  1. Ah she’s absolutely gorgeous, I’d tend to agree on the wheel size it feels more right with a bit larger. Otherwise I think it’s a spitting image.
  2. Dang that’s a bummer, I really wanted to run my locomotive with a physical controller that isn’t IR but a Decoder is 100-200USD…. Suppose I’m better off waiting then.
  3. Does anyone know if a PFxBrick can be controlled by a wireless train throttle ? I guess it more boils down to if the PFxBrick can be used as a DCC Decoder ( it sort of works like that already ) and having a physical controller tied to the locomotive that’s not reliant on IR would be nice
  4. well it has been a while, amazing how fast time flies isn't it? in about a year or so when i move ( hopefully the last time ) ill finally be building this layout and its been quiet a time developing it! so far i plan to go with FxTrack for it but the service line will likely be some amalgmation of MILS plates that i can lift out of a larger table setup while leaving the rest as just baseplates bolted/glued/ taped to a table! there likely won't be an update for quite a while... but im getting pretty excited to actually get it built.
  5. lovely work as always and wonderful attention to detail! always an inspiration to see your works!
  6. It’s always lovely to see the progress one makes, especially as an artist or hobbiest, I’ve found it rather easy to fall into the pitfall that my own work pales in comparison to others. But it’s not, you cannot hold your work to someone else’s standards and sometimes looking back at old works can show you just how far you’ve come. Keep up the wonderful work as always :>
  7. Oh I’ve been meaning to make one of these guys but the move really set some of my plans back, I wanna use this lil fella for refrence later for sure!
  8. Was following this build on your flicker for a while! It’s absolutely gorgeous, really love seeing the bridge and rock work all come together!
  9. Nice to see an update I defo want some of that R120 and I can’t wait to see the 9v power system fully realized!
  10. Honestly it feels like Lego is just trying to throw its weight around it sucks as a fan, just another reminder how corporations are not your friends and they’ll go after their bottom line no matter what… my worry is they’ll start going after all the third party train folk if this sets precedence…
  11. cute little thing, now you just gotta make the overhead line network ;)
  12. in the end lego makes money either way, the optimist in me says they will try working on a workaround for it... the pessimist says its working as intended, after all the scalpers sell on bricklink which lego has its grips in now.
  13. especially the switch clearances! the rails reach up to the same height as a plate under any small wheel assembly. But! if you make a pilot truck upside down a tile will sit comfortably over.
  14. The yellow classic space minifig, specifically one from my dad’s sets when he was a kid… it’s a bit dinged up and has issues with smudges and it’s face is a lil messed up, his right arm is loose and his legs are to stiff… but it’s sentimental value is more then anything I could think of. When I moved away he gave it to me, and finally accepted me and my life choices, I guess me finally leaving the coup so to speak jostled his high and mighty opinion of who I was… so it’s a reminder of my fathers love and acceptance. The entire reason I have my love of lego is cause of him. A very special minifigure indeed.
  15. A YouTube I check up on now and then put out this and I saw little coverage, apparently his store sold out within an hour of the videos release. I didn’t think it warranted a new thread but it seems there is a want for this type of thing still! Going to be holding out for FX bricks custom pickups however.
  16. It’s why I only really watch racing brick and jang these days, only two reviewers I found who have rather balanced views and even review non Lego items at times, otherwise the community is a slew of drama and man children or wannabe venture capitalists trying to sell you their sets. That’s the real crux isn’t it? Lego has little incentive to not continue selling them as blind boxes, they will make a profit either way and it’s a cold and callous thing in our capitalist hellscape, if the line goes up then they likely won’t budge… however I have heard they were doing limited runs of full CMF box sets in Denmark? But could never get full confirmation outside rumors
  17. CMF was one of the best worst thing Lego chose to make, the idea is really simple and fun but the loot box/blind bag aspect has been nothing but a detriment now due to scalpers and resellers ( not as bad as hot wheels from what I’ve heard ) to the point that before Lego put the scanning in for the boxes folks would just open them in the stores and take all the high value ones. If they are going to put a code to scan on them now why not just sell a full set of twelve at this point for folk that don’t wanna do the blind bag stuff? It’d save a lot of headaches I think.
  18. I have a series of yes/nos that I should make into a flow chart but I’m general the answer is complex 1. Will the model be something I keep and never disassemble ? If im Keeping it I’m far more willing to make modifications 2. lights/wiring, if it’s a model I’m keeping I have no issue drilling holes or making channels in the plastic for wiring, I do it for my gunpla, I did it with my grandpas train layout when I used to live with him and I’ll do it with lego. Plastic is plastic! 3. The running gear dilemma. I mostly make train mocs, well one fully my own, but my rule for the running gear of the drivers ( the wheels tied to the pistons of a steam locomotive ) I will cut technic pins, arms and bars till TLG gives us more then scraps. Though I tend to 3D print my own rods and so on, however BTD makes drivers with a very specific material with SLA printing that I’ve never been disappointed in so that segways into… 4. 3D printing and the Kraggle in the room this is an invaluable source to brick building, but sometimes also requires sanding down of both a lego part and/or the 3D printed part. Though recently I found the joint tightener I use for my gunpla and figures works well with lego and is easily removed via isopropyl alcohol, water based Polyurethane, wich is used as a floor polish ( also helps with smoothing 3D prints ). I feel some folk see Lego as to ephemeral of an investment that they don’t take as many risks with it as a medium. I suppose that’s about it then, sometimes having different hobbies can be a great insight on others!
  19. Well that was a nice little history read, I think I’m in the far more younger crowd as far as AFOLs go but I like eurobricks as a place and I honestly kinda dislike the trend of a lot of ego content being in instagram now with the whole of Facebook having a slew of issues as a company and as a corporation… so I relegate myself to discord and forums and sometimes Reddit…. Forums have their own nuances that call back to my youth on a dell laptop as it screams and a website takes ten minutes to load…. And now I can just get on it with a phone anywhere! Yet this place remains like a branching tree full of history :>
  20. Actually I’ve been a member for a couple of years but have relegated to lurking in train tech, as my primary thing is trains. I do collect official sets and other mocs now and then but most of my own works are train related, I ended up here as it was one of the very few if only places to discuss Lego trains and what not and I couldn’t recall the last time I had been on a forum since discord became a thing! Well I’m glad to be here anyways, there really isn’t to much to know about me nor am I a very outstanding person but I’m happy to be here. see you around!
  21. More updates! I finally got a trailing truck design I really like! I’ve also gone ahead and started detailing the locomotive in its factory finish paint, I actually had a lot of great advise from Glenn Holland on the running gear and I think I’m rather happy with it now but have redone the entire piston assembly to invert the 1x6 tile and bring them a smidge closer to the body as they are what takes the ten wide to eleven! Overall though I had a lot of ideas and rough models I made for the a far more realistic running gear but realized I sorta like the charm of this Lego esque setup, it feels accurate /enough/ and runs in a way that makes me happy! I was however able to redo the drivers in prep for the new motors and much more heavily detail the break lines and greeble on the for set! I’ve never actually shown off much of the internals but this is pretty much all the wiring, I had to disassemble the loco into its two halves and tear off all the panel but boy was I happy to have made it so the panels all come off in segments! I’ve redone the cab almost entirely while keeping the same shape… it was really loose before and never felt solid enough so I was glad to correct that and add even more details!
  22. Oh wow! I’ll be sure to give them a read then thanks for your help!!
  23. i see, the idea was to alleviate long term issues but i guess that'd mean it'd be a bigger one when it happens. oh! id love to see that, my AC-9 is rather heavy, and ive noted that the axles do slowly wear down into their axle holders. do you drill a hole the size of the brass tube?
