  1. My source tells me that back then (pre 2k) TLG made parts like that all the time. Regular parts in "off" colours, prototype parts etc all the time. They might not have a need for them at that moment, or they were made for themes that never got anywhere (like Tintin/Monty Python) .. Anyway, they made them. Stocked them. And at some point, decided to sell them. They got out to employees and other weird channels. TLG do not have any of those wierd parts anymore (I know, as I've been told directly by TLG), it's now all in the hands of .... US Cheers, Ole
  2. Oi gang! I found this going through some old UK "Bricks 'n Pieces" magazines from 1979 and I thought you all might be interested (Well actually, mine are digital copies and I did my best to make a decent photoshop composition as it was spread over two pages) Now, this is just two years after the first film, episode IV aka "A New Hope" was released so I think the builder did quite allright with the parts available at that time. I know I coulnd't have done any better myself To the left we have Leia, Luke, Han and Chewie .. to the right we have C-3PO, R2-D2, two jawas and a stormtrooper. And in the middle a deadly battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi fighting with their "force beams" (!) I do wonder if John Milverton from Heswall might still be an AFOL? Anyway, if I've never seen "Star Wars" I would certainly see it after looking at this MOC Cheers, Ole
  3. Well, that's the reason you couldn't get those two anti-freeze 1x1 pyramid tops Drop the dropship, a flying M-tron container would be much cooler. It would be rad with a huge flat front and judging by the size you could use 3x4 panels for windows? They do come in that colour but is somewhat rare I also have a 4x6 plate so yeah, they mirror the trans-yellow ones Cheers, Ole
  4. There are several odd colours only found in watches etc (gear in general). I have two non production colours ; a bright orange and a brown/greenish military looking colour You should ask the BL forum, there's some serious colour nerds over there Cheers, Ole
  5. Well, my gf is pregnant and just accepted my proposal, so yeah, I am the luckiest man (And since it's that ring is M-trony I guess it's also on topic, haha) Yes, TLG should have used trans-green much more. I really like it together with light grey/black. 6901 is one ugly duckling though (and US only so I didn't have to look at that abomination as a kid) but I really like the 452/894 with trans-green instead of trans-yellow and of course the 6891 (my fav mid-size spaceship along with 6931 and 6929 (nice re-colour you made there)) That's one gigantic M-tron container if you're gonna put the 6989 inside! Are you going to make a cargoship to haul that around space also? Or _is_ the cargo container a spaceship? That would be very cool Cheers, Ole
  6. Perfect MOCs as always TLG ripped off a lot of parts from TENTE, like the 2877 (first made by TLG in 1991 - but made by TENTE in 1988 (possibly before that)). The early TENTE catalogues (from the 80's) are a great source of CS inspiration . Loads of great sets there. Funny, that TENTE never made a minifig. Those 'stiffies' look rather silly. Also interesting that TENTE didn't have a problem with military sets and I also like their extensive range of ships. It's a rather interesting clone company and I myself have a funny story about them if anyone want's to listen? I know quite a bit about the designer who left TLG for TENTE, but it's old news and I don't want to upset anyone, so no tales from me this time - sorry And oh, those 6x8 trans green plates are not from the 70's btw : Cheers, Ole
  7. No, that is never used in the movie and that is what counts. What the toy industry names SW vehicles don't matter Exactly, it's a "toy" name, it's not canon But I do wonder what it's original purpose was? Was it like a flying tow truck? Why would a speeder even have a tow cable and how would it be used? Odd desgin .. I've never heard anyone refering to a vehicle as a "module" though Anyway, smashing speeder! Too bad that wonderfull roof is long gone or else TLG could take some notes on this design that's totally MUCS (= Minifig UCS)
  8. Just ask TLG to make the proper parts (they did in 199X anyway) : Cheers, Ole
  9. Very nice MOC (the best I've seen for this model so far), but it's not a "T-47" nor a "snowspeeder" (Hint, neither are in Episode V) Edit, here's the dialogue from TESB : HAN : "Not likely. Are the speeders ready?" DECK OFFICER "Not yet. We're having some trouble adapting them to the cold" .. so they're not SNOWspeeders, but normal speeders that should not have been used on Hoth . Next : MEDICAL DROID : "Sir, it will take quite a while to evaquate the t-forty-sevens" LUKE : "Well, forget about the heavy equipment. There's plenty of time to get the smaller modules on the transports" .. so T-47 is some kinda 'module' .. might be Luke's favourite sleeping quarter- we'll never know - but it's _not_ a (snow) speeder .. In short "T-47" (and all the other T-XX) is just another "12 parsec" .. Typical SW jibberish that we all love, that's been now made canon by Lucas/Disney, but it's not in the actaul movie Cheers, Ole
  10. No, I think it might be a part used for some 9V light thing. Anyway, we'll never know .. I asked my man and he said "I only picked it up because it looked interesting. I've never seen it before, but I thought it might make a good conversation piece" .. And now it's in the hands of Walther .. Look out for his wicked MOCs
  11. Man up and put in a 9V train PF motor. With those large wheels and full tilt on the remote it'll go as fast as a kid after eating a bowl of that 50% sugar bomb Just found out that particular box pictured is on dispaly i Den Gamle By and I live very close by and have an annual free pass. I shall do som investigation Later, Ole
  12. Meget flot! This brings back some childhood memories for sure. I always thought the stop signal on the old boxes looked suspiciously like the ones in my 70's blue rail train set (allthough that one is red and the one on the box is blue/dark blue) Couldn't find a better pic, sorry - What do you think? Cheers, Ole
  13. No probs Are you sure you're not going to regret selling those beautifull sets? Also, you should set up a BL/eBay shop .. Cheers, Ole
  14. Great sets that I have for obvious reasons (including Smuggler's Hayride) Good luck with your sale Cheers, Ole
  15. Certainly not the one I got back then. I do know the sirens can be found in 'swapped' colours though
  16. TLG is still making Technic DACTA sets which are somewhat like the old Universal sets I have a lot of those old sets as they're cheap, good for parts and often displays interresting ideas not found in normal Technic sets 8040 was my first pnematic experience back in 1984, I thought it was very advanced and I made a lot of wierd contraptions Kinda miss sets like that (722/33/44 are my desert island LEGO sets), they really kicked your imagination into high gear Cheers, Ole
  17. Cutting leads to the dark side No colour vomit here, ALL my axles are BLACK in 2L, 3L, 4L, 5L, 6L, 8L, 10L, 12L, 16L & 32L (allthough I have a number of non-production axles in blue, green, brown, yellow and red) I wouldn't mind 2,5L etc IF they came in black, but I always seem to work around that problem anyway (which mostly seem to happen when I use standard engine blocks) Cheers, Ole
  18. You're joking, right? A forklift is the quintessential Technic set http://technicopedia.com/forklifts.html
  19. No alternative and there never will be. Yes, there's BO but there's very little to buy there. It would be a MASSIVE effort to make a true competitor to BL. Even if you offered no fees, instant checkout, scam prevention etc, you'd still need all the sellers from BL. And they're not going to jump ship And don't even think about eBay ;) BL is BL, I liked the old style, never had a problem with it (both as a buyer and seller), now it's getting all fancy, sigh. Well, I'll just have to put up with that because there is NO place where I can get the parts/set that I want Cheers, Ole
  20. It's those silly humans doing it by hand. Back to the industrial robots, TLG!
  21. Don't think the OP is complaining about the colour change but merely stating that bley is awfull. Which in fact is No bley here, only sweet classic grey There's a very cheap source for full spectrum light, it's called the sun
  22. That shield is a bit of an oddball It was first made it's appearance in 1979 but not with the new Castle theme, but in Space! Set 452/894 had two in very rare trans-clear. Now the odd thing here is they're not used as minifig shields, but as radars. There's no real need for that minifig handle and a 2x2/3x3 dish would do nicely instead (yeah, I know they didn't exist back then) The shield was never used in the orginal Castle theme, which is too bad as I'd liked a bunch of them in light grey It pops up again in 1984 in a bunch of Castle sets (dark grey) and Space sets (trans-red) And then it's gone ... Cheers, Ole
  23. Tamiya Bruiser (1985 and reissued in 2012), three speed working gearbox (controlled by a third servo) : These are sold in kit form you need to build them yourself, much like LEGO Cheers, Ole
  24. Yeah, if anything that would be THE place to buy original LEGO as it's full of LEGO loving nerds that wouldn't touch that knock off shit with a ten foot pole. Ebay is FULL of crap and ebay don't care one bit OP, what exactly is your beef with BL? Why don't you open up an account? Last time I asked you I offered a metal hook for 1EUR, but you never replied back .I see they're going for 20EUR now ... Lemme know if can find that killer deal on ebay
