  1. Here something I've noticed from the price list in the first page of this thread. I suppose at the moment we cannot be sure about any statements over future sets, but if assumptions on 76404 are correct the 2022 Advent Calendar will cost more than the 2021 one. As you can see on Lego shop (LEGO® Harry Potter™ Advent Calendar 76390 | Harry Potter™ | Buy online at the Official LEGO® Shop US) the 2021 Advent Calendar was $39.99. I think that all of you knows about 2021 lack of resources and inflation. $5 difference between the 2 sets is an increase of 12.5%. I don't know if LEGO is really increasing prices on its products, but increased price could bring to 1) sets with the old price but with less pieces or the same amount of pieces but less expensive ones (we already seen grilles instead of baseplates); 2) sets more expensive, but with the usual number of pieces and expensive pieces; 3) ... If it's the case, I suppose that they will go with a mixed strategy (some sets costing more, some sets having less pieces or less expensive pieces...) What do you think? PS: Just as an example, Diagon Alley was $399.99. With a 12.5% price increasing it would cost $450.
  2. Totally agree with you. For Christmas I received Fluffy Encounter set (and also Hogsmeade Village). When I first saw the set images some months ago I though the Fluffy set wouldn't be so good, but when I started building it... damn it's even worse (just my 2 cents opinion ). The main part in the set is, obviously, Fluffy. When I had finished building it I had to admit this is the ugliest thing I've ever built from 2018. Related to it even the small and the almost insignificant Devil's Snare looks like as piece of art . Yeah, I don't like Fluffy.
  3. Hi @thecallumread I'll try to answer you, for what I know, hoping I don't make errors At the beginning, Lego had a 3 years project for Harry Potter theme. So, basically, what you've called 2018-2020 theme has ended. The 20th anniversary of Harry Potter first set was the occasion for Lego to make a new beginning with a very different style from the previous one. Fans reaction is difficult to estimate for me, because I can talk only about what I've seen on this forum and, anyway, these are just my impressions. For what I've read, this 2nd series of sets (2021-...) at the moment has generated less entusiasm than the 1st one (2018-2020). There's also a bit of disappointment because LEGO decided to close the 1st series without facing DH movies (the fact that LEGO refers to Warner Bross/Harry Potter movies is something to keep strongly in mind when talking about possible future sets, in my opinion). And talking about DH sets, in the past a LEGO designer, if I remember correctly, said expressly that they decided to not cover DH. But there's always the hope they will change their mind. At the moment I think we know nothing about a possible future 3rd Harry Potter CMF. For what we've seen untill now for the future: - you can expect almost surely continuation of the new series with the 2021 style; - you can probably expect (or hope about) new sets with some remakes and something new; at the moment no 2021 set is a pure remake of a 2018-2020 set: there's always something different like scenes depicted, focus or characters (the Great Hall remake, for example, is now just a part of a bigger set focused on the Chamber of Secrets; the future Hospital Wing set is the remake of just a part of the 2019 Clock Tower set, is focused on the Timeturner scene from PoA and has Mrs. Pomfrey as a completely new character); - if LEGO is following the same pattern of the 2018-2020 series, there's the possibility that 2022 sets will cover PoA and GoF movies; - there's the new Fantastic Beasts movie and it's impossible to say if LEGO is going to produce sets related, how many and how big. New style is different from the old one, but it's not impossible to merge old series sets with new series ones. @Textorix has realised a digital model you can see here. Anyway, sets like Hogsmeade Village and any future sets located out of Hogwarts can easily be put near the 2018-2020 sets without problem, I believe.
  4. Oh, well, you're asking too much to my poor analysis abilities I suppose both your suggestions, more information earlier and less appealing set design, could be seen as explanation. There's also the opportunities created by leaks. More leaks (or, if you prefer, supposed leaks ) generates more replies. And there's the type of set: a CMF give a further opportunity to write down your own wishlist or guesslist. Furthermore, a lot of us got burned this year (do you remember the low your expectations slogan for 2021 wave). Last year there were also the Hogwarts Moments novelty. Talking about the 2018-2020 wave I would reward it with a 9/10* rating, while 7/10* for the 2021 wave. 2021 wave, for me, is positive anyway, but still less exciting than the former cycle. My heart sufferd a bit, my wallet less... no it's not true , cause I discovered BrickLink and bought some old Harry Potter sets that I wanted when I was a kid . Diagon Alley was the icing on the cake. Who knows? Maybe LEGO will surprise us this summer * Only considering sets I'm interested in (no microfig, no animal models, no art sets, no macrofig, no icons)
  5. Just for a not too much serious comparison: Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion thread reached 745 pages, 18602 replies and 1.685.320 views, while Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion thread closed with 454 pages, 11344 replies and 1.055.690 views. Well, good 2022 Wizarding World Thread to everyone !
  6. mmm... 470$ is a lot (well, at least for my pockets ). As always, for set so expensive, my hope is that it would be a yes/no choice. Luckily, for me Diagon Alley set was a yesset : I appreciate Diagon Alley (and I slowly built and enjoy it with my brother, taking almost a week to finish it), even if I had to change Daily Prophet section to make it fully satisfing. If LEGO will produce a minifig set for 470$... well they'll have to realised something really nearly perfect if they want my money . I suppose that a four building set, like Diagon Alley one, with at least Gringotts (taller than the other buildings), a dragon over the roof and Leaky Cauldron, would justify the increased price. We'll see. For now, keep low your expectations
  7. Finally I had the time to see your new updates and I fear I'm going to be repetitive cause I really like your building. Particularly I appreciate the two colour brick pattern you released for the exterior part; I think that it gives the building a touch of realism. If I understood right you're thinking about going on with great stairscase tower... a very important challenge ! For the moment I think that you did a very good work and when you'll finishing Great Hall and Main Courtyard you'll have reached a notable milestone . Great Hall plus Main Courtyard would work very well even as a stand alone.
  8. And Quirrel's one, with the big pot
  9. So in the end I had time to look at the catalogue images about March sets. I'll wait clearer images to judge the sets, but there's a thing I can say: Madam Pomfrey, finally! It's on my please-LEGO-do-it list since the beginning (well, on the list of a lot of us, I suppose). And saying beginning I mean 2001. When I was a kid I had very less LEGO sets and minifigures and very less opportunity to buy or receive sets, single minifigures, single parts. So my Harry Potter characters team was made by a lot of generic and somehow strange minifigures, with surprising use of parts, and a lot of fantasy. As for Madam Pomfrey she was simply the Chess Queen from 4704_The Chambered of the Winged Keys Oh, well, I and my little brother and sister had fun anyway . Thanks!
  10. I don't follow news assiduously, is there any idea on what to expect the next year (apart from March sets)?
  11. Assuming LEGO is following more or less the same pattern of 2018-20 wave, the next year I'll expect sets to be around the PoA and GoF movie. And supponing LEGO will continue the 2021 wave strategy, it will be logical to assume a soft reboot of the theme. I admit It's a long time since I've seen the PoA movie the last time, so it's possible I'm not so precise. If LEGO will continue with the Hogwarts Moment sets, I think Lupin's Class will be an almost certain choice (what other Class we miss? Quirrel's, Hagrid's, Umbridge's, Slughorn's... I don't remember other). So I would exclude Lupin' Class as a summer set. But Lupin could appear in a Shrieking Shack set. The 2004 Shrieking Shack set contain also a little Honeydukes, but LEGO has put it in the Hogsmeade Village Visit set. Could a new Shrieking Shack set contain a Whomping Willow remake? Not impossible, in my opinion. Than we have Quidditch match as an other possible remake, with Harry, Cedric and Dementors. Not an amazing set, I know. The last scene I remember in the movie is Sirus's Escape. And LEGO has already done this set in 2004. So this is a third possible set.
  12. "However" continued Dumbledor "in recognition of Mr. @uPawelek pure brickbuilding ability and outstanding love for Harry Potter PC game, I award his House sixty points". It's really difficult to find something to comment your building, while staying astonished in front of the screen. Wow! How can I not quote you! Basically you've just described me! I'm still strongly tied to Harry Potter PC games, mainly PS and CoS (and in my opinion CoS is one of the highest point in HP PC series, with HP Lego videogames). They remind me the joy of the childhood and the welcoming, somehow positevely nostalgic, feeling of returning to Hogwarts. And occasionally I decide to play them again. Said that, nothing in your description and in your building sounds really new to me, starting from the Dumbledore quote you put at the beginning of your message Fantastic! Really fantastic! More than fantastic what you managed to build and how you did it! In my opinion you perfectly managed to faithfully transport in LEGO form the magic, the atmospheres, the spells, the architectures, the creatures, the scenes of the game. It's so difficult, for me, saying what I like most from your MOC. I think that Giant Orange Snails, Fire Crab and Gargoyle are simply perfect. Really simple, on the contrary, revealing what I don't appreciate: nothing I fear I've used fantastic a lot of times in my message... ... oh, well, anyway... Fantastic!
  13. Good idea and nice buildings
  14. It seems to me it was just yesterday when I read your disappointment about the new sets... ... now this I'm happy you managed to find a place for them, creating a simple but intriguing model of Hogwarts. Very, very nice!
  15. Impressive! And how many nice tiny details
  16. Very, very impressive Really similar to the original setting in the movie. Interesting how you created different type of floor. Nice the clothes hangers and all the scenes you represented with your building . PS: I don't know if it's just me, but all your technic links point to a 404 Not Found page.
  17. Very clever how you overcome the entrance door problem to make it open outward. In general, the front section is really good. I don't like so much the front stairs, but I suppose removing them would create a lot of mess and problems with the other sections (entrance door, side windows...). Anyway, a touch of personalization is never a bad thing when building you own creations (otherwise they wouldn't be so own ). I find you are doing a nice job with your Hogwarts
  18. Always interesting see how other people realise their minifigures. Plenty of suggestion for my collection.
  19. This is a really magnificent building! I'm in love with it! And in my opinion you managed to! While looking at your images I can hear sound of water. I particularly like how you created the shoal (not sure this is the right word for a group of fish) in the lakebed, the background all around with transparent and gray pieces and the columns holding up the lake. I hope LEGO will give us a Second Task set the next year. Not as big as yours, obviously, otherwise I would have to sell my collection just for have space in my home
  20. That's what I thought when first reading about the new date release: no more January-June, but March-September releases. This would mean a lot more time until we'll heard something about the new wave
  21. Nice scene and poor Harry! In CoS is Ron that tells Harry about dangerous books, isn't it? I remember Ron, but it's a long time I don't read the saga.
  22. You open the main door (interesting how you built it merging two pairs of doors) and then... ... boom! Wow. The Great Hall in all its beauty. Nice how you put braziers inside the Great Hall and gargoyles holding up them. And very good the towers over the side wall: I find that the corner arch you used make them really pleasing.
  23. Finally I had the time to see all the parts. As a Harry Potter and LEGO fan I always appreciate when someone put his efforts into building Hogwarts mocs. I find particularly interesting your how-to-see-lower-floor way. I like how you built and hid Hufflepuff entrance. Really imaginative and clever. Very nice also Great Hall small towers and the general appearance of the Entrance. Best wishes for your building, I look forward for new updates
  24. Fantastic! What can I say more? The entire scene, the architecture, all the details, colours, plants, animals, minifigures... everything is in the right place. And Dobby on his way to the market... ... that's really funny. I like the presentation video too and I find the music match very well. A lot of work and a lot of passion. Well done!
  25. I find it really cute Simple facade, but elegant, without overdoing. And nice flowers on the windowsills. Maybe adding one simple window for each floor over the door, in the back of the building, could break the monotony of the wall. Or ivy climbing the wall and covering part of it.
