  1. I definitely agree with World City being the transition period. The 4 wide vehicles from then could easily have been Town era sets had they replaced the hood/roof cover with those hinged roof pieces with the sun roof in them that they used to use all the time. Jumping off of that, but I think we are also in the middle/end of another transition period with fewer 4 wide vehicles and a lot of vehicles being 6-10+ studs. 60143 Auto Transport Heist from the 2017 police line contains 4 wide vehicles, along with the main Police Station, 60141, but the other police cars are all 6 studs wide. We also have a new 6 wide car base that was released in 2017 that I suspect will start appearing a lot more in the future. I can't imagine they would bother creating a 6 wide base for just a few cars. Looking forward, the Mountain Police line contains several particularly large police vehicles, with the only 4 wide vehicles being buggy's/offroad vehicles. Most notably, 60172 Dirt Road Pursuit's main vehicle is technically a 6 wide build, but the extra large fenders + massive tires push this build into the 10-12 stud range of width. A set of this size also seems to have appeared in a Jungle set as well, 60162. It'll be interesting to see if Lego continues this trend forward.
  2. Not really impressed with this one. As much as I like the Detective's Office, it's small size was really disappointing, and this one looks smaller still. The change of heads is a shame, but that can be fixed easily. I don't think cars belong in the modular building series at all, as they simply take up parts that I think could be utilized elsewhere. Considering I own every modular building, I will still pick this one up, but if this is a sign of things to come, it's a bit troubling in my opinion.
  3. Seems really silly to me that they are putting out pirates, castle and space related stuff since neither of those 3 themes is in production at the moment. We haven't had a space theme since 2013...
  4. Is that the return of Teal (Dark Turquoise) in 41155? Because that sure looks like it.
  5. I'll probably only buy the police station when it comes on deep discount because I collect police stations, but I don't really like it, along with several 60170 Off-Road Chase because I want some police dirt bikes. Gonna do some extensive modification on that giant truck to make it not so wide. Non police wise, I'll probably get 60183 Heavy Cargo Transport, 60181 Forest Tractor and 60179 Ambulance Helicopter.
  6. I normally pick up quite a few Police sets as it's probably one of my favorite themes, but this just looks awful. That police vehicle seems to be almost 10 studs wide and absolutely dwarfs the police dirt bike! The body itself is 6, the fenders seem to add another 2 and then the wheels go beyond the fenders. If I were buying this set for a kid, I'd just pick them up some generic plastic police car that's about the same size and probably infinitely cheaper. If this set ends up being as high as $40 MSRP, I wouldn't even be surprised. Plus, do we really need 10+ pieces dedicated to launching a bolder? What happened to kids using their imagination?
  7. That police station is absolutely atrocious, and I say that as someone who always looks forward to and usually buys the newest police sets.
  8. I have no idea why, but one of the Walmarts near me also put nearly every set on clearance, including brand new ones. I got the Quadjumper for $35, CCBS Speeder Bike for $40, Phantom 2 for $17, U-Wing for $54, and the Blue Resistance X-Wing for $45, plus some clearanced 2017 City sets. Even the new Freemaker sets were on clearance, but their prices weren't nearly as good. This particular Walmart happens to be in a pretty sketchy neighborhood and routinely pop up on Brickseek as having sets like the TIE Striker or Krennic's Shuttle marked down to crazy low prices (sub $20).
  9. IIRC, the previous red cargo train (3677) was also retired before the main City cargo train of the day.
  10. You're not imagining it. Some of the folks at BZP have created a combiner database with links to instructions for all known combiners. Ctrl F "Inspirational Model #4" without the quotes and you'll find the one you're looking for. It's the last combiner in the 2003 section.

  12. Picked up the Rebel Combat Frigate for May the 4th. Amazingly, Lego had it on sale, which was nice because it's really the only set I wanted to get right now. Don't really care much for the polybag, I'll probably just leave it sealed and stored away.
  13. Doesn't really look like I'm going to be getting a lot of sets this summer, which is probably good for my wallet. I'm not really a fan of the overly large vehicles used in the Jungle (and Volcano) theme. Same with the large SUV in the Coast Guard theme, along with that giant aircraft nose Lego insists on using all the time. On the other hand, the bus station and the cargo terminal look fantastic and I will be getting those along with FATB.
  14. I got 8016 Hyena Droid Bomber MISB from eBay for $20 including shipping, which seems fair enough for a set that old. I also picked up 75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter from Target on clearance.
  15. When I moved almost 15 years ago, I lost my 6979 Interstellar Starfighter somehow. It's probably buried in a box somewhere in our closet (essentially attic), but it's packed pretty tight in there. My parents always thought I was imagining losing it, but I have the instruction manual, so it's somewhere out there.
  16. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll wait until May the 4th to order one from S&H to get whatever freebie they hand out this year, since I can get every other Star Wars set I want on sale from Amazon or elsewhere.
  17. Wanted to ask and see if I should pick up 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate. If Amazon sold it for less than MSRP like they usually do, I'd probably pick it up easily, but it seems to be exclusive to TRU/S@H and I've never seen it on sale.
  18. HothBricks has pictures of more 2017 City sets. I'll be picking up the Pizza Van and boat myself. Some of the others are nice, but I'm not a fan of the huge tires on some of the other vehicles. Makes them just a bit too big/lifted for my city. http://www.hothbricks.com/2016/11/nouveautes-lego-city-2017-sport-travaux-publics-pizzas/
  19. +1 on the Tarakava, they were the last 2001 Rahi I built and I was absolutely blown away by how good they were. Plus, teal is an amazing color that I wish Lego would bring back, maybe with Elves or something. I'm about ~20 sets away from finishing my G1 collection, but right after I finish I'm going to bricklink the Sand Tarakava, just need to look for the instructions/pieces first. The Nui-Jaga are probably the worst of the bunch. They're not really bad per say, they just aren't as good as the others. The Nui-Rama are pretty good and the Nui-Kopen combiner is fantastic as well. Muaka and Kane-Ra have a really nice build, and their head snapping function is great. I wouldn't dare snap the Infected Haus though! With regards to pricing, what I've noticed on eBay at least, is that prices seem to be on an upward trend ever since G2's cancellation was announced. New, sealed canister sets from 2005-2009 used to sell around $10-$25 USD about 6 months ago. Now, those same sets sell for anywhere from $30-$45. I don't buy used Bionicle sets so I can't say for sure if those follow what new sets are doing, but I would guess that they do. I sometimes look at the used sets to see prices and there seem to be good deals all the time, especially if you don't want canisters/instructions (which I do, hence why I tend to buy new). My best guess for the price increase is that a good amount of people are also trying to complete their collections in light of the cancellation. Overall, I'd guess that prices will eventually die down once Bionicle fades back into the shadow, but I can't say for sure.
  20. Posted this on Reddit, sorry if you read it already there. But as someone who usually buys a lot of police sets, I am not impressed by these at all. Several of these look extremely unfinished and the color scheme of some of the police cars looks really bad, especially the police car in the Auto Transport Heist. The mobile command center doesn't seem to have a cohesive design either. It looks something more akin to what a child might build with just the pieces in their limited collection. I'll reserve judgement until I see the builds, but the Speed Champion designs being used on police cars with a more limited City budget leaves something to be desired. I'm also scared about the prices of these, considering what's been going on lately with the price of the recent Octan Gas station. The only sets I'll be picking up are the Auto Transport heist for the police truck and the high speed chase set for Chase McCain. Hopefully that means something else is in the works in regards to Lego City Undercover besides the upcoming dimension pack. Also, what in the world is going on with the tail rotor of the helicopter in the Bank set, that looks awful!
  21. You own 786 items, 750 different. We have piece counts for 745 of them. You own 191744 pieces. We have retail prices for 694 of them. Their retail value is $21004. Top categories are Bionicle (209), City (134), Star Wars (81), Town (51) and Castle (36). Well that's a bit sobering. At least I can resell them in the future... >.<
  22. Seems to be live? I added Obi Wan's Interceptor and I can see a 5002123 in my cart which apparently is the number to Revan's last release. No images show up for either though.
  23. The colors and such tend to change, but it's not often that the leaks and final products differ greatly in terms of design. We can see that pretty clearly with the fishing boat for whom high quality, unmarked pics already exist that there are minimal, if any differences with the design.
  24. If you'd like to seem some weird colored fire trucks (or if anyone needs inspiration for a MOC) then you can check out this website that has a bunch of photos of emergency vehicles, mostly from the US. Specifically, if you go to the third page of the "Fire Trucks" section, there are pictures of fire trucks that are blue, green, orange or even black. Fire vehicles that are predominantly white are also fairly common, but I don't think a white fire truck would look good based on the restrictions that Lego designers are under.
  25. I agree with this completely. My hope is that Lego will see that trains are a popular item and will consider releasing more of them, provided that the Winter train sells well. In addition, if people enjoy the Winter Train a lot, it might convince them to buy more train items in general. I feel that trains are similar to modular buildings in a way; you can never buy just one, or you need something else to go with them. If you only have the Winter Train set, you'll probably want more track. When you have more track, you might want a freight train to go around your set up as well...
