Good for you. That means TLG failed as those sets are squarely aimed at AFOLs Now, lets get back to the Porsche ,,, -

Kids (or the kid's parents) bought those sets, nothing mysterious about that -

Yes it's a toy. TLG is a toy company and a rather succesfull one, but for sure they do market certain products to adults I mean, who - as a kid - ever lusted for a Tower Bridge, a Taj Mahal or a Sydney Opera House? Or all the architecture sets? A bunch of the SW UCS are also play type sets This set? Not sure .. -

Yes, it's pretty crazy that kids would ever play with a kids toy. This surely belongs on AFOL shelves only and anyone below +16 should be thrown in a Playmobil jail! -

You're right about all those points and that is why I think the Porsche will not have those functions -

TLG have actually reached peak when it comes to "supercars" (a supercar by my definition is a large scale vehicle with realistic functions), imho 853/956 : Working engine, simple gearbox, no suspension, no bodywork 8860 : Working engine, slightly more advanced gearbox, suspension on rear wheels, no bodywork 8865 : Working engine, same gearbox, suspension all around, simple bodywork 8880 : New style working engine, sequential gearbox, wishbones everywhere, 4WD+4WS and nice bodywork 8448 : While it has a new style of building things tend to down hill from here 8070 : Nothing new, so TLG decides to motorize silly things instead In the beginning there was a clear progression, peaked with 8880 and .. now nothing ('cept the switch to liftarms/panels) Imho, TLG should focus on other types of suspension systems (I'm tired of wishbones), engine (where are the cams, valves etc?), proper wheels/hubs and perhaps electrical lights. I'd add bodywork, but it seems to be somewhat important to TLG now Cheers, Ole And a very poor crawler indeed. Parents might be smart, but the kid is not. The +16 don't mean diddly, it's LEGO = it's for kids I'm hoping +16 means it's an advanced building experience ;) It's not that the Porsche (with a powerfull RC motor) will fall apart when you hit a wall, it will actually break into parts you cannot put together again. That's not good Also, as I've mentioned, TLG would be damn foolish to try to compete with the actual RC world. 300EUR will get you +50km/h easily with a vehicle that can actually take some beatings -

If TLG put in a new buggy motor the car will get destroyed the instant a kid drives into the wall = FAIL = angry parents complian to TLG But maybe he is smart enough to take it outside. There he can compete with his friends who has proper RC vehicles that'll go +50km/h (for less than 300EUR!). He'll be the laughingstock of the whole town = FAIL = angry parents complian to TLG TLG only used the buggy motor in actual RC (radio controlled) sets that had loads of special, rather non-LEGO'ish parts. And they still sucked, btw IR remotes will not cut it, so even if there's a new powerfull motor AND proper RC it will still not work with normal Technic/LEGO parts It's a pipedream, folks (Yes, I know the buggy motor was in the crane but that was not used for driving) -
I'm mostly looking forward to selling a bunch of rare white baseplates, Bacta Luke and Hoth Leia in my BL shop Cheers, Ole

Indeed it is, however none of us finds it funny 'cept you it seems A couple of big moulded anmals is not what makes a UCS set. Heck, even if TLG didn't use that moniker it still is a rather poor set compared the last bunch Hoth offerings lumped together I guess the boob gun is the A(male)FOL part here? But at least I can sell my Bacta Luke for silly money now, thanx TLG

Fixed that for you

This is the worst case of TLG ripoff I've ever seen Details such as the lookout tower (not in ESB) and he missing fourth disc on the power generator are just way too much a coincedense for me Shame on you! (Whoever made this crap)

I think the best monorail is the flatnose'd one on the back/flip of the 6399's box I prefer that one to the actual 6399 (mine is yellow, though) Looks much better in real life (top left corner) There's another review here that displays it much better .. actually, all the alts are better than the main shuttle. It's a very overrated set imho ;) (I own many monorail sets and I LOVE the system, but the sets pretty much suck. Just buy the motor, rails (switches ftw!), stanchions and MOC from there ...) Cheers, Ole

This time, I do not have inside info as such, but if was to guess I would think the next train would be 4W with several wagons and include a small station .. loads of extra chrismassy stuff as usual (trees, santa, helpers and reindeers) So no PF, no tracks, no fun .. But what do I know?

TLG decided to make a bunch of new torso prints = expensive = important This IP is only for old nerds, so they'l notice ;) -
Not everything comes directly from TLG's mouth
-
Nope, that's AL's fault (who now doesn't even want to exibit i DK 'cause you know, us being nazis) So, if you make public exhibitions, you must make it very clear that TLG is not endorsing you (ahhm, a certain KZ camp comes to mind here) Much better than just shutting the bulk program down

The price mentioned should be the final price to the customer (at least in EU, NA is somwhat different with their state taxes) So the price for the Volvo is 89 € But that miight change from one EU country to another because TLG is ... daft? Silly? Really wants BL to grow? The price 90EUR is probably the same all over EU +/-10EUR Cheers, Ole

Bull! TLG have made LOADS of sets in the last +30 years that could shoot parts into kids eyes and I know no major lawsuit. And yes, that would surely have hit the mass media hard If you want to get hurt on the BWE it's perfectly possible right now. Stick that sucker into your cage of rabbits and I'm sure within a day or two there will be blood. Clutchgears be damned But no NORMAL person would do that = no lawsuti Unless TLG makes a disclamier, you could probaly still stuff it in your perfectly legal 19th century canon and fire into your little sister ('s dollhouse) This is a silly discussion. I know quite a bit of what is going on in Billund. The reason for the LAs instead of draglines and the lack of missing motors is because of budget. Not safety Budget and biudget only Cheers, Ole -

You forget that TLG have a zillion lawyers and more gold than the Bank of England (oh, wait they sold that!) Lawsuit not gonna happen like motor operated draglines is also not gonna happen with this set Yes, while modern Technics is not for me, I look very much forward to what folks here can do with that set. It really is epic in many ways. I love the idea of it and one day I might make something myself. The buckets and turntable rings are a must for me for sure (and expect yellow womit as usual, sigh) So, the version with 28 XL motors, 18 RC IR units and a coffee maker in the cabin, is what I'm waiting for Jurgen to make! (Note to self : must buy more XL motors for my BL store) Cheers, Ole -

I blame TLG and their lack of sex diversity. Oh, wait, that's Daily Mail speaking! I'd probaly blame my sister and flick'fire her Barbies into dust (Not that I've done that, hehe)
