Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
The anticipation of November is really getting to me. Both a new GoH challenge and the Colossal Castle Contest There are sure to be tons of amazing Castle builds -
Thanks Cara I'm definitely going to be using this technique quite a bit in the future.

The Settlers go to Historica – Part V: Bakery
soccerkid6 replied to Yooha's topic in Guilds of Historica
Another lovely build! I really like the colorscheme and the oven area is fantastic The door design in this build is my favorite so far out of your settler MOCs I also like the stepped windows in the bakery and the dormer. With every new Settler build I enjoy the series more- 8 replies

Definitely your best yet The ruins look much better here and I like the bits of snow on the ground. Hard to tell how the tree looks as we only get to see it from above, but I'd suggest changing the trunk so that it doesn't narrow so quickly. The third phase should have a building for the soldiers (a barracks), if you could include an interior that would be great

Can't wait to see what you build for Mitgardia Have fun at the LEGO festival -
As I said on Flickr this is one of my favorite builds from you yet, each individual element is excellent: the rockwork, the winding path, the carriage and horses of course, the castle, the micro trees, and the waterfall Together they form a wonderful composition. Keep it up

Feel free to go ahead, there's no deadline for this community build

After seeing your introductory post and vignette, I was expecting some good builds from you. This goes above and beyond my expectations. The rockwork in the first scene is terrific I really like the flowers as snow, and leaving a path where your character had walked is a great touch. Great tree design with those slopes, in green and white I imagine they would look very much like real pine trees. Also an excellent statue of the yeti fig. Very good story too, looking forward to seeing what else you come up with

Thanks, and welcome to Eurobricks Thanks for the kind words, Z. You may have a little trouble recruiting him to Nocturnus though, I kind of like the idea of him joining Mitgardia -

@The Yeti: Very cool fig and an excellent vignette Great to have you with us in the North -
A couple things really stood out to me after I had looked through the pictures on Flickr: You really captured the feel of a spike, everything seems very pointy I really like how you used grill bricks, they're not easy to make look good in a Castle creation, but here they work nicely; your rockwork looks very natural; the path that winds up the hill to the fortress is a great detail too. Overall a very impressive build and one that sets the tone nicely for all the Black Spire builds to come

Cool tree, some more leaves might make it look better, or adding some small white pieces to show snow on the branches. Also I like the use of wedge plates on the ground
-
As I said before I like the wooden racks that hold the quivers and the ground looks pretty good. And I do think if you made the 2 wide brick border more uneven it would look more like the ruins you were trying to portray

I really enjoy seeing Castle Collabs and this one is very impressive The layout works nicely and there are lots of great details

I've been planning this for a while, it should be my best build yet (you even inspired a section of it ). On another note, I've always been very impressed with how well you utilize what pieces you do have -
As others have said your new version looks much better I especially like the interior you added and the figs that are sparring have some great poses
-
Neat field and bush design The crates and barrels full of tools and produce add a nice touch

Thanks, and indeed the name was 'borrowed' from a real castle Thank you Thanks, and sturdiness/playability is one of the main things we try to incorporate into our builds. We aren't currently collaborating on anything, but we will definitely be doing some large collabs in the future (maybe even some in the near future) -
A lovely little house and a great tribute to MikeyB's work The layout of the building is quite attractive, I especially like the numerous rooflines. The windows throughout the build are excellent, the large first floor windows, and the little dormers peeking out of the roof There are many great details to appreciate, some of my favorite: the chimney 'cap', the little henhouse with plank to get inside, the board fence next to the road, and Elijah with his little stick This makes me want to build a nice Mitgardian cottage

Conwy Castle(built by my little brother)

Thanks! When I showed him his build on the HistoryBricks it made his day Thanks, and good suggestion for the water Thank you, he really like to use tan and dark tan in his builds Thanks Matthew! I'm looking forward to seeing what he builds in a couple years. This was built by my little brother. Here is a picture of one of my builds: (picture is also a link to the builds topic) Thanks Gabe. We don't usually work together on the same build. But we often are building at the same time, just each on our own build, so we do give each other a lot of feedback on builds as they're being built. I've been teaching him a lot of the stuff I learned in GoH Thank you, and as with most things starting young gives you a big advantage -
This was built by my 11 year old brother. Conwy Castle is his largest build yet. Kendrick and his companions marched their captives to the nearest castle: The lord of the castle is entertained by the jester who is juggling some pies: The great hall and kitchen The stables: More pictures here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=535252 He would appreciate any C&C

Well my free build is progressing quickly, just guessing, but I think it weighs upwards of 35 pounds now and there's still quite a bit left to build I'll probably be able to post it very near the beginning of November, depending on how my pieces hold out. Little hint as to what the storyline for the build will be focused on: Glorfindel's family (I realized I haven't really done anything concerning that yet ).
