  1. Oh Karabast. The Rogue One Death Troopers in the battlepack 75165 don't have black pauldrons (Paul Drones, haha). I figured we were safe getting a set of 6 Death Troopers by acquiring Krennic's shuttle and two Imperial Battlepacks (x2 DTs in each pack). All Rogue One Death Troopers should have pauldrons: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Death_trooper *Maybe* this battle pack is referencing Death Troopers in Rebels in which they won't have pauldrons?
  2. Hmmmm.... partial credit. The luggabeast was indeed mostly brick - but it also had animal legs. Taking a longer look at the image of the rathtar in the video game I find it odd that they would add tentacles with what appears to be lines indicating where each individual tentacle is connected. Why would they do that unless it was also going to be realized in physical form? I.e. look at the connection with the tentacle that goes through the "YOU" in the poster. And WHAT pray tell is that blue grey thing sticking out of it's mouth? I would almost expect it to be an action feature of some sort. I do love Forresto's sphere shaped solution. I'd like one x2 bigger, possibly even larger. It really should be able to "eat" a minifig! On a side note, my condolences to all the Lego fans down under who are gonna miss the chance on some kits this coming summer wave. That's terrible. I know you guys overpay for your kits already. Yeesh - if Star Wars Lego starts doing regional exclusives (so far the final planet series is the only one I recall), we're screwed.
  3. This is what the Lego rathtar should look like, if the design used by the Lego Video Game is any indication: Wasn't both the new rancor and dewback first shown in this animated style before release in real, physical form? I do realize that we have yet to see the bantha materialize in a kit yet... I remain hopeful that whatever brick built stand-in exists in these prelims because the new mold isn't ready.
  4. "75167 Battle Pack - Dengar, Bossk, IG88 and a droid 4-Lom? (looks like AP-5 from Rebels). Build is some sort of Speederbike." This. This is proof The Lego Group loves us. I would love to have all of those bounty hunters. Quite simply put, we need their scum! Only thing more perfect is if it was the actual bridge scene from the Executor / ESB. Zucks to be Zuckuss, I guess. Not so sure about the Lego conspiracy theory of deliberately leaking low res pics and then checking this particular thread to make last minute changes to their builds to appease AFOLs. I have a feeling these completed kits are sitting in a warehouse for months on end before being shipped to retailers. We're often told it takes a couple years from design to production. But hey, it's a nice sentiment.
  5. Oh man - so disappointing if true. Not so sure about having partial or brick built rathtars... especially since we've seen a beautiful version of them in the video game. We need that giant red mold!! With a set that big there MUST be play features. Not much of an "escape" if they are going to be stuck inside a wall!!
  6. There is no such ship. I mean, of course, there probably will be someday but not today. That's what I'm saying. Rebels has been filled with TIE bombers across multiple episodes and seasons. If the TIE bomber is actual rumor for Lego Star Wars 2017, I'm inclined to believe the Rebels era release due to it's a) mere existence compared to the FO version and b) saturation in Rebels. Just as I'm inclined to believe Saw Gerrera will be a Rebels minifig and not Rogue One. Just seems like a better fit and representative of screen time given.
  7. Great pricing find, makoy. Welcome news to me the Rathtar Escape is at that high a price point because I'd like a substantial Eravana playset if possible! And the "escape" name suggests we may get the doorway the rathtars are locked behind with some technic mechanism to release the rathtars. Doubt we'll see the two Kanjiklub members from TFA Falcon again but maybe a couple Guavians plus heroes - Rey, Finn, BB8, oldHan, oldChewie all very likely. It would be cool if there was a play feature that allowed Rey to close a door and cut off a rathtar tentacle. Does anyone think we'll get two or three rathtars? Or just one? It does look rather huge in the video game and I wonder if it can "swallow" figs whole like the rancor does. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how Lego approaches the feel and design layout of that thing getting loose inside a freighter. I'm curious if there will be a crawl space for Rey and Finn to hide in underneath the corridor.
  8. Oh yes... these prelim builds are worth the hype, I'd say. Don't bother with Google, you should be tube-ing it. For those who can't find it I will try and describe: The Vader transformation is quite fantastic!! The Vader transformation build looks similar in piece count as the Carbon Freezing Chamber. It appears to be a complete circle comprised of wedges that, to me, invokes the scene from Home One with the Death Star II plans. 8 wedges total. There is one wedge that is three times as thick and it appears to have the wench/turning mechanism that probably rotates Vader on the table - and the 'Frankenstein Monster' table does look very screen accurate this time around. One the opposite end of the circle there is an unknown mechanism that maybe resembles a winch - to hold the probe droid? Finally, off to the side on the right there's a small piece that holds two gold lightsabers with red blades. I guess they must belong to a certain Darth Sidious! The medical droid, black with many arms, is big! I can't imagine a better standalone set to get Vader in. This will go nicely on the shelf with all the Coruscant builds. As for the Republic tank, as I said earlier, it just looks stubbier than usual in the front. Still it looks like a tight build - good form and you can see from the box art in the background (Vader transformation set has no box) the circular dome at the top with the Phase I Clone Trooper only seems to have clearance to fit one trooper inside... but maybe it's like the Rogue 1 Imperial tank and you can fit another trooper in front of him, hard to say from these images.
  9. My guess is that we won't be getting a TIE Defender anytime soon, since there is something coming from Lego's The Freemason Chronicles (source: blurry leaks) that looks a lot like a TIE defender, the Tracker I. Well, maybe it isn't a TIE but it sure looks like one. Or maybe a TIE Striker without the bottom wing. I'd certainly much prefer an updated TIE Bomber or Interceptor too myself, but whaddayagonnado? Anyone notice how much shorter the Republic Fighter Tank is going to be? I'm guestimating (blur factor maximum) but from the leaks it looks like it's about 18, maybe 20 studs long total. Set 7679 from 2008 was apparently 47.8 cm long, have no idea what that is in studs, but longer for sure. EDIT: Just found a pic of Lego's 8087 from 2010. http://brickset.com/sets/8087-1/TIE-Defender Not sure why but I can't stand the look of this ship. If they re-issue, it should be easy enough to MOD it into an Interceptor.
  10. "First Order Transport 75166" speeder is awfully close in name to the First Order Transporter set, 75103. So I guess it's a battlepack saying it's a speeder with (hopefully) 4 Ducktroopers. Does anyone recall seeing any First Order Troopers on speederbikes in Episode 7? Great chance to get the Republic Tank. It looks solid as a... tank, and it's much better than dealing with the terrifying aftermarket prices for Star Wars Republic Fighter Tank Set 7679.
  11. Thanks, khatmor. I will leave that photo from Brickset's review here for others to see... to be fair it looks a little silly docked on the show, too. Oh well. At least there is a semblance of an interior to the shuttle this time around.
  12. The Lego Group must know what they are doing to rake in over $5B USD of business every year. Maybe this keeps happening because NA retailers get more stock overall at it takes longer to sell off. Can anyone in NA working at retail confirm those shipments of Winter 2017 waves are sitting in boxes for the next 4 months? For customer complaints, I believe it's the same form for the US and Canada, so let 'er rip: https://www.lego.com/en-us/service But it is to them we should be complaining on this matter - and no one else. Does anyone with a 75170 Phantom II want to humor us with a photo of how it docks with 75053 The Ghost? I don't know about you guys but even the first Phantom 75048 didn't really look right attached to the Ghost either - I display them separately. This new Phantom II looks to be much taller. 75172 Y Wing Starfighter: I can't believe it but I have to get this. The fuselage, the engine tips. What a work of art. TLG rehashes constantly and people bicker but the end result is we keep approaching the "perfect" version of each.
  13. Awesome, I love photo reviews and I've been thinking about this set a lot since Rogue One. Cheers WhiteFang and Merry Christmas.
  14. That ammunition cart/boarding ramp is... is... so ugly. The new (?) hose with cable piece looks really nice. Another cup - these Star Wars Lego figures are a well hydrated bunch. Thanks for the early review, Artizan.
  15. All those kits (MF, DS, imperial shuttle) cost a small fortune. IIRC the cheapest set for NuChewie is (was) Droid Gunship 75042.
  16. Just wanted to say mortesv this is an astonishing feat; not only is this an iconic ship that must be in any serious OT collection/display but I think you nailed the scale and number of parts as well. I am pretty loose with scales (i.e. my sandcrawler is only half the size of the official TLG release) and this one fits my build plan/budget perfectly. Love the white color as a choice (the Empire ships are nearly all grey so - I appreciate that the white blends better with many rebel starfighters and Tantive IV, etc) and the curves are excellent. I plan to build at least 2 for my Hoth base display. THANK you for providing the LLD file. This would have been a very tricky one to reverse-engineer from photos alone. A few years ago I could only have dreamed of making curvy ships like the MC-80 Home One, this transport GR-75 or even the J237 Nubian Royal Starship but seeing the ingenuity of the builders on these forums keeps the ambitious builds coming.
  17. Thanks for the pictures, KlodsBrik. Great to finally see this wave "in the flesh" so to speak. Can't wait to see Thrawn out of the box. I just wish Scariff had a *little* bit of water (maybe some trans blue 1x4 plates?) - the beach scenes of R1 look eye positively popping. Oh yeah, and I also wish Christmas hadn't obliterated my wallet! .
  18. I adore the minimalist but effective solution to the Outlander Club entrance! Bravo.
  19. Wow, glad I didn't spring for this for the obscene aftermarket value this set currently demands... would be much better off doing a MOC from scratch. If you have a good sized Clone Wars display this ship is kinda important for your Republic forces. I do recall skimming through the parts list looking for rare/pricey pieces and the only ones that appeared to be in the category are the two large Republic logo plates on either side of the hull.
  20. Actually I thought that those two were going to be retailer exclusives (Toys R Us, etc) can anyone confirm or deny this?
  21. Interesting theory, not sure about the bit at the end about Rebels not selling sell, though. Unless we are using the Vader's TIE vs A Wing set blowout and retirement after 6 months on shelves as a benchmark for the entire series. Very happy to see they did get the eyes correct on ol' Thawny. That wrong eye color would have been a Thrawn in our collective sides. I thought I'd read everyone's recent posts but maybe not - what exactly is the issue with his rank? It looks correct to me, at a glance. What distinguishes Grand Admiral from Admiral? All three OT kits just revealed offer a chance to get our heroes with improved hair. Totally the Malibu Stacy New Hat Effect: A Wing - Lando's new hair Skiff - Han's new hair (adore that new sarlacc color!) Landspeeder - Luke's "new" hair (albeit not that new but I collect a lot of OT and only have one. Hope we see A New Hope buns' Leia someday.) In case anyone doesn't know, there are heaps of new official images on Hothbricks here and here. So much to look at and scrutinize. Anyone wonder what Kanan's blind face will look like?
  22. Ive seen a lot of these researching my own to MOC... if this was at retail I would buy it on sight. Well done, JamesArts2172!! Especially the beasts. Not easy to pull off in Lego form. TLG is crazy for not making this scene yet. Just looking at your version you can see how much fun it would be.
  23. According to the back of box images leaked a few hours ago (in the usual place one find these kinds of things)... Thrawn's eyes actually look clear. The resolution seems high enough to confirm this. As in his eyes are simply a thin black line around and inside them isn't red but... the blue of his skin tone. Makoy, would sharpie ink remain on Lego? I would have thought the high quality plastic wouldn't absorb any kind of ink. Never tried it. Ohhh... I adore the missle loading winch for the Y Wing!
  24. You're right Artanis I, on the Australia S@H page 75150 absolutely does indeed say retiring soon. That's crazy. Usually I'd say there was a 1.5 to 2 year window of opportunity to purchase a set before retiring - maybe this is changing all across the board. Rogue One, Episode 7/8, Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, The Clone Wars, Rebels, etc. Perhaps the Star Wars brand has hit peak saturation in Lego form? Australia does seem to suffer outrageously inflated prices - however this set in particular was overpriced in all countries. It will be interesting to see if this set retires early in the new year in NA. Especially since there are rumors of new Vader-in-a-cheap-set for next year.
  25. May have been a mistake. Looks like the Retiring Soon tag has - retired. ;) https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Vader-s-TIE-Advanced-vs-A-Wing-Starfighter-75150
