  1. I thought the movie was fine. I liked most of the origin story changes, except for the changes involving the Kents (The twister bothered me, and I'm not sure what that accomplished in the grand scheme of things). In fact I enjoyed the origin section of the movie far more than the latter half (Which felt like there was too much jam-packed in there). I thought the entire movie looked a bit washed out. It was awfully bland looking for a comic book movie. But it did have some strong visual designs (Krypton looked good for a change). Honestly though my biggest problem was that I just didn't care for these characters. They were just underdeveloped to me and I had a hard time caring about any of them. I don't know, it just lacked emotion at times, and I just had a problem relating to these characters. Honestly this movie didn't do anything to make me hate it, but it didn't really do anything to make me love it either. I just feel indifferent about it (Which being a die-hard Superman fan is sort of disappointing). Maybe I'll like the next one. Hopefully they'll remember to develop the characters next time around.
  2. Really I don't see why they couldn't be making new leg elements. I mean they make new pieces at every opportunity they get. It's just a little weird that despite all the new heads, hats, hair and accessories they still haven't done any new leg elements. Well if this theme goes on long enough we're bound to see something. I also wouldn't mind a leg length between the normal and child legs. I really hope they release more pictures soon. I'm hoping the jazz musician is playing a saxophone (I would like a molded piece for this). In general I'm just excited about the possibility of a new instrument.
  3. It's not an MGM Oz specific witch. Also it's not the same shade of green (Which apparently when Disney made the recent Oz movie they had to consult their lawyers to make sure their shade of green was different enough from the MGM version). I'm also a little bummed that we're up to series 11 and still haven't seen any new leg elements (at least nothing impressive). I was sort of hoping to see the long legs piece used a few times. I was also hoping for a new dress element as that slope brick they currently use is a bit too repetitive for my tastes (Variety would be nice).
  4. Actually the wonderful wizard of Oz (The book) is in the public domain. So no license required. They just couldn't use movie copyrighted elements like the green witch or ruby slippers. Honestly I sort of wonder why Lego doesn't do more fantasy story minifigures as most of those stories are in the public domain. Some Wonderland themed figures would be neat.
  5. I have a few suggestions. A rec room would be a nice touch; couch, TV on the wall, some weights lying around. And a spiral staircase might take up less room. I've thought about doing something like this, but using the second configuration shown in the instructions, mainly because the square shape would allow me to bump out the floors quite a bit. Now if only I had the bricks to do that.
  6. Liking the scientist. A couple of new beaker colors is good and it's nice to have some diversity among the scientists in the Lego world. Evil Mech doesn't excite me. Odd how he has an upside down triforce printed on his armor. The Yeti looks interesting, I actually like it a bit better than most of the other monsters we've got. The Lady Robot is a mixed bag for sure. The head looks really good, but the printing on the body is sort of odd and not overly subtle (She has dials instead of breasts, oh Lego you so funny). And I'm not sure what's happening with the legs, what is the pink supposed to be? The welder is pretty spectacular, great printing, great new parts. Definitely a win all the way around. Hopefully the rest are revealed soon. I'm getting anxious.

  8. New pictures and videos are out for the Lego Marvel game. Specifically they showed a design for the mark 1 Iron Man suit. I really wonder why they didn't release that as an exclusive instead of 30167. It's really a pretty simple design actually. The design of Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic are pretty awesome. Honestly I feel like we'll see some of these minifigures next year. This years Marvel sets were pretty much all focused on movies and shows, so I feel like we'll definitely get some non-movie/TV stuff. After all the DC side gets non-movie/TV sets every year, it's only fair Marvel gets one or two. I especially believe we'll get a Fantastic Four set, after all the new movie is in production and it's unlikely that Lego will have rights for movie based toys so it only makes since that they'd make comic based.
  9. I totally agree. I mean yes the deck space is more limited and we have the non-canon cannon on the front but it has a better shape. And I prefer this brick built solution for the nose rather than using the same repeated piece. I only wish it were about $20 cheaper, and that they had included a couple of other figures instead of Jabba since we get him in the palace already (But I suppose I understand the logic of including him here too).
  10. Yeah, I'm a little mystified that they didn't bother to update him. They could have at least updated the printing. I wish they had updated R2's printing. I don't like the current print on him, it just doesn't look right to me.
  11. I'm sure in time we'll get those minifigures. We did after all get the Aquaman from the DC game, so I would assume they'd use the same designs from the game whenever they introduce a non-movie version of a character into the theme. And its probable that if the theme goes on long enough they'll probably end up making most of those figures. It will just take time.
  12. There are 3 parts. the first 30 minute part aired last night. 2 more will air in the future.
  13. The Yoda Chronicles was interesting. Seeing the summer sets up close and in motion really makes me like them a bit better. The barge looks pretty good. The weird thing is that they use the clone wars Yoda instead of the new Yoda we saw in the trailers (Although the new Yoda appears in the shot going to hyperspace, but I suspect that was an accident). Also a lot of what was in the actual short doesn't match up with the trailer we got months ago. It seems like they completely reanimated it for some reason... Very unusual.
  14. Honestly I think the problem with the superhero sets is quite simply that there's no definite direction for them to go. With movie sets like LOTR and Lone Ranger you have the entire universe summed up within a few movies. Ultimately Lego just picks different scenes to bring to life with very specific details and features. With the superheroes theme on the other hand they have a billion sources; comic books, movies, tv shows. So creating a definite detail oriented design can be hard to do when there are so many design choices possible. Also themes like Lotr and Lone Ranger have an advantage in that they have a very defined scope. With superhero based stories you have battles that take place across entire cities, mansions falling off cliffs, ships the size of cities. Which from a design standpoint are hard to cram into a certain price point. Ultimately the sheer size of some things hurts the design of sets. But I do agree that they manage large size sets poorly. It is odd that LOTR and Hobbit have had so many big sets. I suspect that perhaps contracts have an effect on this. Perhaps when they go to renew the theme they'll rework how many sets we get. I do excuse a lot of the problems with this theme for the sole reason that it is still very new. Perhaps when they have a more definite direction to go they'll improve build qualities. Or perhaps they just need to hire comic book obsessed builders to handle the builds.
  15. So would I. My point was really that if they weren't going to give us any other new characters than they might as well throw in some that they have in stock.
  16. Well you could always track down the sails from the old barge and swap them for the new ones. I'll probably end up getting the barge at some point because I missed out on the old one. I do wish we had gotten a couple more figures, at least they could have thrown in a C3PO to go with R2.
  17. I do like the colored in glasses. Personally the extra bit of color really makes it pop. I'm still hoping we get a Lois Lane like the one in the game. The Amy Adams one was disappointing to say the least. Hopefully we get a Daily Planet set in the future. After all we got the Daily Bugle, it seems logical DC should get it's resident newspaper made into a set as well. Plus we haven't gotten that many buildings/landmarks from the DC world that aren't Gotham related, so I'd think they'd start branching out at some point.
  18. If you're referring to the fact that it's a bar I wouldn't worry. A smaller set of it has existed in the past, so I see no reason we couldn't see a remake.
  19. It's just not that exciting. I mean the head is nice and gives us a Clark Kent head, a must have for any Superman fan. But the torso is useless considering it depicts something that is literally a second of screen time. Even worse we really don't have a normal suit that matches that torso, so in order to have just a normal Clark Kent you have to use an entirely different suit. And personally I would have rather have a minifigure that depicts a character as seen in the film it comes with. For me a side character like Vicki Vale or commissioner Gordon would have been a lot better (We just don't have enough civilian minifigures).
  20. Nope. No back printing either. The film itself is actually pretty good. But the best part about it is the many brick built buildings and vehicles. I'm definitely going to be reverse engineering a few things in the future.
  21. Well TMNT human characters have regular minifigure faces despite their stylized faces in the show, so I could believe we'd see normal heads for sets based around this new show. Plus with the amount of people that hate the clone wars heads I'd think Lego wouldn't want to do that again (Though I could be wrong).
  22. Correct, that is not Leia. And Lego obviously is not intending that figure to be her. They used Anakin's torso, obviously Lego was just using parts they already had in stock rather than creating anything new. Plus in the trailer that female padawan is made up of different parts, Lego obviously just didn't want to create new parts for such an insignificant character.
  23. For the force ghosts I would prefer glow in the dark minifigures. For me the glow was the more notable characteristic. I can live without the transparency, plus it would expose the inside of the minifigure, it just wouldn't look right.
  24. I would classify it as an instrument. It may be more prop related but I'd say it could easily be used for musical purposes. Somehow I imagine weird Al playing one... In my mind it's on the same level as a church bell or triangle, it would never be used alone in a song, but it could be used to give a song more variety (Thinking the church bell in viva la vida).
  25. I am definitely in favor of Teen Titans sets so long as they fit in with the rest of the superheroes minifigures (I'll have none of that weird head clone wars crap again). I could see a few sets for Beware the Batman. It would definitely be a good opportunity for some lesser known characters. Although after no sets for Young Justice it makes me wonder if we're going to get any show based sets for DC. I can hope though.
