  1. Hypothetically, if LEGO has decided to remove this set from sale (retire it) would they discontinue it completely or do an updated version (assuming the current battery box is the issue)? Credit to RacingBrick on YouTube as I wouldn’t have noticed!
  2. Tempted to buy this set as is not showing on LEGO.com?
  3. Slightly random question, but what has everyone done with their 6 stud cars (for those who display their speed champions)? Do you still have them displayed, maybe separately from the 8 stud wide models, or have you dismantled them. I have the idea to convert the 6 wide ones into 8 wide, however I feel like that’s not as easy as it may seem. Right now my 6 stud models are on a shelf away from the 8 wide ones so I’m looking to see what others have done :)
  4. Wow that price is just silly! Please no one (at least in Australia) but this set at RRP! I would say it’s one of the most overpriced sets of all time?!
  5. I’m pretty sure the Volvo dropped to $150 on Amazon at one point so yeah $300 for the zetros seems likely!
  6. Is the $500 AUD (about $380 usd) price for Australia on the Mercedes confirmed?! If so, that is ridiculous!! It should cost roughly the same as the Volvo hauler which also has control + elements and is $120AUD less.
  7. Something I’ve thought of - seeing as all the new speed champion sets come with a helmet a hair piece (awesome), I kind of feel like getting the same helmet over again is a bit boring, e,g the Jesko, elva and Supra all have black helmets. I think it would be awesome to have each set come with a decorated helmet to match the Minifigures attire/racing suit, such as having racing livery or the brand logo printed on it. I think that would add a touch more “specialness” to the sets! What do you guys think of this idea?
  8. Ok, so I just finished building most of this new wave - all except the dodge set (waiting for a big discount on that one to get the purple challenger) and the Bronco as I only wanted the Ford GT from that set. So to say my thoughts I have decided to list it like this: Best model of the 2021 wave: Ford GT - Looks awesome, colours are bright (although the medium azure is a bit inaccurate), and definitely recognisable! Model I am most surprised on (exceeded my expectations): Toyota Supra - Very solid build, rear section is really well done, the yellow is nice, only complaint is the stickered headlights, I feel like it should of been printed. But yeah, much better than my initial impressions on it. Worst model of the 2021 wave: Corvette C8r - To be honest, not recognisable at all, colour does not help (I think light grey would of been better) and the thing I hate most are the fenders! However I have already managed to put the normal fenders on the rear, now to find a way to put them on the front... The Elva and Jesko are really good models too, it’s hard to chose which one is better out of both, however the Jesko does have more “presence” to it. The thing I found annoying about the elva and sometimes in a few other cars, is the random coloured pieces that bleed through crevasses and gaps - e.g: there was a lot of red that could be seen through the front, wheel arches and even interior in the elva, but replacing those random colours was easily done. The C3 is good, not my thing but the colour is nice. Another thing is the new wheels. I wasn’t sure at first but they are definitely better! I wish there was more rim designs though, only 2 is extremely boring and unconventional. Being able to fit 2x2 dish pieces/tiles opens a lot of doors too. So yeah great wave, (not sure if it’s stronger than the 2020 wave?) but now the wait for the 2022 wave is on and hopefully it’s not delayed to June again, but I could see why it could be. Good job speed champion designers, keeping my favourite theme alive haha
  9. Nice! I might try and do this, any pieces of advice/techniques?
  10. Did you use parts of the sticker sheet as well as the pre cut ones? (If that makes sense)?
  11. Mod for brick built lights on the supra (from brick engineering dude on YouTube) Looks better than the stickers I think!
  12. Is it just me, or does LEGO need to make more variations of this part: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=99206#T=C Such as a 2x1 version, or even 1x1 version? It would be sooooo helpful especially for speed champions
  13. For those who don’t know, there is a thread for Speed Champions 2022: Follow and speculate away!
  14. Whoops! I don’t know how I didn’t see this thread before but, I hope speed Champions continues forever and think it’s here to stay! In terms of Wishlist/speculation hers my list: AMG Project (Everyone who mentioned it, I think it’s a great idea) New Porsche 911 GT3/(GT3 RS when it comes out) but maybe it’s too new Maserati MC20 - would be awesome Bentley continental GT3 - definitely cool Bugatti Chiron Supersport - more Bugatti please LEGO Lamborghini Miura & Sian - can’t go wrong with more Lamborghinis Honestly anything Aston Martin (DBS, vantage Gt3) If I have anymore I will post them :)
  15. As much as I would rather wait until finished, here is my Bugatti Chiron in 8 wide. I want to do medium azure for the front half and dark blue at the rear however a few parts don’t exists in those colours unfortunately. There is a picture of the front and rear on my Flickr, keep in mind the font will have the headlight stickers on them once finished.
  16. Here’s another speed champion designer interview: I would assume he gets interviewed by a range of people so if anyone sees any more interviews be sure to link them here! (I already know of new elementary’s interview, but haven’t found any more).
  17. Reviving an old topic here but wow you predicted the future of the theme! Anyway I was curious if you are still into LEGO and have converted other 6 wide cars into 8 wide such as the 1974 Porsches? Cool to see this thread and who knows maybe LEGO found it and got inspiration!
  18. Am I the only one who thinks that the front fenders look weird? To much of a gap? Was thinking this piece https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x346#T=C but I don’t think it’s perfect to fix the gap
  19. Could anyone here who as built the C8r tell me if installing the normal speed champions fenders is easy/possible? (Also a picture would awesome too) :)
  20. Wow that’s awesome! thanks for keeping this topic alive haha, my Bugatti Chiron Moc has had to temporarily stop as although I’ve finished it in a mismatch of colours there are pieces in the medium azure that do not exist in the parts I needs so I’ll have to wait
  21. Hopefully this isn’t unrelated and someone (even better if you are from Australia) can help me; I have never made a bricks and pieces order and am looking to make one. My questions are: Are the parts shipped from Denmark? So if I compile an order, say $100 worths of pieces then add it to my LEGO online shop bag, can I add sets to my order as well to get of the shipping threshold ($149)? Also will my items from the LEGO online shop be shipped separately from the bricks and pieces? How long can I expect it to take, if I’m from Australia? Thanks everyone sorry for silly questions
  22. The C8r is desperately missing the pointy front and whyyyyy did they use those fenders on it??? Can anyone tell me if they are used to benefit the car in terms of techniques at all? Otherwise I’m going to need regular dark grey fenders asap to replace them!
