  1. One set I'd love to see is the Flight to the Ford. Arwen (with new sword), Frodo (with a new piece enabling him to share a horse with another rider), Asfaloth and two Ringwraiths. I'd love to have a brick-build scenery and a play feature that lets you pop up watery horses that can launch the black riders.
  2. Thanks for compiling the images Dr.Cogg. I would prefer a minifigure Sauron over a brick-build one. I certainly like the idea of having a slightly enlarged minifigure such as Woody. As for Lorien, I think the set will be exactly like that but with the potential addition of Galadriel's mirror. While Bag End and Orthanc looked different in their final versions, Helm's Deep, Elrond's Council and the Black Gate were near 1:1 equivalents to the video game versions. Lorien certainly looks like a perfectly viable set, although I hope it may include some more details to capture the movie feel. The set appears roughly the same size as Elrond's Council (possibly slightly larger) and could thus come with four or five minifigures. I am looking forward to Galadriel!
  3. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing, Master dwarf. I hope that "soon" might refer to this very week.
  4. Thanks! I did not know. The Brick Forge swords looks like a two handed weapon, as well, unfortunately. But I'll keep an eye on that website.
  5. He was part of the second downloadable character pack. Aside from the bow on this picture, you could equip Gorfindel with an elven sword. I think it was white instead of the usual golden colour. I really dislike those swords, though, and would prefer the one-handed elven sword based on the blade carried by Elrond (second age) and Arwen in the movies. After all, the LEGO elvish blades only appeared in the SA battle.
  6. Building instructions are now available. For instance, Council of Elrond: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6053112.pdf
  7. Thanks! I've never ordered there. Does anybody know how long the shipping usually takes?
  8. I got them (LotR sets) late May last year. I saw the Mini Modulars in Meyer Macquarie Park today.
  9. I think Lorien is a given. We've already seen it in the video game (which had the exact versions of the Black Gate, Weathertop and Imladris). It would also create the option for unique figures. Lady Galadriel, of course, but also Celeborn and possibly Haldir in his cloaked outfit. Add Frodo and the mirror, and you have a nice 40 US$ set.
  10. I'd LOVE this as an exclusive minifig! I don't care what he would come with: book, DVD, blu ray, polybag, a new car... you get the idea. Shouldn't be that expensive to produce, either. Legolas'/Haldir's hair works just fine, so just a new print and he'd be ready to go.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
  12. Here is a nice written review of the Council of Elrond: http://www.brothers-brick.com/2013/05/28/the-lord-of-the-rings-79006-the-council-of-elrond-review/ I also have a little request: Would anybody be able to upload a picture of Elrond for my avatar, please? I'd love to have one in the exact same style as now but with his serious face.
  13. Hi guys, I have been unsuccessfully browsing Bricklink for pieces to create one of my favourite characters in the Lord of the Rings. Given that many of you are experts in Historic Themes, I was hoping that somebody might be able to help me out. This is a picture of Glorfindel as he appears in the LEGO Lord of the Rings video game. I have the hair and head and surely could find a dark blue cape, but I couldn't find anything that even remotely resembles the torso and legs. I would greatly appreciate any ideas and suggestions! Cheers, Michael
  14. Has anybody seen the new Lord of the Rings sets yet?
  15. I didn't know it was that old! I'm on the fence regarding it as Smaug. It looks very un-LEGO-ish by being a very large molded figure. If I would see it for the first time, I'd think 'cheap plastic toy', not 'LEGO'. On the other hand, I generally dislike brick-build figures.
  16. This might be an unfortunate example as 'fishes' is certainly a viable word when referring to fish taxa (e.g. freshwater fishes, fishes of the world). I hope that one of your guesses is correct! Beorn's House could be terrific. Do you think LEGO would use the red dragon from the recent Castle line as Smaug?
  17. Great review! I won't buy this set (solely collect Lord of the Rings) but voted "Fantastic!". If I were a Castle collector or 25 years younger, I would love this set to no end. Fair price, two minifigures for each faction that offer multiple ways to create variety in your armies, lots of gold and jewels, and even a dog - cannot ask for more than that! Educational toys indeed. oo7, you should review set 79006, The Council of Elrond, and talk about anthocyanins, carotenoids and xanthophylls.
  18. Thanks for the chain/ cape clarification, Just2Good! Unexpected Gathering and Elrond's Council are my favourite display sets of the Middle Earth line.
  19. He promoted himself on page 141. :) But no harm in double-posting since it's a really good review in my eyes. The one thing I've missed in all reviews for this set is some mentioning of how the figures and their capes fit on the chairs. From the pictures it does not appear to be as cape-friendly as Saruman's 'throne', but it would be nice to know for certain.
  20. Target at Macquarie Park, Sydney. They had all sets as far as I could tell, and at least 10 Cavalry Builder sets. 20% off on all LEGO, too.
  21. Target Macquarie Park has all Lone Ranger sets at 20% off.
  22. Thank you both for the reply! I went out and got the set at 20% off. The legs and heads are useful, and of course, the white horse as Asfaloth (or Snowmane or Shadowfax) is an excellent addition to Lord of the Rings.
  23. I'd like to get a set of moveable legs for Arwen. Can anybody tell me with 100% certainty if the colour of Arwen's dress is the exact same as that of the Lone Ranger's Cavalry legs?
  24. That's what I thought, too. Then I watched this review: Looks like the gate comes apart rather quickly. The tower is only attached a the bottom. A second pair of techinc pins further up may have been useful.
