LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
darththeling replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am willing to bet that this kit will be an interior scene and come with one or two... I'd also bet on more Kanjiklub members to be the bad guys of this set. Hopefully I'm wrong and Lego provides us with a whole ship, interior and exterior. Or maybe it's a smaller kit so that people can collect Finn and old Han minifigs without major dropping mad dollars on that Falcon. -

If you have a Falcon already, get Kylo's shuttle. Otherwise... a Star Wars Lego collection gotta have that Falcon. -

Maybe just describe it? Instead of leaked images and links to embargoed content - I don't think there is harm to come from descriptions, right? -

darththeling replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A very remote possibility I'm sure but... I'm wondering if another AT-AT may be included. Just trying to justify that price tag [shrug]. I, know, I know, there's one on the shelves already from the last couple of waves ago. Another thought I had was the timing of the reveal - because the set is snowy Hoth, are they waiting for summer to end (Northern Hemisphere's privilege and all) before unveiling it because marketing/reasons? -

Are you saying that if you were buy and build 4 of them, arranged in a circle, that you could form an entire large, circular carbon freezing chamber? Or would it be 2? The description gives me hope. Hype confirmed! This hype was 100% authentic. Thanks, CM4sci. ...off to read the other descriptions now. ;) -
Interesting discussions. Although I certainly don't find this insulting as other have indicated, I just don't subscribe to the idea that the newest build is always an improvement. I have a few citations just off the top of my head: The AAT. Last year's model is a travesty of "too much chibi" style drift. 8018 was gigantic and I didn''t dig the blue CIS scheme. 7155-1 is the only model that looks screen accurate, colors and all. 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge is a good model, no it doesn't have a removable top (I modded mine rather easily to do so) like 75020. Bricklinking Ree Yees and Max Rebo was an excellent investment compared to junking 6210. TIE fighters. 9492 was a step in the wrong direction, in my opinion. They should be light and nimble, all the extraneous pieces drain wallets needlessly. And what's up with that huge x1 stripe going around the wings? I have to custom all my OT TIEs moving forward because those just don't look right to me. nokialover31, I do get you, though, I suppose there is an inherent 'beauty' in the first time TLG produces a vehicle or location. The entire first wave certainly has a jive to it (although I can't imagine displaying the Gungan Sub or Sith Infiltrator). The blue highlights in the first of every TIE is puzzling. But yeah, collectors items for sure.

Yes. We certainly are. That is, those of us who have been collecting Hoth related sets for 10 years or more. If the preview video from a few months ago is any indication, the only elements that are must haves for me at least would be the ion cannon and the shield generator (with exploding action). They don't look terribly complicated and should be fairly easy to Bricklink for parts. Unless there is some simply must have exclusive figure, I am cautiously optimistic this Hoth Base "UCS" might be a pass. -

This is terrifying. I was going to purchase one at the Lego shop today... I'm inclined, with this apparent rash of QC blunders, to open the kit on the spot in the store and demand a replacement if it is missing any bags. The investment that it is, at the very least should offer the satisfaction of building it when purchased. On the other hand, I'm wondering if (the recall of 75102 aside) the QC issues on this wave are they same as every other wave - but the SW:TFA hype is pushing these QC incidents to the forefront. -
Poe's X-Wing Fighter (75102) Availability
darththeling replied to 955561976's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Right. Maybe they were specific boxes from certain production orders or something... perhaps 955561976 can let us know how his build went. I also wonder if only Lego brand stores are bothering to respond to the recall. But it is reassuring to hear that some people are able to close their canopy piece properly. It is a such a great piece!! -

darththeling replied to 955561976's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Reports on Reddit that some guy allegedly got a "warped" yellow baseplate in his 75102. Others on this forum say: pages are missing in the manual pieces were missing; mismatched parts included in their place So my guess would be some kind of overall quality control failure - it's the only way to explain the various stories from this kit; but not any of the other kits. I wouldn't explain away extra bits as all sets have a few of them. I've read about a lot of damaged Rey's satchels from Rey's Speeder 75099, but those are an old item (that I would assume breaks just as easily). -
Thanks for the link, Lynx! The database was illuminating. Been reading a lot of posts suggesting that Rey's handbag is super easy to crack. I had the same thought when I'd opened mine... put it in a drawer for safe keeping. First time I saw one was in the Lone Ranger Constitution Train.

[MOC] Geonosis Arena Execution (Arena Beasts + Custom Figures)
darththeling replied to LegoAcklay's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is an awesome set - I tried something similar this summer but lacked enough of the pieces to do 4 stud wide columns. I have dinky little 2x2 columns. The beasts look great - that brick built Acklay is outstanding. Do you know if all of the pieces are actually available (all the greens, etc) and are there plans to have decals for the faces, or are they brick-built too? Lovely job! -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
darththeling replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I recall those rumors, too. I think what's happened is... (Spoilers for both Episode 7 and Rouge One) Love that Episode 7 is bringing us so many new planets and locations to build. Really hoping both of these 2016 Episode 7 sets are location based... and the title "Battle at Takodana" suggests that maybe at least that one is. But I think both that one and the "Pirate Transport" will be locations. -

Nokturn's link to reddit was edifying. Red_4 posted: "It's strange that so many would get through QC. I've never heard of such a large scale sh*tfest coming from Lego. I bought the X-wing yesterday. There was one massively screwed up piece, but it wasn't the cockpit. It was the large yellow plate that forms the base of the crew cart. I just threw it in the trash, not worth any extra trouble." This is a pretty major deal, guys. I'm somewhat bewildered that this is happening. A regular old baseplate was warped? I have never seen that and I've lost count long ago how many Lego kits I've cracked open. Others have stated that their X-Wing kit contained no faulty pieces and I've read elsewhere that it was the cockpit windscreen that was the issue... but it sounds like it's going to be a crap shoot for all of us - not every shop will have due diligence with the recalls and some warped X-Wings are likely still sitting on many shelves. Plus, who knows when we'll get a restock? Couldn't it take up to another 6 months or even a year to get replacement kits? Richpepperal has also stated that there were errors with the building instructions. This puts us in a strange situation - buy the X Wing now, for fear of not being able to get it before 2016 or take a chance that the one you find on the shelf is a-ok? Oh, and did anyone run out and buy the whole wave? Would love to see this beautiful wave all together on a table or something all at once. -
I feel that it's worth the price but irritating that you can't fit either Rey's hairpiece or headpiece inside the speeder WITH the box of scavenged bits. Will have to do some modding at least until the film comes out and clarifies this scene. Who is Unkar and why does he/she need thugs? Is Unkar a crime lord or a geographic area of Jakku?

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
darththeling replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm not overly keen to wait another 5 or so years for them to revisit Kylo Ren's shuttle and get it right.... Any day now, one of our resident modding geniuses on this forum will create a clever modification to share with us using only a handful of grey and technic bits. ;) Got a Snowspeeder and Rey's Speeder. Based on the discussion/pics in this thread the First Order Transporter is no question the next purchase. Thanks for the pics, nymmerod. And also, Richpepperell, great pics of the Transporter + I adore your Cloud City dueling platform in the background! Those Transporter hydraulics on the boarding ramp - are they attached to the wall with a technic pin or are these loose or unattached? This whole stunt has been an interesting experiment in marketing. Consider that usually we discuss these rumored kits for some 6 months to a year or so before seeing and buying them - this time around it's been a matter of short weeks. This thread has been paramount in guiding my purchase decisions. Thank you all for your posts and input. EDIT: Yes, Lego-TK1138, that's the exact craft I thought of when the images were first revealed! Love these old school WWII designs slipping in. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

I can't find the CDN prices for these sets anywhere... not really enjoying this roll out of secrecy. Does anyone have a link/list to the Canuckistanian prices? I'm hoping at retail they don't inflate the prices even higher. It's been known to happen. Disney likely is enjoying their big retail sales event whipping fans into a frenzy but for collectors like me who like to plan out their buying over several months it's a real pain to not have at least even the prices available. None of the vendors up here in our tundra wasteland have their websites ready with the new wave. Let's hope this isn't the format for Rouge One, etc.... they have a film each year coming out for the foreseeable future and we do not want this level of secrecy every year. Based on what Lynx reported, I wonder if all of these sets where based on (early) drawings rather than finished models. Maybe we've got more surprises (ahem, screen inaccuracies) in store once we open these. Still - it'll be a fun challenge to mod it. For tomorrow's event I think the smart plan on buying is (unless you have stacks of cash set aside), get the smaller ones first or ASAP. Rey's Speeder and the Snowspeeder will likely be the first to go since they are the two smallest price points. As for the Falcon and bigger kits? I'm sure they'll be comfortably hugging shelves until at least Christmas. -

We have a major mistake in the Star Wars Lego line - http://lego.wikia.co...7103_Jedi_Duel . Released in 2002, it's Yoda vs. Dooku in the Geonosis hangar and the crane is infamous for bearing no resemblance to the pillar that Dooku loosens in his battle with Yoda. In fact, TLG later revisited the set (75017, 2013) and got it right the second time. Very screen accurate of course, because, the film had long been released. TLG likely had the Attack of the Clones Lego line planned out in the year 2000. It's a massive flaw to have a set from a film that includes a functioning crane that was later changed (in post production) to a giant pillar. My guess on (Main Villain's Starship)? The ship is wrong. That wing configuration in the trailer is for atmospheric entry/re-entry. TLG was two years behind in planning this. We're going to have to get on the mod to fix those wings to angle 45 degrees, guys. Trust me, it's Lego. It can be done... and it will be. Edit: By the way, Ultimate Showdown 76008 looks like Iron Man is fighting a janitor villain with a ride-on vacuum cleaner. -

Hopefully this is Rebels-styled? The Rebels style TIE pilots are terrific, just freakin' awesome. If this is true this might be my first microfighter release to load up on - the TIE pilots for Rebels somehow look so much better (screen accurate, too) than any of the previous OT TIE pilot, IMHO. The OT TIE pilot with the cutout face was particularly awful - don't recall which sets/years that was at the moment. I got a lot of old TIE pilots on board the 10188 to replace if this is true. Awesome news. Ugnaught is awesome news, too. For even if we don't get a proper Cloud City for years, at least we can use this minifigure in Cloud City Mocs - excellent. -

Maybe we'll get a Snowspeeder from Star Wars Rebels instead- There was an original McQuarrie painting of one and they seem to be lifting their vehicles / ships directly from his artwork. (The fifth image on this page) http://mentalfloss.c...-wars-visionary -

At *LAST* a closer look at the landers! They sort of resemble the LCVP landing craft of WWII. There is a distinctly naval vibe to them. -

Ordinarily I would agree - however I think there is enough conflict in this scene to do it justice TLG-style. Every kit it seems features a good guy / bad guy balance. And then loads 'em up with flick fires. In this case, Han does fire his blaster at Vader's hand (ESB spoilers, sorry) and then "We would be honored if you would join us." Some Stormtroopers pile in, blasters aimed at the heroes. Anyone ever wonder if they sat down and actually ate with Vader? -

Maybe the carbon freezing chamber is going to be from Rebels, not ESB. Note the title of the kit does not include the word 'Duel.' Anyway, having slept on it, I'm very irritated about TLG's slap in the face to the fans over a 25$ carbon freezing chamber. We haven't seen Cloud City since 2003 and this is the best they can do? Rubbish. UCS or bust. The only way this could work out is if you have to buy multiple sets to create a larger one but I'm doubtful due to the mechanism they will no doubt include to freeze Han (if it is Han). Luke and Vader fight alone in the pit later on the film but then wouldn't it be called 'Carbon Freezing Duel?,' plus they just released a Vader/Luke duel kit. Best case scenario for me: the kit is 1/4 of a full chamber, the figs included are Lando, Bespin guard and an Ugnaught. But I'm not holding my breath!
