  1. Would the new Nexo Knights stuff belong here, or in another sub forum? Even though they are obviously Castle inspired, they seem to be Sci-Fi too.
  2. Or the Lego Movie. I had a field day pointing out all the parts that weren't in production colors, and some that out and out did not exist.
  3. Maybe we could have some kind of unlimited class for trucks with modified/3-D printed parts, and third party tires or controllers. But, no matter the class, the only motors allowed would be original, unmodified Lego motors. That would be interesting, yes?
  4. Maybe somebody should build one of these instead: Kress Truck:
  5. My user number does not correspond to any set, at least by itself. Ignoring the last digit, I'm 2282
  6. That means that the last axle would be entirely passive, only moving at the trailer moves. I think it is done by varying the caster of the wheel, such that it is negative, and effectively behind the wheel. Most vehicles have it the opposite way, because negative caster makes steering difficult, but in this case is exactly what we want. As the trailer steers, the wheels are inclined to steer, based only upon the friction of the road. Personally, I think that is one are you deviate from the real world, and make at least the last two axles steer with a servo.
  7. Yeah, the Tumbler tires fit a dragster a lot better than any street or supercar, because they are base on real off road tires. I've got four, but I have yet to find a good use for them...
  8. Here's the thing, neither of those trailers would be something used with the Arocs, and they require a fifth wheel connection, something the Arocs does not have. At most, a real truck like 42043 would have a flat or drawbar trailer, so that it could tow a backhoe or small excavator. I haven't seen any specifically for the Arocs, but there have been many made for a truck of that scale.
  9. What dimensions are you using? Since this is a practical project, you might want to make a robot that just drives around. Several have been shown on this site and others, which would eliminate several problems. Also, yes, link tracks are a type of Lego caterpillar tracks.
  10. I think you could use Lego link tracks instead of timing belts. The larger ones are quite durable, and inexpensive.
  11. All this talk about crab and sausage rolls makes me hungry, can we please stop? I know we'll get pics eventually, so I'm going to keep myself busy with another contest...
  12. That is one serious truck. Looking at it, I can't help but think of a Nicolas Tractomas: I think you are a worthy competitor for my entry.
  13. NOOOO, STOP, HOW DARE YOU?!? Is the piece just a spacer, or do you need it to work with pins? If it's just a spacer, I'd say 3D print it. Much better than sawing up a precious Lego piece. But, if you need the holes to work with pins, a 3D printed piece could work, although the quality could be hit or miss. Since it's your printer, you can try things out. But, if you're in a hurry, cutting the piece would be best. If you go after a six long half beam, and do it right, you could end up with two 3L half beams, which I think would be best. My personal solution when it comes to mundane things like this is to work the model out so that I don't need any new pieces. But, ultimately, the decision is up to you.
  14. I'm going with no. Thing is, I think the Magnus Effect is just too small, even for that thing.
  15. That's very intersting, I never would have thought that Lego would do a coaxial helicopter with that many blades at all. Shame they could not include any kind of pitch mechanism. How complex does the swash plate look?
  16. So, is the helicopter more like a Kamov, or more like a Chinook? It sounds as if there is some confusion of terminology going on here.
  17. Can we get a link to the images,so we can draw conclusions? Or, is this just a dealer catalog?
  18. Oops, I was being serious, I only found out after I posted that that it was a fake. Now, I should have looked at a higher res version of the image, and I would have found that out too. I apologize for posting misleading images and information.
  19. I found a possible leak while browsing the interwebs, specifically a youtube screengrab, but take this with a few grains of salt. If you want to see it, just click the spoiler box, then click the link. It's a megabluckin' Bohrok! Except not. After I posted this, I found out that this image is fake. I apoligize for misleading anybody. On cursory inspection, and my phone's small screen, it looked real enough, but it's fake. Ehh, maybe.
  20. I would not think that gearing up, then gearing down would actually do anything. If gearing up adds stress to a U-joint, and gearing down removes it, if you gear up and then gear down, you get a net reduction of stress of zero, just like you get a net zero change in speed. Or, do I have this wrong?
  21. Come on, somebody broke the silence already? Ah well, all we can do is be patient. Edit: Actually, in addition to being patient, here's something to think about. I just noticed that NK's excellent Predator Supercar only has about 1800 pieces, which I don't think would correspond to a $330 dollar set. Indeed, 42030 has 1600 parts, but has the giant bucket, so a full RC version of the Predator would be about the same price. I'm thinking that, if the Ultimate IP Car really is a $330 set, it would be along the lines of one of Sheepo's smaller creations, with maybe around 2200 parts, and six PF motors. But, only time will tell if Lego is actually willing to do a full RC car.
  22. Could you maybe upload them, and link to the folder? That is allowed, and I'd like to see them.
  23. i personally dislike the air launchers, as they are often really unreliable. My favorites would be a tie between the Zamor Launchers and the Midak Sky Blasters. But, I think the zamor launchers win out because there are so many ways to add on to them, and they can be motorized as well.
  24. That would be because they are. I seem to recall the Toyota stuff being perpetual also rans in NASCAR.
