solution is to only use pins for sideways support, and to clamp the modules together with plates/tiles when arranging the display.
  18. Nice microscale ruin, different kinds of light gray works very well for this! I also like the base a lot with the curved pieces and the tiles Edit: +1 for microscale as well, even though I think you should write your claim here in the thread also.
  19. Simple and clever idea of a basic gate! (A small photography advice: it would look much better if you ironed the backdrop prior to shooting)
  20. I actually don't think that is so odd, that a layer of ice (sometimes in spectacular formations) forms on top of the water might happen in nature as well. An example from Google:
  21. Well, no one except perhaps peggyjdb or some other foreigner plays in his league anyway The simple answer is "when I get around to it", the castle is not in great shape since the less than mild dismantling of the exhibition and is also really dusty from the crazy amount of dust all of you visitors produced in such a short time. But I have to get it in shape (and modify a couple of the modules for better transportability) before Lego World in February so I hope to get that done as soon as the challenge 2.1 deadline is past. So maybe some GoH-ification and photography of an old build might happen at the same time. At least I've got a white 160 cm wide Ikea roller curtain which might be needed then
  22. So you're also trying to back down a bit on the size ambitions? I burnt myself a bit building that Swebrick castle so now I'm sticking to max 32x32 for a while
  23. Nice build and minifigure posing, and I like how you create interest in your coming story by posting a cliffhanger here!
  24. Nice facade of that house, and I must say that a dog-pulled mobile grindstone wagon was innovative! A small room for improvement is that the gaps between the roof plates are showing a tad to much for my taste, a layer of black plate behind the gaps would remove that problem in no time
  25. Nice action you've got there! I think your photography would benefit from more light not coming from the flash of the camera, but otherwise I think these pictures look better than before. Is it another camera or just used in another way?
