  1. Aww yiss, this is awesome. Although, the color is a little bright for a post apocalyptic vehicle, but on the other hand, it makes it three times faster.
  2. Useless parts. by Saberwing007, on Flickr All of these parts. I say that some single mold and specialized parts have their place, these ones do not. Not a one of these parts does anything that other existing parts can't do better. A number of them are from the Juniors line, which I do not understand. Would it kill Lego to use the molds they already created for Jack Stone and that stuff?
  3. Excuse my skepticism, but I don't think an OEM like Airbus would do something like this, unless you were able to show them something really promising. Likewise, Bright Bricks do mostly Legoland style models, and not technical things. But, if, and this is a big fat if, you were able to get those guys on board, good for you.
  4. Oh yes, I hate it when people ask pointless questions, or make WIP threads with not a single picture, or physical brick. I also hate in when people post a thread like "Mcpherson Suspension", and then just post a question about good ways to create it. I have not been here that long, but looking at other forums, there are surprisingly few threads about MOCs, or ideas, and a lot of dumb questions that could be answered by either searching the site, or using Google. In this day and age, an answer to most any question is a Google search away, unless the subject is really megabluckin' obscure. The only time I have ever asked questions on this forum is when my Google-fu failed me, or I needed to pick the brain of someone with more experience. Asking questions is fine, but please don't ask simple questions, when you can find the answer yourself. We've got a thread on what's a good set to buy, maybe we also need a request thread, where people can ask about various mechanisms, and discuss technical problems. We could also have a "new to the Technic forum" guide or some such, with frequently asked questions, and links to large threads where questions like "What set should I buy?" or "My set does not work correctly/ I have a broken part" can be answered without creating extra threads. I think some guidelines on how to make good WIP/Teaser threads would be good as well.
  5. Looking good, although I think you could have an air tank, to get faster flipping action.
  6. Actually, no. The way it works is that the motors have to be controlled independantly, and it would function like as follows. Let's call the motors motor A, and motor B. The adder system would have four modes: Motor A only Motor B only Motor A with motor B Motor A against motor B However, I have tried to implement a system like this, and failed. All too often, if the wheels on the vehicle got stuck, then the motors would merely drive each other. To do what you want, I'd recommend either an automatic gearbox, or a CVT. I have seen both ideas, but I cannot link to them right now. When I get to my computer at home, I'll post the links.
  7. This assembly is technically an adder, which is also discussed in Sariel's book. Basically, it would split the difference between the speeds of the two motors. But, there are some problems. The motor is an M motor, not an L motor, neither motor is connected to the frame, and the 24z gear cannot mesh with the differential. An adder can also, at least in theory be used as a type of virtual gearbox.
  8. ?? Might the piece you want be like a spoked wheel, where each spoke is spring loaded? That could be interesting.
  9. Y'all muthatruckers don't know nuthin about military trucks. One of my major obsessions is these kind of trucks, especially the weird, experimental ones. For instance: XM376 Cook Brothers T1 LeTourneau T4 Mack T8 Speaking of LeTourneau, that company also built the very weird Overland Train The M65 Atomic Cannon had another kind of double ended tractor configuration for movement. Lockheed Twister and XM-808. Both Vehicles are articulated, and have steering. The two above vehicles were never adopted, but later led to the Lockheed Dragon Wagon (Not to be confused with the M25 Dragon Wagon.) In turn, the Dragon Wagon led to the recent Oshkosh LVS, used by the USMC. Take your pick, the LVS has an amazing number of variants, as it is modular. The front unit actually is driveable on its own, and can be connected to any of a number of rear modules. That could be an interesting feature to implement. Then, of course, there is the Oshkosh M1070 HETT Also produced by Oshkosh is the PLS, the M1074 and M1075. My favorite is the M1074, because it has an additional crane just ahead of the flat rack. Similar to, but distinct from the M1074/5 is the LVSR, the replacement for the LVS And, of course, where would any list like this be without at least one mad Russian truck? Then there's... whatever the heck this is. And an experimental U.S. Marine Corp vehicle that I could not find the name of. It's called the BARC 3-X And one last bit of madness from Uncle Sam: the Sterling T26. I know it's not a truck, but rather cool nonetheless, the Swedish UDES-20 I tried looking up some concept military trucks for you, but all of them were much lamer than these real ones! It just goes to show you that sometimes that truth is weirder than fiction. I hope this helps you.
  10. Hmm, interesting. The reason why I asked is because the paint job you did was so good, I would have never guessed. Might you post a tutorial on how you got the color and surface to match the official Lego parts so well?
  11. Boo, rolling the shot in computer is cheating!! I really wanted to see what insane rig you'd use to do that. But, in all seriousness, this is once again an amazing video, and an amazing MOC. I actually hope to build it myself, but probably in a different color, as I have no light blue parts. Wait a second, where did you get those light blue 3x11 flat panels? Last time I checked, those don't come in that color. Did you paint them, or bargain with somebody in Lego? Or, is it another computer effect?
  12. I think, no matter what you do with the engines, you could not make a plane this big fly with just Lego motors. Since you're going to use non Lego parts anyway, I'd say avoid using Lego motors entirely. My recommendation is that you invest in some true pro grade RC motors, or even miniature jet engines, like those sold by JetCat. In my opinion, even if you had to use non Lego motors for propulsion, it would still be very interesting to see if you could get a Lego airframe to fly.
  13. Hmm, that sounds interesting. I actually have a proposal for you guys, specifically. But, I would like to do it through this site's PM system. The only thing on your end you would have to do is make ten good posts, and then I would be able to send you a message with an email address to contact me with. I am reluctant to post my email address publicly, as I am worried about spambots. For everyone, I have not really made much progress do to a combo of builder's block (Like writer's block, but for builders.), and real life intervening. I've been rather busy starting a new job, but I hope to start this project up again soon.
  14. I've found a couple on Brickshelf, by 2LegoOrNot2Lego, and Pipasseyoyo Personally, I like Pipasseyoyo's version better, and I have used a modified version on one of my trucks.
  15. Ebay is kind of useless, because you can't find parts that easily, and often times the sellers are malicious or clueless. (Not all of them, obviously.) Bricklink also usually has better prices than Ebay, so I personally only use Ebay to look for the rare thing that is much cheaper than Bricklink, or large mixed lots. Finding anything else is too much of a hassle. I do not understand why people are perfectly willing to use Evilbay, but not Bricklink, even though it is a well established site with a very good reputation, and then whine about not being able to find a part on Ebay at a reasonable price.
  16. I have both of these mentioned, and I love them! I originally got them to build a trial truck that I plan on taking on an actual off road trail, but I have not gotten around to building. Personally, I would say that these sets are Technic, and that Lego definitely has to make some true radio control stuff for power functions.
  17. Oh god, why? This makes my head hurt just looking at it. Well, at least the connection the model uses is not actually impossible.
  18. Are the pins with stop open all the way thru? As I recall, they are, so just stick a stiff wire, like a paper clip, in the end of the paper clip opposite the axle, and push. If this is from Sheo's excavator, could you please indicate wher in the instructions it says to do this, so a workaround could be created?
  19. Yeah, just because somebody is charging insane prices on evilbay does not mean that's actually what the thing is worth. I've personally seen somebody charging a $1.50 for bog standard 2l friction pins.
  20. Finally, I've got some pictures of this blasted thing in action: Album with pictures: https://www.flickr.com/gp/80022703@N07/G4U8Q4
  21. Well, it's blue, and it has cockpit steering, something that used to be common, but is now quite rare, even for flagship sets.
  22. I think you did a great job capturing this truck, especially at this size. Although, it almost looks big enough to have 2 L motors. If it did, that would be an absolute monster off road.
  23. I'd go with an XL motor, although a ratio of only 1:1.8 would make the truck awfully fast, so I'd recommend that you put a 3:1 gear ratio after the gearbox. Actually, with your gearbox, you're gearing up, making the output spin faster than the input, whereas with a truck you want the output to be slower than the input. That will give you more torque, and make the truck move better.
  24. I haven't had a chance to make a video yet, but I finally figured out what this thing is: a Recursive Gimbal. In theory, one could replicate the above .GIF in Lego, but even three was hard enough.
  25. This is awesome, could you maybe post a video of it in action? I'd also like to see some things on the other trucks, and that white 8043 looking excavator. By the way, welcome to Eurobricks. Just read up on some of the site guidelines and FAQs, and you should fit right in. By the way, where are you from? From your user name, I'd say Japan or China, but I could be wrong.
