New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
User5346 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Yeah I understand. But the gaps on the GT and C8r are pretty bad, if LEGO is going for accuracy than they should create a new fender similar to the regular sc fender but instead one does not have a bulge that sticks out because all of these Supercars or Hypercars have flat surface fenders.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation

Nice review, thank you for mentioning the lack of a curved windshield on the Jesko. So it seems the colour on the Gt is medium azure, but in the pictures it looks darker? Any chance @kbalage could compare the GT to last years jag set (if you have it), in a side by side picture so we can see how they look together? That would be awesome- 755 replies

Thing I don’t understand; interview took place in May 2020! What!? That means next years sets are already compete? Also, since the designers are always looking for fan feedback, please get colours accurate. Good example is the urus, should of been bright green and the huracan should of been light grey. This year I think the Ford Gt is the only issue with the blue, I can’t tell but think it’s medium azure, should of been medium blue. Overall though, it’s the best LEGO theme ever.- 755 replies

Looking at the sets coming out (specifically the parts packs) I think they are absolutely awesome! So many parts and decent prices, definitely an overlooked LEGO theme.

So it seems like most people are unhappy with the choice of the Taj Mahal which I can see why (there was a big creator expert one), but really what else could they do that they have not done before, that is not directly religious related and is not an unheard of / niche landmark?

I have to say I’m quite impressed with the new wildlife sets and the big one (Basecamp) is awesome! Its what I would call LEGO being generous, like wow 8 animals with all of them new/updated for 2021! Totally cool! Will definitely consider buying it! -

It’s more so the fact that there are 3 American 2 car packs in this one wave. Another thing is, I’m pretty sure that there are more European car brands out there when compared to the amount American car brands, so that could influence the choice of cars that are made into sets.- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
User5346 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
In terms of my thoughts of the choice of cars: elva: Probably the worst current Mclaren they could of chosen tbh? It was a really niche model to begin with and was a “hypercar” I think was probably made as a money grab considering production numbers reduced drastically with its multimillion dollar price tag, but in terms of a speed champion point of view something else like a 765LT or even a senna remake would of made more sense. jesko: I think this is an awesome choice considering the premiumness of the brand name. Really have no complaints here. supra: yeah I could see why LEGO would make this as there is a massive market for JDM cars but IMO the scales a little off when you compare the real car to say a Jesko, the supra is one of those thin sports cars that probably would of looked more accurate at 6 wide but I’m all for 8 wide corvettes: I’m fine with this although I think a street version of the c8 would of have a wider appeal. The stingray will please a lot of old fans I’m sure. dodge: biggest fail of the wave such a wasted opportunity. There was recently a dodge set with a similar car in 6 wide and the dragster is such an awkward choice. Who really wanted a licensed dragster?! ford: I’m super happy with a GT rerelease in 8 wide and I love the colour scheme. The Bronco is ehhh and even though it’s not my thing it is quite a good representation nonetheless.- 755 replies

I’m pretty sure there’re prints. I don’t think it’s too bad, but it would of been better if they introduced a new whole 2x2 quarter tile instead of two seperate pieces. I always have sooo many questions for the design team, hopefully one day fans get a chance to ask them- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
User5346 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Wow I understand what you mean and this is really confusing me now. I doubt there is a painted stripe on the tyre as there no way it’ll be that perfect, plus on the GT you can see silver carry through underneath the tyre. Did LEGO just invent another tyre that’s very thin? I am so confused because the rims on the GT and Jesko have a border between the rim and the tyre, but they are still not using the old 5 spoke ones. But on the elva the rims look the same as the GT and Jesko but there is a border between the rim and tyre! Whattt!- 755 replies

That’s true, although I meant no more lip of colour between the rim and tyre. But as you pointed out the lip behind is a bit annoying Maybe this? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=53705#T=C&C=17- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
User5346 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
Upon taking a closer look at the C8r, I think it’s probably the least accurate of the wave. It should of been pointed at the front like the old corvette (maybe LEGO could of introduced wedge tiles). The front of the car is far to flat compared to the real thing as there’s too many right angles. Also it seems like some of the cars use brackets to form the trim underneath the side of the car, however a problem with that is the studs of the brackets become very noticeable. I encountered this problem when I was trying to build my own SC moc, and it seems like using brackets is the lowest possible way to have side trim I think. In my opinion, I had nothing wrong with the old wheels that Speed Champions used and from these pictures I think the bigger rims just look off. Maybe it will look better in person however I’m considering ordering a bunch of old wheels and rims from bricklink. The new rims are also offered in a terrible selection, only 5 spoke and 9 spoke. Yes the Jesko and supra look fine with these style of rims however the 5 spoke wheels on the elva and GT are not accurate at all. I think if LEGO really wanted to update the wheels, they should of created something to represent a brake calliper and have printing on the centre of the rim with the brand’s logo. I guess these new rims will help in removing the small lip of colour if you did two tone wheels where you use a different colour rim to the wheel. Something to note: the bronco seems to be using the old rim and wheels One more thing, the use of the small fenders on the C8r and Gt - why? The C8r does not benefit from them as far as I can tell however it probably helps the GT as the front is angled downwards and there is a large piece that creates the splitter. I am definitely considering replacing the C8r fenders with regular ones. I’d be interested on everyone else’s thoughts on the things I’ve bought up too :)- 755 replies

New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Rumors, Speculation
User5346 replied to Bartlomiej's topic in LEGO Town
You’re right. But I don’t think it looks good. This is probably because people have said the wheels look too small. Why did they have to change it! At least the fenders look the same so changing them is possible I think I know what they have done to the wheels: The small border from the inner wheel piece has been removed (blue area) so now the rims take up more space (new rims)- 755 replies
