  1. Not really, I think. Imagine they decided to celebrate the anniversary with golden minifigures of the first wave (2001). In that year, we had 8 minifigures (not counting variants, Peeves, Chess Queen and Knight Statue): Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Snape and Quirrel. One problems with this theory would be Voldemort inclusion, but you can think that being the main enemy they decided to produce a golden one anyway. So, 9 golden minifigures. If that's the case, we would have both June sets and August ones containing a golden minifigure. Even the 250 set.
  2. That's what they have already done, haven't they? Being difficult, because of the connections they've given to Hogwarts parts (Great Hall, Whomping Willow, Clock Tower, Astronomy Tower), to put Chamber of Secrets below the castle (traditionally below the Great Hall), they had 2 or 3 possibilities: 1) creating a stand alone Chamber of Secrets, like Room of Requirement, with no suggested connection with 2018-2020 sets (of course, one can always mod his sets); so a Chamber of Secrets below the castle (with rock pieces to show it), but non below the castle (cause they would have presented this as a stand alone). 2) remaking the Great Hall, with the Chamber of Secrets below, with no clear connection with 2018-2020 sets and a Chamber of Secret concretely below the castle; 3) creating a Chamber of Secrets to put under the 2018 Great Hall, sacrificing the connections between sets they suggested. Being this year a special one, they decided to celebrate the anniversary going with the second option, giving us Chamber of Secrets and basilisk below a particular and unexpected Great Hall remake. Obviously, at this point, Long Gallery and Bell Tower(s) are on the table yet, like possible sets for the next years, maybe with scenes and locations taken from DH, if Lego would return to the 2018 style.
  3. Why not? If Lego had wanted to complete Hogwarts exterior appearence with Long Gallery and Bell Tower(s)... Not sure on this. If Lego had wanted to create an important setting like Chambers of secrets... And they wanted, cause they did it. If Lego had wanted to give fans not only Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dorms (or, if you prefer, beds) but also Slytherin and Hufflepuff beds. Why not putting them all together? On the other hand, Lego didn't put basilisk into the Great Hall? Of course, maybe it would have been better to put Library into the Long Gallery, or something else... but Chamber of Secrets into the Long Gallery... not something so absurd for me. If you think about it, we all had a clear idea on what Lego would have done this year and the next one (oh, well, not all the same idea): Deathly Hallows scenes, Gringott, Hogsmeade, Durmstrang Ship, Tent... and here we are with something that suprised everyone and disappoint some... and fearing that we'll be more suprised and maybe disappointed by August wave. Cause we tought to know what Lego has in mind, what was Lego plan, but we didn't. That's why we won't see Chamber of Secrets in the Long Gallery (and maybe we won't see the Long Gallery or Bell Tower(s) at all), but it would have been possible to see it.
  4. Oh, well, maybe. But in Whomping Willow we had Griyffindor dormitory... yes, only two beds and probably not enough, but Gryffindor dormitory. To have Slytherin and Hufflepuff dormitory you need only four beds And that's 2018 style. And for the Chamber of Secrets... why has it to be big and on it own? In 2018 style Lego recreated a lot of rooms trying to give them detailed in a very little spaces, just to adapt them to the exterior aspect: Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dormitory, Dumbledore's office, Prefects' bathroom, Snape's and Slughorn's offices, Infirmary, Snape's and Moody's classroom. And the exterior aspect and his resemble to that one of the films is, for me, the central point of that style. So, if they liked to produce Long Gallery and Bell Tower(s) in 2018 style I'm sure they would gave us a immediately recognisable building in his exterior aspect, able to connect to the rest of Hogwarts. And for the inside, a detailed and not so big Chambers of secrets and 2 Slytherin plus 2 Hufflepuff beds rapresenting dormitories. So, this isn't something impossible to create, in my opinion. Maybe something that would disappoint some or a lot of us, but Lego has just produced a June wave that disappoint a lot of us.
  5. My original vision was something like that. When most of us thought that Lego would have given us Bell Towers, I imagined that they would have produced Long Gallery + Bell Towers (maybe just one tower). And they would have put inside Chamber of Secrets (DH scene) and Slytherin and Hufflepuff dormitories.
  6. Oh, well, why not Dumbledore's Pensieve with Horcruxes? Maybe with special Harry and Voldemort minifigures as a plus. For me, this would really mean lowing my expectarions a lot!
  7. Yeah, it would be funny and really nostalgic.
  8. Yes, this is true! I really like how they recreate Hogwarts following the films, but sometimes I think it's too much perfect. Everything in the (Warner Bros film) right position, more or less. How good was seeing Peeves coming out of nowhere in Snape's Classroom . And you make me think to another thing: in some old instruction books, in the end, there were also alternative buildings and some funny and absurd scenes. In 4702_Final Challenge set, in the end of the instruction book, Harry and Quirrel play together throwing 1x1 round bricks into the roof with a sort of catapult made with the spider's web. Or Harry looking the sky with a telescope. And, in 4707_Hagrid's Hut, Hagrid's wind mill and garden or Dumbledore's telescope tower (telescopes everywhere)!
  9. Oh, well, I was a kid when the first wave was produced. I consider myself lucky: even if I used to live in a small village, with no toyshops in the neighborhood, and used to receive Lego sets mainly in two occasions (Christmas and birthday) I had a good amount of Lego sets (less than I'd liked to have, obviously ). Having a brother and a sister who liked (and likes) Harry Potter and Lego was a help too. I had/have The Final Challenge, Chamber of Winged Keys, Snape's Class, 1st edition Hagrid's Hut, Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley Shops, Troll on the Loose, Quidditch Practice, Dobby's Release, Dueling Club, Slytherin, Sirius Black Escape. So, answering your question, what I think about them... ... basically they aged badly and I really prefer modern sets to older ones. But, hey, 20 years passed . Of couse I still love old sets: I grew up with them, played a lot and enjoyed it. They were far from being perfect, but kids' fantasy cover all the problems and that's fantastic . Really, what I missed most as a kid from first waves were Hogwarts Castle, Dumbledore's Office, Chambers of Secrets, Hogsmeade and Forbidden Corridor... and in June nearly all of these gaps will be closed. I loved capes, hats, books, owls, spiders, frogs, snakes... Peeves, potions, keys, hidden objects ... I liked boxes style, the "map" that showed you all the sets linked together. But Lego redid almost everything. Oh, well, it would be good seeing a new Peeves. What I don't miss are "magical wands" (bars 4L... how awful!) and the very poor charachters selection. And another thing I feel thinking about older sets is that they seemed more magical... but I suppose that's beacuse I was a kid...
  10. Yes, that's another possibility but I think for Lego would be better going with two sets, maybe able to connect each other: one set with surface part of the bank (facade, main entry, goblin's desks), one set with underground sections (vaults and railways) and dragon. In this case, if you want to recreate DH scene or you haven't much money, you'll pick the second set; if you want to complete your Diagon Alley and you have money, you'll pick the first one and probably also the second. In any case, I think Lego, if they will produce Gringott, won't put one part below the other, like they haven't put Chamber of secrets under the 2018 Great Hall.
  11. That's the reason why I saw two different sets for Gringott as a likely idea: a modular one, able to connect with Diagon Alley or to keep as a stand alone; a second one, not connectable (of course, one can always mod it), with vaults and dragon for the DH scene.
  12. Crabbe and Goyle fingers crossing with us
  13. I don't think that torso is completely out of place. Harry, Ron and Hermione in that scene (Gilderoy Lockhart book signing) wear a cape with Gryffindor crest on it over their plain clothes. In the movie, anyway, their capes haven't hoods. Really out of place is Draco's torso, cause Lego gives him school uniform under the cape. One thing I noticed: Draco's robe in Diagon Alley set has a different style crest between that one of the robe Draco wears in Astronomy Tower set. The first has the same style of Slytherin quidditch robe crest while the second has the same style of Gryffindor robes one (with different colours).
  14. If I remember well, they wear their uniforms when they find out Fluffy and see it for the first time; they wear "civil" clothes when they go down into the trap door (devil's snare...).
  15. I don't really like the Hogwarts Moments jumpers too, but it wouldn't change too much my opinion. Not to the point of not buying the sets. Certainly I would be disappointed with Harry, Ron and Hermione wearing their jumpers, "regular" or "Hogwarts Moments", instead of civil clothes in the Forbidden Corridor/Fluffy set.
  16. A difficult question to answer. I think that a good scenery for me, like for you, would be an all anniversary wave or with just one of the smallest sets from DH. I would also stand some remake. But it really depends on a lot of variables: scenes recreated, concrete buildings design, minifigs selection. The worst scenery would be one with nothing interesting and in which I wouldn't buy nearly anything. Following your examples, I wouldn't buy a brickbuilt Fawkes or any other creature, nore microscale sets and probably not a Freeing Dobby remake or any other remake with very bad buildings, no interesting scene and no new and good minifigs. Consider that I evalue the June wave (from prelim images) with a 7/10 rating , while some of us are really disappointed. You can say that my August disappointment will be mitigated by June wave (and I hope not having any disappointment ). Clearly not the same situation for someone who doesn't like June wave.
  17. Finally, I had the time for giving a good look to June wave prelim images and... ...you've already said everything! I can understand disappointment. If you had asked me what I was expecting for this year I would have answered with a nice list of sets... from the Tent to Grimmauld Place, from a First Years Challenges (with Fluffy) to a Diagon Alley expansion with Gringott and, maybe, Leaky Cauldron (or Borgin and Burkes). I wasn't even aware of anniversary... ... but, sincerely, I cannot hate these sets. 1) Hogsmeade is a really nice set, I think. Similar, but smaller, to what I was expecting, even if I thought there would be Hog's Head Inn (but I hope they are keeping it for a future set). Not bad also the minifigures selection: Madam Rosmerta was on my to-create-list, Mr. and Mrs. Flume are a good add, Harry and McGonagall obvious as for the scene reproduced, while I would have prefered Seamus to Dean. Rating 8/10 2) As for Chamber of Secrets, I though it would have been a 2022 stand alone set, like Room of Requirement, with Basilisk and so on, in which you could have even recreated on your own the DH scene. The set we've seen is a fairly good way for Lego to give us Chamber and basilisk and celebrating the anniversary too. I have to admit that I was a kid 20 years ago and unluckily I hadn't the Hogwarts castle nore the Chamber of Secrets sets (and, clearly, I wanted them). As for minifigures, once Lego decided what scene to produce the selection isn't really free: Harry, Ginny, Lockhart, Riddle are all in that scene... nice they put even petrified students and ghosts like Nick, Justin, Colin. And Sinistra is a very good add (and on my to-create-list too). Oh, yes, there's also Dumbledore. Rating 7/10 3) Forbidden Corridor and Fluffy is something I wanted as a kid (and I hadn't). Not really happy on how the building appears. And I strongly hope they won't put HRH in their school jumpers. I'm not sure wether I like or not Fluffy yet. Rating 6/10 4) Not really much to say on Mirtle's Bathroom. Building is nothing special, but I think for 20$ is not bad. And Crabbe and Goyle were someone I was waiting for. The same for Hermione as a cat (I tought she would have appeared in a Minifigures Series). Rating 6/10 Oh, and there's also golden minifigures, but it's something that doesn't affect my rating. I think that the main problem of this wave, apart for not fitting with our wishlist, is the anniversary style. It can be seen as a worsening compared to the previous one and it makes difficult to put new sets togheter with old ones, but luckily my shelf isn't so long so... In the end, not really disappointed by these prelim images. Waiting for the inside part and minifigures final version for a more precise evaluation. Prelim rating 7/10
  18. I don't know if you are going crazy But I think that most of us would become crazy (and not for joy), if your assumptions will be proved true.
  19. Funny seeing how we look into @Falconfan1414 messages seeking for revelations.
  20. Mmm... not impossible, I think, cause 75956_Quidditch Match is retired, but I'm not sure I will appreciate this. I've already bought two 75956_Quidditch match (sort of tradition in my family, considering that in the past I and my brother asked for Christmas two of 4726_Quidditch Practice ) and I'm projecting simple stands for creating a little Quidditch pitch on my own. And I think it's difficult to make something really different from the old set: goal posts and towers. Of course, Angelina and Jordan could be a very good charachter selection... but I fear we could have instead Harry, Malfoy, Hermione and Dobby , plus Madame Hooch and Lockhart.
  21. It's not for the sake of it It's because Hagrid is present in some scene that, who knows, maybe Lego would product in the future. Obviously, a Hagrid's Hut seems to be difficult to remake without its owner ; the same, I think, for a hypothetical Detention in Forbidden Forest set or a 7 Potters scene, that I imagine would end in Harry+Hagrid. Furthermore Hagrid is an appreciate charachter (at least kids I know appreciate him) and he's so iconical. Of course, I understand why you and others don't want Hagrid (me too, by the way). If Lego asked me to choose between the same old Hagrid or Angelina (or Katie or Ernie MacMillan), as an example, I would immediately pick the second. But August sets is it said that will disappoint a lot of us . So more Hagrid and his pink umbrella for us!
  22. Yes, I was thinking to something like this. Similar to 75967_Forbidden Forest: Umbridge's Encounter. Maybe with no Fang, keeping it for a hypothetical following Minifigures Series.
  23. Finally I've seen prelim images of june set. I've not a clear idea on what to think about yet. I leave you something to pass time (and fill pages ). One thing I'm thinking about: where's Hagrid? Ok, obviously it's not mandatory having Hagrid in every wave... oh, yeah, maybe it should be mandatory, shouldn't it? ... So, in what august set would you like to have him (and won't have*)? 1) 250 very big brick Hagrid figure with very big brick Fang (and a very big brick umbrella) ; 2) 120 Hogwarts Express remake with Hogsmeade station*; 3) 60 Hagrid's Hut remake*; 4) 30/40 Detention in the Forbidden Forest*; 5) something else*; I'd probably prefer the 4th. As an idea, I think this could have a nice potential. Realisation, obviuosly, can destroy the best ideas. Anyway, this won't happen... and we will have 250 Hagrid with Fang. * Yeah, just wishful thinking. Keep low your expectations and you'll never be disappointed
  24. Hi everyone, it's BrickMatit here. 30 years old, I love Lego since... oh at least since I had memories. My oldest Lego set was 6663_Wave rebel (I've built it in these days and, wow, no pieces lost! How could it happen? ). Coming from a not rich not poor family, with a sister and a brother, as a kid I dreamed for a lot of Lego sets, mainly Knights Kingdom, received only some of them, filled with fantasy the gaps. I passed trough teen years always receiving Lego sets at least twice a year (Christmas and birtdhay), but more as a casual consumer. The only themes I really followed were Harry Potter, at least at the beginning (Philosopher Stone and Chamber of Secrets) and during the 2010-11 waves, Orient Expedition, and Vikings. I played a lot with my brother and sister and this affected the number of pieces lost: sets more used have more pieces (weapons, wands...) lost. Finally adult and with some money on my own, I continued the "Cristhmas and Birthday" tradition, but treating myself to some more expensive sets: 4842_Hogwarts Castle; 60051_High Speed Passenger Train with 60050:Train Station; 60052_Cargo Train. Harry Potter new apparition in 2018 was the changing point (yeah, I really like Harry Potter). I and my brother, who shares my same passion, have collected almost all sets, met togheter to build new sets and played like when we was kids (mmm... yes, I admit we've never stopped playing, luckily ). And we bought the most expensive set of our life, 75978_Diagon Alley. Fantastic! Prefered themes are Harry Potter, Castle/Kingdom/Knights... , Vikings, Exotic adventures, Trains... Not really into MOCing, just two little Hogwarts expansions and a tiny sail boat I'm working on (at the moment digitally), but I really enjoy admiring other Lego fan creations. Last purchase: three shelves for my Hogwarts display. Not properly Lego, but related. Have a nice day!
