Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
Yperio_Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I like the modern licensed themes we have like SW, Harry Potter or LotR, because to me they look more mature in general than the non licensed themes like Ninjago or Dreamzzz or City. Or when i compare classic pirates with PotC i would choose PotC any time Oh, and of course the licensed themes use flesh colored minifigures. It just looks so much more realistic than just yellow/white And i also like all the colors we have nowadays and i wish we had even more shades of grey or between white and tan for example, like some yellowed white And dark turquoise is such a great color. I love it! -

Herlock Sholmes - Second Adventure Ch8

Well, this green guy carries two swords. The marquis surely will have to show him who's the boss -
Yeah, we'll see how this space thing turns out and how much "classic" will be involved. However, if they would make one nostalgia fueled theme, they could make more (pirates)

Very nice raft and nice too see that Ray took his crab friend with him when he left the island with his well constructed raft! And welcome to the forum @MarcoLego

I got the Scythe. It great to see how everything comes together. My only nitpick is Kenobi's cape. It does not look like in the picture and just extends horizontal at the front But i love that simple sand blue torso!

I also would prefer historically accurate pirates over fantasy pirates. I am fine with PotC and i think it is as historically accurate as is possible for Lego Generally i think most people would prefer a imperial flagship, some pirate tavern, an islander's island, a battlepack with a canon and imperials & pirates. Some civilians. Things like that. Nothing fancy, just solid sets. While the rumored unlicensed space theme and CMF of next year maybe not have my interest at this point they can give us hints about how Lego treats the subject in regards to its connections to classic space or the other space themes.

Like the playground set or the wagon from the 100 years of Dinsey train and any other set like these, a pirate splash battle will be basically useless. Maybe 1 or 2 nice parts but that's it.

I am curious to know which sets you guys would like to see in a new Lego Pirates wave. Let's say there are 8 sets in the price range from 10€/$ to 150€/$. And it would also be interesting to see if you prefer more historically accurate or more fanatsy themed sets. Any ideas for wave of pirate sets?!

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Yperio_Bricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, that's really good! I skipped the scout trooper and will skip the storm trooper but C-3PO and the gonk i'll pick up -
Very nice diorama with the 4 islands! Love it! The tile pattern of the water looks pretty regular. Especially in the 2 16x32 modules. I'd break the regular pattern up and throw in some 1x1 tiles or plates.

Exactly! Ninjago has been successful for such a long time now. Those ninjas can travel to space or under the sea. They can sail ships or pilote mechs and planes. They can fight various villains, possesed snakes, orcs or dragons. They build temples and cities, history themed or cyper punk'd. While everything is possible in Ninjago, it renders many other themes impossible. Curse and blessing

I think there is no chance of any history themed theme at the moment. Be it pirates, castle or any other theme. My only hope is a new PotC movie. I think Lego will continue to make big, expensive nostalgia fueled sets for adults and as the next pirate themed set we might see a ship after BB and Eldorado Fortress. But a full theme with small, medium and large playsets, with the most expensive set being around 150€ and the smallest around 10€, is simply impossible nowadays. And such a theme would always have to compete with Ninjago and Ninjago had some quite diverse waves, with a broad range from Orcs to submarines to mechs and what not. And even in this forum i often read that kids of today do not care about history themed sets. I don't know if this is true in real life When i was a kid my parents would take my brother and me to many castles and ruins, to ships and museums. Or we went to fairs where knights in full armor would reenact jousting. I still remember how impressed i was when i first saw Dover Castle or Carcassonne. Especially Carcassone looked like some unreal fata morgana to me (as a kid) when it emerged at the horizon. I read books about knights and pirates, liked to watch movies and was interested in anything from these periods of time. And when i built with Lego i always tried to be historically accurate, despite the limits of the classic Lego. But we had no mobiles phones and tik tok back in the day, so this is just a anecdote So i do conclude that the only chance we have to get a wave of sets is a new PotC movie. Apart from this there will only be the occasional nostalgia fueled AFOL set. From a moccer's perspective sets are not that important anyways, but the minifigs!

Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Yperio_Bricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
After the MBS Cantina was out i was hoping for a playscale version that includes some of the alien cantina patrons. Maybe in the style of Boba's palace and with 6-8 minifigures. This and Garsa Fwip's Sanctuary (I know it will never be done ) are high on my wishlist. Generally i wish we would get more location sets and more aliens. -
There are enough "content creators" who dump their creations in several forums and other places and seek admiration but who in turn never comment on other people's mocs. Imagine there were only "content creators" and not stupid people like me who write comments...!

Nice to see some Tyree'dee. I'm curious too see where the story will lead us! Also another fine vignette (only the blue cap distracts a little bit from the horse )
