HSS: Aden's Gate, Harbormaster and the Minik Akrebi
Mike S replied to Mike S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks for the comments everyone! All modules will be on permanent display. Aden's Gate is a multilevel town, the harbormaster and the inn (next module) are the lowest modules other than the beaches/bay. Thanks! I tried that but I thought it didn't look right, maybe too fancy... -
With all the renewed activity going on in Sultan's Gate, Bishop Jamon did not want to lose the opportunity to establish the Order of Aslan there. If he could secure one of the trade gates, it would help sustain the coffers of the Order. With such high stakes, the bishop himself traveled to Sultan's Gate to personally oversee this endeavor. He also brought along a small division of the Order's heavy cavalry to flaunt the Order's power.

Got one of Aden's Gate's modules posted: Link to topic is here. -
Dugal MacLean personally delivered the two ships Masa had ordered from the Eastgate shipyards as the fighting within Eastgate had not subsided. Masa was away at the time so Dugal was greeted by Gaius Kaleci who was now the harbormaster of the growing Aden's Gate settlement. A small vessel looking very much like a pirate's boat leaving the docks caught Dugal's eye. "Are those pirates?" he asked Gaius. "Aden's Gate is a neutral town, and as long as no trouble is caused here, no questions are asked. Should the law of Aden's Gate be broken, there is but one punishment- banishment. Depending on the crime the guilty are either banished to the Kaumatua Valley beyond that wall or banished from ever returning to Aden's Gate," Gaius replied his hand gesturing toward the massive ancient looking wall towering above the docks. "Basically crimes such as murder, rape and any other serious physical violence get the sentence of banishment to Kaumatua Valley while crimes such as theft receive the sentence of banishment from ever returning to Aden's Gate." "What happens to those banished to Kaumatua Valley?" Dugal was curious. "They most assuredly become a meal for the creatures that live in Kaumatua Valley. This is the only known entrance to Kaumatua Valley and creatures commonly known as wingless dragons, giant bugs, as well as some kind of monstrous black haired creature are what is rumored to live in the Kaumatua Valley. Only a handful of people have seen what lies beyond that wall, Masa probably being the most knowledgeable. When he is here in Aden's Gate he often goes into Kaumatua Valley for weeks at a time. Well enough of Kaumatua Valley, let me show you more of Aden's Gate," Gaius gestured to another building near the docks... (To be continued) Every level of the building can be accessed. Sewer tunnels run beneath Aden's Gate. The Minik Akrebi Crew of the Minik Akrebi

Thought I had commented on this already but I guess not. Really nice color combos used on this and the building styles look great! However the build makes me think more of the gate to an inn's courtyard rather than the gate to a large city.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Mike S replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There isn't anything that is required to catch up on and that is the beauty of GoH's simplicity. I probably have less time than you and I never get lost when I come back after a few weeks of absence. And I rarely go back and read old posts and topics that I missed when I was gone. If its not on the front page, I will probably never see it. I still think GoH should be more accepting of pirate builds. I don't know any Lego castle fan that doesn't enjoy looking at a good pirate build so I can't understand the line that seems to be drawn and I think the division really prohibits some great things from happening. But since I seem to be in the minority the best thing I can do for my cause is to start posting piratey builds for GoH and just ignore the flak I'll be getting. -

I've been having a real hard time searching for the older stuff on here as the search seems to be limited to the last two years while GoH has been around longer than that. Any way to turn change the search settings? -
Nice build and the tree looks really good! One thought though would be to add another leaf piece on top to help hide the black antenna....

Now that is a great idea with an underground river! Just one thought though, DaMax's Everlast is somewhere in that area isn't it? -

You are quite right about Gorr being a good location for Nasitadel as well. There used to be a small city on the shores of the lake. Not sure if it still exists or was destroyed by the elementals... The north eastern coast of Gorr is also a good location as a lot of water runs off the mountains and I'm sure forms rivers and lakes. Indeed congratulations Gideon! But robuko that makes 3.... Erynlasgalen has one as well. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Mike S replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Now this is what confuses me. Guns and cannons do exist in GoH already however they are not used mainly because of instability with the technology. And adding a pirate factor to GoH will force it out of medieval/high fantasy yet having oil fields does not? Edit: I'm not complaining about the oil fields in GoH, I'm just wondering why since Kaliphlin seems to be more technologically advanced than the other guilds, there can't be another guild such as Varlyrio that is even more technologically advanced than Kaliphlin. -

Also I've always imagined the eastern coast of Kaliphlin to be similar to Erynlasgalen's Wyndgardiam and I never really thought many ships traveled past Berigora. -

Well there are a lot of bays on the east coast as can be seen here around Okatowan. I think the main drawback of the east coast is its isolation. The only reason to visit the east coast would be to travel to Nocturnus and I have a feeling Nocturnus trade is more of a shady nature. IMO It would be more suitable for pirate hideouts than major trade cities as the Nocturnus coast is quite treacherous for ships passing for trade with Mitgardia. -

Well there are two problems with that location. First there are no lakes. Second, I'm not sure this is the kind of landscape that would support the kind of city he is describing. -

Not all of Kaliphlin's geographical attributes have been mapped out. I circled a spot on Kaliphlin's map that is empty and probably would be a possible location for your description: https://www.flickr.com/gp/78205735@N08/6Q66CY -
Looking good and I agree that is a brilliant use for the droid piece!

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
Mike S replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
The GNAR contest is up the end of May I believe. Thanks for the consideration. I still have not received the order and they said they would ship it last Monday. However the status wasn't changed until Wednesday. The bad thing is that this is my fifth order with this seller and I never had any problem before. Anyway I don't think that there is any need to give me a special deadline extension as the deadline was already extended before. I'm not really too good at competition builds anyway. And your and Gideon's gates are perfect for the gate, yours for the inside of the gate and Gideon's for the outside. I'll just say my gate is one of Sultan's Gate southern gates.- 63 replies

This is really great especially connected to the housing module! I can already imagine its imposing structure at the top of the escarpment.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Mike S replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
First off, I think your description is similar to how I already view GoH. I even tried adding a floating island concept to GoH. See here. Also GoH actually is more than one continent and more land/islands could always be "discovered": What I'm concerned about is that this project will temporarily cannibalize GoH since a lot of GoH builders are actually interested in Pirates so when this thing gets started they won't have enough time for both this and GoH. Even now with nothing else like this new "GoH" to steal their attention, guild leadership is fairly sparse atm. Being something new, I think that this will get a lot of activity the first few months while at the same time GoH will become nearly dead. I really don't see this and GoH running challenges at the same time. An idea that had been under consideration when leadership had been considering taking the GoH idea into other themes was putting GoH in freebuild mode while another themed "GoH" challenge was in progress. I think this is the ultimate solution not only for regular members but also to make it easier on leadership. -

Not that I know of. You have enough posts that you should be able to do just about everything except post polls. -
Glad to see you back here in GoH! I was afraid you had been kidnapped by the sci-fi forum people.

To have a location officially recognized, follow these guidelines. Other than that you can always make up a location but if nothing really is built there it most likely won't make it onto the official map. We have a map of Kaliphlin on the first page of this thread. If you have questions about geographical features, a lot of information is in the wiki or you can just ask.
