Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Mike S replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
My entry to the Providing MItgardia with heating oil challenge: here -
The accusations certain Mitgardians were making against the Kaliphlin nobility did not go unnoticed by Masa. So to teach them a lesson, he decided to play a prank on them when he personally delivered Kaliphlin heating oil to Mitgardia. For the prank, Masa used a confiscated pirate dinghy and a small trade cog fitted out with black sails and loaded with Kaliphlin oil. The captain of the trade cog even donned an eye patch to play the part of a pirate. Kaliphlin Captain dressed as a pirate by -Mike S-, on Flickr The two ships then sailed for Mitgardia. To be certain his prank would not turn into a deadly matter, Masa avoided the heavily traveled shipping lanes of Mitgardia and took the oil to a small trading post in northwestern Mitgardia. At least it was built for GoH! However gray/green palette can be used for Kaliphlin too. My Aden's gate build is gray/green palette but definitely Kaliphlin. Type of green foilage makes a big difference. -
Nice build and funny story (the ending)!

I always wondered why you Mitgardians jingled when you walked. Now I think I know. You keep all your pots, pans, and kitchen utensils as well as anything else you think you may need stored under your coats. Am I jealous? Nope. -
Nice! And that palm tree looks really cool!

Ahh I see they must understand Mitgardian salesmen confuse taking a loss as making a profit so buy our oil back at a mere fraction of what the Mitgardians paid for it. Looks like we need to send some Mitgardians to our schools and reprimand our Kaliphlin embassies for taking advantage of these poor Mitgardians. -

Stinky oil? From our Mitgardian sales, I was under the impression you guys had mistaken our oil for the best smelling perfume... -

Unfortunately Mich didn't get elected so the majority of poor Mitgardians seem to still have no way to keep warm. -
Nice story and portrayal of Kaliphlin! Nice to see so many Kaliphlin characters together.

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
Mike S replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
I really don't see the need for free-build points anymore. It really detracts from my building incentive to just have a bunch of builds that are just built to get points. I thought the whole point of the Sultans Gate project is to start visualizing places in Kaliphlin and if we have fifteen totally different looks for the same gate it just doesn't set right in my mind. So I am totally for canonization of locations.- 63 replies

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
Mike S replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
I like the idea of the transfer camp. Yes I imagine the South gate to be as fortified as the North gate as it would make the North gate almost useless if the city could be captured with only a small effort from the south. I've made the walls on my entry 16 studs high as they do not have the security of the escarpment.- 63 replies

I highly doubt it and because we Kaliphlinians aren't prejudice (unlike certain Mitgardians, no name calling here ), we don't paint the entire Mitgardian population as troublemakers and therefore if you treat us Kaliphlinians with respect we do the same to you.

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
Mike S replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
Upon seeing and reading about planned builds, I'm considering changing my entry to portray the South gate instead of the North gate to keep builds from being "wasted". Robuko has done a fine job with the inside view of the North gate and Gideon seems like he is going to portray the outside view which I'm sure will be just as brilliant as ever, so instead of competing and "wasting" builds, I'm thinking that other entries can represent other gates of the city. As the road travels through the city, I'm not sure referring to the North gate as the main gate would entirely be accurate as the South gate would be used just as much unless the majority of the trade ends here.- 63 replies

I am not sure why these events are so surprising to these wimpy Mitgardians. We citizens of Kaliphlin must deal with such pirates and bandits everyday. Bandits and pirates have always been a problem in Kaliphlin and while under the rule of Dextrus Flagg their numbers were greatly reduced, their numbers seem to be rising once again as they take advantage of the jurisdictional borders of the Kaliphlin Council. We Kaliphlinians applaud the harbor master for ridding Kaliphlin of these troublesome pirates. It must be noted that the flag bears proof that these pirates are not of Kaliphlin nobility for they did not fly the dark blue flag.

Nice brick built boat! However, to tell you the truth the scene makes me think more of Kaliphlin than Varlyrio.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Mike S replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
This has nothing to do with who is the best guild.... We already have that established (its not Nocturnus). I may have been wrong about this being an "if" war. This is turning out to look more like a Historica arms race. -

Well then, looks like I need to start cracking the whips on my shipbuilders. I have had 4 in dry-dock for the last two and a half years but wasn't in any hurry to finish them. -

You didn't forget about Gabe, Sebeus, Damaximus, and wasn't there one or two others in Kaliphlin now did you? -

Posted by kabel: ähm sorry, accidentally hit the edit instead of the quote button What Masa said was: that this was an if war, so no flowers would be spoiled that he doubted Mitgardia had the largest fleet that he offered MK the Kaliphlin citizenship @Masa: feel free to restore your old post, sorry fo this!
