Do we have any official confirmation on that? That looks like celebration Leia... I saw and I'm already having unpleasant flashbacks to 7257.

Padme has a new face and hairpiece, wasn't expecting that.

Hopefully they also decided to use different shades to differentiate them a little bit more, they're bound to be pretty similar as it is. -
The Legend of Zelda Project finally reaches 10,000 supporters

I share the feeling. Maybe if enough Zelda projects hit the 10K mark Lego will finally get the hint to make a theme. Who know's, perhaps Nintendo will want to branch out it's merchandising at some point in the future (Which currently really sucks). -
I wasn't originally going to get any of these sets, but the more I see of them the more I think about how much more shelving I'm going to need. At the very least I'll have to get the stagecoach, the turning mechanism is really impressive. Plus I just have a soft spot for western stuff.

I wonder if the new slave Leia will include a new face expression. I mean we do see Lego do that from time to time (Most recently for Han and Luke). It would be nice to have a new option other than the happy or angry we have now (A scared face would be fitting).

That's sort of a double standard isn't it? When the dagger of time isn't in Dastan's hand it's not the dagger of time, so by that logic Link's hat isn't his hat unless he's wearing it. If indeed the dagger can be used because of something contractual that's fine, I can accept that. But I think the argument can be made that the dagger of time sets itself apart from other Persian daggers more than Link's hat sets itself apart from other hats of that style. The dagger of time has the specific unique markings and a unique shape. Link's hat on the other hand is a long green hat. It has no distinguishing marks and it's shape is slightly different in each game appearing at different lengths and sizes (And in one installment it wasn't a hat at all but a beaked entity that never shuts up). Arguably Link's hat by itself though has nothing special that sets it apart from the hundreds you'd find at a Renaissance festival. Add in pointy ears and blond hair and it's a different situation, but by itself it has nothing to distinguish it's Link exclusive. But these two projects aren't the same, sure they both focus on Zelda but what they propose in set designs are very different. The fact is that they told us that just because that project didn't pass didn't mean another similar project wouldn't. So until Lego gives us a direct pronouncement that they will make no new molds I will let myself believe that there is a possibility that they might make one and that this set may pass the review. It was actually confirmed in an interview recently that Link was directly inspired by Disney's version of Peter Pan. And a hat in that style could work for a castle theme too, even with ears and hair it could still fit (After all how many fantasy based sets have we had that's involved fantasy creatures). And plus you never know what type of fantasy characters will crop up in the collectible Minifigs line (We had a plethora of fantasy type figs featured there already). Such a use for this mold would depend on what Nintendo says, but again I don't see them being overly strict about a hat. And in the case that they don't care if it's used than there's other places it can fit. -

That's fair to say, anyone who's a fan of something often expects more. On the flip side CUUSOO doesn't exactly dissuade wild fan dreams. The thing is that when 10,000 people get to together and say "We want this" it's sort of easy to get swept away in that and expect the best. The other thing is that it's hard to judge what they'll realistically do and make because we've only gotten a few sets so far. I think after more sets are released we'll gain a much more realistic expectations of what to expect for these sets and people will have much more realistic proposals. I think the Time Machine's release will greatly help us understand what we can expect from licensed properties. -
The minifigures in the pictures are only prelims so more than likely that Yoda will have a new head and slave Leia will have a different hairpiece.

Link's look isn't that unique, in fact his entire appearance is based on Disney's Peter Pan... He even has a fairy companion. And that hat isn't even distinct. It was a style of hat that has existed for a long time before TLOZ even existed. I find it unlikely that Nintendo is going to be so uncooperative as to tell Lego that a hat of that type can't be used anywhere else. Even the green goblin wears that same type of hat with the same pointy ears. That type of hat is not unique to Link. Plus what about Lego re-using the Dagger of Time in the LOTR sets? -
For the same reason all toys are discontinued at some point. Lego wants to make new sets so they have to stop making the old ones at some point. They have a limited amount of machines and they can't keep on expanding the factory just to please people who can't buy sets right away. If they stopped making new sets just to keep churning out old ones than they'd go out of business. Like all companies that sell things they have to keep moving forward to keep people buying.

So couldn't they justify a mold of a new hat by including it in either LOTR sets or the new castle sets. I mean we have two themes where Lego could use this style of hat too and it would fit well. It's not like Link's look is that unique, the hat and hair could be featured in any number of sets that are based on a medieval/fantasy setting. Heck to offset the cost they could even use it in one of the collectible minifig waves (Which includes new pieces all the time). There's a lot of ways they could afford to make this one piece so I'm still willing to believe that it's entirely possible that this set will be made. -

Good point. Even if there isn't a perfect hat/hair combo for Link they could still make an acceptable likeness using any number of the green hats or blonde hair pieces already in production. There are plenty of themes right now that use pieces that while not accurate at least give you a good idea of who it's supposed to be (There's many figures in the superheroes and Star Wars theme using hair pieces that are nowhere close to how they looked in the source material, but they still manage to be identifiable). Ultimately most of the pieces needed for this set idea have a similar part already in production. -

Here's my speculation on the matter. I think the size has to do with how many sets they put out per wave. Last years Avengers wave cost about $150. This year there are two big Superhero movies so we're seeing that $150 worth of product divided between them. Buying both IM3 and MOS sets will cost you about $150. It seems that Lego is willing to devote a certain amount of sets to the movies and so when there's multiple movies they intend to split it between them. So if they only have $75 worth of product they can devote to IM3 they want to split it in a way that they can get multiple sets into multiple price brackets (That way they hit the three big price marks that kids are going to get sets in). Sadly that means no big sets, rather the sets are released in smaller prices to get more kiddie's to buy them. Also consider that this is Lone Rangers first wave (And potentially only wave). If Lego intends to get the most out of this line they're going to have to pull out all the stops and create the best sets they can for two reasons 1.To sell well even if the movie doesn't (Having these really unique and good looking sets will encourage people to buy even if they didn't care for the movie) and 2. If there's going to be more installments in the franchise you'll want people to still remember the first line to gain excitement for the eventual second. The first wave of any theme is a bet, so Lego has to make the most of it. Superheroes had a similar thing happen it's first year, we had big sets, featuring locations and vehicles that were guaranteed to sell (They played it safe doing remakes of sets a lot of the time). But now since the theme is well established they don't have to constantly release sets that make people jump up and down. With this established fan base for the sets they can dial it back and still sell a lot. All they have to do is release an occasional off the wall good set and we'll keep coming back for more. Also the DC and Marvel franchises are so big that no matter how small and underwhelming the merchandising is people will still buy the sets. When something is wildly popular they don't have to try as hard or spend as much and people will still buy. Fortunately Lego is a quality company and they will go out of their way to service fans (But only to a limited point as the Lego Mandarin shows us). -

If they are truly unwilling to make even one new mold then they should turn down any project requiring a new mold immediately. Portal and Space Troopers shouldn't even be reviewed since they both require new molds. The fact is that if they really have no intention of any new molds than they should disqualify all suggested sets that contain them. To me the fact that they aren't outright saying new molds are impossible suggests that they are at least willing to look into it. Until the day the rules are rewritten to say no new molds I am willing to believe there is at least a chance. I think once we see the Time Machine released we'll have a much better idea of what Lego is willing to do to make these sets a reality. -

Mandarin isn't the worst figure out there. Realistically it's the hair and beard that's outrageously bad. Otherwise what we've seen of the printing looks pretty good and the colors of his clothing are pretty nice looking. His fire buggy looks ridiculous, but really most of the cheap sets are basically for character building (All the sets in this price point for the superheroes theme have been ridiculous, the Batman set was a remake and the Avengers set was a goofy looking motorcycle that Captain America never rode, so this seems pretty on par with what we've had so far). My main problem with these sets is essentially the naming, all three names are incredibly misleading. Putting "Mansion" in a set that's more accurately a part of Tony Stark's lab is really a misstep in marketing (As is describing something as a sea port when really it's just a ship). Putting "Ultimate Showdown" in any set less than $50 is going to be misleading (When I hear Ultimate Showdown I think back to the big Spider man sets we got for the first two movies, so anything less will seem disappointing). Although this makes me wonder if perhaps the marketing at the studio insisted on these names. -

I'm betting they've included two heads for Pepper. After all they'd no doubt include a head for the Iron Man suit. -

I hope this one actually passes. At some point Lego will have to give in, after all Zelda fans are pretty relentless. -

While they may not be the biggest sets, they seem about right based on the other superheroes sets we've gotten in those price points. I'm really impressed all across the board on these. All the minifigures look great and the builds themselves are pretty good. The mansion seems sort of small, but again based on what we've gotten in that price point before it seems like this is as big as it's going to be for a $40 set. Smallness aside though it's really nice looking and full of detail. -
I thought I had read some passing mention of it on another site. Anyways the Ewok village speculation is more stemming from this post. Which really isn't an official confirmation either... But it's enough to fuel the flames. Honestly I'm not looking forward to a set that costly though. The X-wing and potential Ewok village are a bit to pricey for me.

We'll see soon enough with the Boba Fett film just announced. I'm more excited for the Han Solo movie myself. I think in 2015 though we'll see Lego move away from the CW sets and we'll probably see a reduction in the other movie based sets. I think most of the prequels will probably get reduced as to the amount of sets we see (I'd say Lego will try to keep a couple of prequel sets in circulation each year). As for the OT we'll probably see a reduction in Ep 4 and 6 sets (Since we've seen a great deal of sets concentrated on that over the years and admittedly all the core variations and locations pretty much exist in Lego right now, except for a couple of exceptions). I think Ep 5 may see the most amount of sets in the future just because the spin off characters were all featured in this particular installment the most (Plus there's been a lack of sets on anything other than Hoth). Undoubtedly we're going to see a big focus on the new movies for the 2015 line forward.

If I remember correctly a few sites reported seeing it at one of the various toy fairs this year, so that's where this talk is coming from.

If the 04 and 07 movie disappointed you than you obviously haven't seen the 1994 movie... But anyway I agree the big fig would work best for Thing. For Galactus it should be a big fig as well, at least a 1/3 larger than the Thing. I don't want any big brick built characters, it just doesn't appeal to me. As for big exclusive sets I think I would like to see Stark tower. -

This is one of those projects that while interesting I just can't see it getting passed. I mean even though I like the model I wouldn't actually buy it. Plus with Zelda soon to hit the mark I kind of think that has a better chance (Or at least I hope it does) and would rather see that. At some point we'll wear Lego down and get a Zelda set.
