I'm wondering if we are going to possibly be returning to Police sets stylized like those released from 2008-2011. The reason I wonder about this is that in a Ninjago set released just this month, 70591 Kryptarium Prison Break, reuses the police torso from that time period in the security guard. That torso hasn't been used for 5 years, and it's the first time to my knowledge that Lego has reused a police torso after such a significant time has passed. Especially since the Police style was updated for 2014. In addition, there is a Lego Dimensions pack coming out in the future sometime that features Chase McCain from the Lego City Undercover video game for Wii U. The police in this game are stylized exactly like the 08-11 sets (and thus, use the same torso), with a good amount of the 08-11 police sets existing verbatim in Undercover. The printed 1x2 tile in that Dimensions screenshot is also identical to these earlier sets. Granted, this is probably a very an unlikely scenario, but I think these two facts can't be ignored.

I think it'll look a bit better once I modify the front where Lego replaced the two small-ish side guns and put in those silly spring loaded missiles and made that whole area way too big. I like the ship in the show and in pictures, but I think the designer did a poor job of converting it into Lego form.

Jang uses this argument a lot in his videos, that for kids, X is an awesome set, and I generally agree with him. 95% of the sets he reviews, a kid could go out to their local Wal-Mart, Target, or Toy shop and buy right now for a reasonable price. But when you have a $250 dollar price tag on a product that can only be bought online or in an official Lego store, you're kind of not targeting kids anymore, at least from a marketing stand point.

I was debating 75096 Sith Infiltrator and curious as to people's opinions on it. Kinda on the fence about it since I can get it for ~70 USD from TRU. -
When I went to pick up the Brick Bank during the last few days of double VIP points just recently, my Lego store had 60051 pulled off the shelf and had it on that little "clearance" area that Lego stores have for 119.99 USD. I wasn't planning on buying it since I just got 7938 from Bricklink this year, but for the sale price + double VIP, I couldn't resist. Seemed a bit early for them to start moving them off the shelf; hopefully it's a sign of things to come. Or they just needed the shelf space for other sets and I'm just reading into it too much.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to accomplish by posting here. Not everything Lego does has to be absolutely adored or agreed with by everyone, but you seem pretty intent on trying to convince us why we should be happy and grateful that Nexo Knights even exists. Just because a set vaguely resembles a castle does not mean that Lego is catering to Castle fans. It's quite clear that fans of Castle, as in the theme defined by Brickset, want something that is not Nexo Knights, despite whatever qualities you believe it has that are better than traditional castle. Otherwise, this thread would not be 18 pages long, even though it's obvious we are not getting a traditional castle theme anytime soon.

Dunno, I've always liked the older style, and I just don't buy the usual argument that it's not very realistic. If I wanted realistic, I wouldn't be buying Lego. However, these new wheels really don't fix that problem. You can see in the photos of the gas station that the smaller wheels still stick out past the fender on the street sweeper and especially so on the dark red car.
-
Looks like I'm in the minority about this, but I really dislike the new City sets, except for the park and the airport set with the red and orage planes. They seem to be getting more and more junior-ized/chibi and I really disagree with the direction they seem to be heading. I also dislike the new wheels that they are using, particularly on the limo and the dark red car. I find it really weird that the 2016 Fire sets use the old wheels still while these are going with the newer style.

Went on a bit of a buy spree picking up sets that are (possibly) on the verge of retiring. Got 75055 Star Destroyer, Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon, Anakin's Customer Jedi Starfighter and the TRU combo pack that includes The Ghost and the Phantom. Still need to grab a B-Wing and possible the Jedi Scout fighter within the next week or so and then I'll be done for a few months. At least until Amazon has discounts on the new sets!

So I bought the 2 in 1 pack that includes the Phantom and The Ghost from Toys R us today on a whim for $95 USD +tax because it seemed like a decent deal. It was also the last one. I'm a fairly casual Star Wars Lego fan and it is not a theme I regularly buy sets from. The sets that I do buy are generally ones that either have Phase 1 clones in them or are single fighter space ships (_-Wings, TIEs). As someone who has never seen Rebels and probably won't anytime in the near future, will I enjoy these set or should I return it? -
To me, the problem is that Lego is not being consistent with their scale on vehicles. The 6 wide car in the Police pursuit looks like it would absolutely dwarf the fire car in the Fire Station. They also did the same thing in the previous wave in 60045, which was just a massive truck compared to every other line in the series.

Wow. I think I'll be skipping most of these except for 60112 Fire Engine and bricklinking the two vehicles from the fire station. A lot of the police sets look awful, especially 60128. Might as well just buy some generic toy car and truck from the dollar store instead of that set. Dare I say I see hints of juniorism in some of these sets? Thanks for posting these.

Just received my sealed 7938 Passenger train that I ordered from Bricklink for basically MSRP + shipping, so I'm very excited about that.

I agree, sails are absolutely number one considering they tend to cost at least $10 USD to replace one, if they're even available. Hull pieces as well. I got the Pirates promo this week. Slightly irate since mine has a noticeable crease in the top right hand corner. I suppose that's part of the risk you take when ordering from S@H though. -
I really like the ruins you built, that's a fantastic idea. Great layout!

Lego has also done an Air Ambulance before as a promotional set. http://brickset.com/sets/2064-1/Airline-Promotional-Set

This is spot on. I don't remember where I found this, but I remember reading that someone from Lego directly stating that the Lego Legends line sold poorly. I tried googling for a source, but 99% of the results when you google Lego Legends involves Chima. I would say that waiting to buy whatever set just in case they release it is futile. The closest Lego will ever get to re-releasing a set would be in cases where they release a new version, e.g., what Lego does for Star Wars, like the 2000 UCS X-Wing and the more recent 2013 UCS Red Five X-Wing.

Of course Lego would release another Ambulance plane right after I finished bricklinking 2064! At least it wasn't very expensive and I do like the model. With regards to the police, I'm hoping that they have a new livery. I haven't really been a fan of the Elite Police or the 2014 police liveries. I think it's about time they go back to black and white instead of blue and white though.

7898 (Green City Cargo Train) 7939 (Yellow City Cargo Train) 60052 (Blue City Cargo Train) Emerald Night Horizon Express Maersk BNSF I really regret not doubling up on the creator trains, especially the Emerald Night.

Got 75039 V-Wing Starfighter from a grocery store for 11 bucks. Can't beat that.

Seems like a good enough set to pick up when it goes on sale, but I can't really justify it at $150 USD. The two flatbeds are kind of boring compared to 60052's and that helicopter looks atrocious.

Finally got in my Brick Bounty that I ordered during the double VIP points event. Only need to pick up the three medium sized sets within the next month. -
How do you control your spending & what do you collect
Yeow replied to Seeky's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I collect mostly city sets. What I've been doing lately is Bricklinking parts of the model that I want instead of buying it outright. For example in 60026 Town Square the only thing I really wanted in the set was the bus and the statue. Why spend $120 USD on that when I can buy a sticker sheet for about $4 and the necessary pieces for those two sections for significantly less than MSRP? It saves me both space and money, even if you do have to make a note of what parts you need, pay for shipping and wait longer to get a completed model. It's worth it in the end to me. Unfortunately, I don't believe this strategy would work very well for any other themes. -
Not sure if milking is the right word if people keep buying them. If the sales were bad, they would have lowered the price or have stopped by now.
