  1. So it sounds like we get Rebels-era Ahsoka + Vader and the A Wing vs the TIE advanced in the same box. $100 USD? Sounds like a pretty good deal if it comes true. Instant-buy formula. Updated Vader, as predicted by many he only appears in a large kit Non-Clone Wars Ahsoka (fist pump) Phoenix Squadron A-Wing Even if they didn't actually dogfight each other - this kit is going to be solid gold. Never mind - I see now the A Wing is listed as a different number than the TIE Advanced. Too good to be true!
  2. Thanks for the info. Lemme guess, Snips' set is around $250USD? I was kinda hoping she'd come with a blue A wing. But wouldn't it be sweet to get a new blockade runner or even Sato's command ship. That would be super sweeeeet.
  3. Thanks deskp, I was thinking the exact same thing. The size of the cabin is an issue - it doesn't need to be truly functional (hold a minifig inside) so with my extreme lack of grey I might opt for this method. But I also greatly appreciate Vodnik's approach as well to extending the cabin. Great mods!
  4. The sets are still great, but I certainly won't be getting any additional First Order Snowspeeders given their nearly non-appearance in the film. There must be an upcoming deleted scene which includes them. The resistance base on DQar is going to be difficult to build. As will Starkiller Base. Battle on Takodana is a great start for developing the interior on the other side. I guess a minimig scale Evrana will be attempted by someone, which will be awesome to see!
  5. Having reviewed the board rules again, there's nothing in there about spoilers. If anyone sees differently, please quote this post in their reply with the passage in question from the forum rules and guidelines, which are here. It is a courtesy to not post spoilers. On the other hand, are we going into the new year listening to complaints about spoilers? How long is a reasonable length of time to observe? Go see the film. There's a break coming up, no more excuses.
  6. Here's something for a laugh, two nights ago Conan had a Star Wars special. One of the staff at the show brought his 10179 UCS Falcon for Ford to sign and... well, see for yourself. I screamed out loud!! This link starts 1:42 in, where the good stuff starts. Enjoy.
  7. Is there any way TLG can pull this off without it being a huge disappointment? Doubtful it could get the Death Star treatment. For now, I think the towers that come with the battlepack (75132) we're seeing might be a good start. Any way you cut it, it'll have to be fairly an abstract kit - or typical dull interior.
  8. Indeed. I'd still like to see it first before I made a decision about the set. I'm guessing it would be pretty close to a complete platform - I'd want to see how many studs in the gap. Looking forward to some clever mods of this one - including the overhead assembly of canisters and a proper functioning wench.
  9. Yeah! I was predicting an AT-AT as well in the list price reveal months ago for the USC Hoth set. There's really no other way to justify the price in my opinion... plus that makes it more of an "attack." And it is included in the video!
  10. Well, the Episode 7 C3PO polybag finally showed up in Canada at ToysRUs this week. I called ahead to avoid disappointment - a practice I will recommend to fellow Canucks on this board. Apparently they are still available with SWLego purchase of $25 or more today and tomorrow (Dec 10th).
  11. The Inquistors are both piloting their own in season 2.
  12. Disappointed how? It is listed as a transport, not a starfighter. Although I admit it does resemble a B-Wing... but that does not make it one. The interior, although with a low ceiling, looks to include some play features or at least space to hold some Rebel briefings. Looks like 4 seats. Yeah I was wondering about that. Maybe because he's Mon Calamari they need continual hydration or something? Was it somewhere on this forum that someone said the Battle of Takodana resembled the Temple of Bacon? I spit my drink out over that one, thanks. At last we'll finally get an answer to the question, "is there bacon in the SW universe?"
  13. Does anyone else find it irritating that whenever they have a chance to do a regular TIE, they just end up with an Advanced TIE instead? Wouldn't an abundance of regular TIES make sense for army building?? Anyway, I still think the Rebels-era Imperial pilot is superior to TLG's own OT Imperial pilot, the helmet is perfect. So I'll be getting multiples regardless. I just can't fathom why they always choose advanced over regular TIE.
  14. This is great. When this was first posted I had to pick my jaw up from the floor and I'm just finding time to comment now. Coruscant is a tough build, I'm approaching a few key scenes as a series of mini-scenes styled around the approach of 9526 Palpatine's Arrest, but this is so inspiring to see a piece on such a magnificent scale, bravo! You've obviously poured a lot of time into getting the details right. The backlit billboards are excellent! Ever consider adding (possibly one of the most obscure locations ever) Ziro's Palace? ;)
  15. Wow that scale is absolutely breathtaking! Love the Nebulon Frigate. Sadly TLG may never get around to it on a system scale. I applaud all efforts for this great build. Is the engine section solid bricks or mostly empty?
  16. I have a custom Wuher much like the one in your first post - also with farmed heads from The Lone Ranger. I was thinking of doing something similar but relented due to the price of the Cantina set. But with a handful of tan bricks you can extend the original bar a bit out in all directions - and build a proper stage for them to perform.
  17. Cheers. I really enjoyed adding all the details the the inner core. Most of the build is giant wedges. I chose to build this over getting the MTT which looks great but I wanted something unique for the Trade Federation display. Above I've included a screen capture from the LLD file of the spine. I didn't take a photo of it during the build, apparently. When I was studying the LLD file before the parts shipment came, I started to suspect that the spine may not hold the weight of the arms. Once I finished building one of the arms, I did notice that lifting it without both hands would cause it to fall apart. Now... I certainly did not build this piece for piece. I drifted off-target here and there. So perhaps if I had put every single brick in its intended place - perhaps then it would not have buckled. But as it stands (and I haven't actually fastened the arms to the midsection for this reason) the ship needs to be moved about carefully and in three sections to keep it intact. I have considered that if I glued the 1x2 pieces that connect the hooks and bars together on each wedge to the wedge itself, it may not solve the problem because the stress would move from that piece to some other pieces that weren't glued down. But I was wondering if glue would do the trick. But I'm not keen on gluing everything in place because I'd like to tweak it over time. It is a very heavy ship all together. Luckily it never swooshes in the film so I'm very happy to just have it sit on the detachable shelf and look pretty. Paint0r actually had another build which was less blocky but ultimately decided to go another route. Trusting him as the final build being closest to the film, I chose the latter. But you can see his other attempt at a core in the initial posting to Lego Ideas here. At certain angles, the core appears less blocky. Or... you just have to keep drinking and it looks rounder. ;)
  18. When I stumbled across Paint0r's Legos Ideas page for a Lucrehulk-Class Droid Control ship, I had to build it. So I did. Please support Paint0r's build if you can. The Lucrehulk was a dream addition to my display for some time, and I don't think TLG will ever sell one. So when I saw this design I knew the wait was over - except for ordering the additional 1200 pieces I needed for the build. It took a few nights to figure out how many of the 1695 pieces I had already. These photos were taken at a point where I'd color swapped enough of the ship for display purposes. I didn't follow the .LDD instructions perfectly because there were a few points where I'd gotten lost or simply didn't have the pieces. However, the approach to the build was repetitive, so I was able to 'fill in the blanks' when needed. The Pick-a-Brick order was nearly perfect - but I'd ordered 96 of a slope 45 1x2 with plate and it came in white instead of light grey (a piece that PaB doesn't have available in light grey). I was pretty disappointed until I started building it anyway and thought a dash of white was okay. I also spashed a bit of Trade Federation blue in there, too. This now means, of course, this isn't the ship from The Phantom Menace, the Vutuun Palaa. Another ship of it's class, further along in The Clone Wars. The build: it was a lot of similar wedges. Started with the core, of which I had enough grey laying about to assemble it. It does disconnect from the base model fairly easily. I do hope that if Paint0r sees this model, they aren't disappointed with some of the many cosmetic deviations I made from the original model. I'd say I'm 90% accurate to the instructions, and the final build of the design which was shared here. Much of it was limitation of my patience and budget. It's very difficult to get the arms of the hangars to align perfectly (can see this in the top view photo below). It takes some doing to squeeze the wedges together to make a smooth curve... and sometimes results in buckling and the pieces go flying... argh. As a result, these initial photos will be updated once I can get the twin hangars more symmetrical. It takes patience. But having this beast on display is worth it... even if it isn't swooshable. I really skimped out on the engine array. Too many pieces hard to find on Pick-a-Brick and it was just easier to stick the sub-engines to the side of the hull rather than build the intricate lattice that holds the three main engines and six sub-engines together. I am satisfied with the way it looks. This build will be the centerpiece of my Trade Federation army someday. Will need a little micro-scale fleet of N1 fighters too, of course to bring it down. Front view Top view Antenna array Hangar detail Core view Engine array Ready for display Side view of the core and how it attaches to the main frame of the ship. Wedges aplenty! Most of the build was creating ten of these very tightly packed, extremely well designed wedges that comprise each of the cargo bay/arms.
  19. Is anyone in Canada finding the C3P0 polybags at TRU? I'm just seeing USA sightings.... thanks
  20. Great find! Ah yes, inexpensive access to Finn but... no helmet? Really? Really? Really???? That's a well-deserved facepalm, TLG. I know, I know, he probably isn't wearing his helmet in that scene, but it's just so.... cheap.
  21. Based on the better glimpse at the windscreen in the newest trailer, I tried modifying Kylo's Shuttle to resemble the final version. Not sure it works but I want to keep trying. From what we've seen in the non-Lego toys, the windscreen seems more angular along the top and distinctively red. Makes the craft more badass, IMO.
  22. Well, I'm sure a lot of people missed/are skipping Kylo Ren at that ridiculous price point for his shuttle! On the bright side, if that pic is real, that's confirmation that we'll be getting the first scene from The Force Awakens, as opposed to continual vehicles. The color palette looks nice. There will be some foliage and a mechanism of some sort... oh and some pretty gold bricks.
  23. Confirmation of Leia is terrific. As for that ship, I was hoping it would be a Resistance Troop Transport of some kind, but yeah you're probably right it's like the B-Wing successor or something. It'll probably be $40USD/$50CAD? Here's hoping the wing modes didn't change during the development process this time!
  24. Carbon Freezing Chamber looks great! Waaay beyond my expectations. Does it look like one third of the chamber? Somehow from the pic, it looks like you'd need 3 for a full circular chamber. Looking forward to improving and perfecting this kit. Despite the lack of overhead elements, I'm sold (x3)! The crates in Kanan's set are substantially more creative than the 2x2 crates we've been getting. Interesting observation - and I'm pretty sure those homing spiders never saw the surface of Kashyyyk, only Geonosis. I always figured that after the awful initial performances of these walkers on Geonosis they were discontinued and that's why we never see them (in anything canon) after AOTC. EDIT: I just noticed the spider has the rotating turret of stud shooters. Why does the new "Rebels Speeder" look nearly identical to the Imperial ones used on Endor? Strange. It's been a long time since we've had any new images to discuss. What a relief to finally have something.
  25. Star Wars *should* have a heavy presence, so maybe it's then we'll finally see some new Lego pics?
